I don't see my favorite beer either but, I don't "Yikes" about it. I prefer Labatt's but, ....I buy beer that will fit convenientally fit in my cabin fridge and one that I may like. Turns out to be Heineken. Just my thoughts.

Even more yikes!

How much american light lager do they hafta throw at us?

Just got back from Oahu and went to their restaraunt/bar there.

Does NCL Epic have any of the Kona Brewing Co. Beers- Longboard, Firerock, Big Wave, etc...

The chances are about the same as LSU scoring against Bama. Even if Bama doesn't take the field........

I can actually drink a lot of beers (skunky heiny isn't one of them), just prefer more flavorful and complex brews that you won't typically find from mass commercial distributors. That's what we're asking for...some variety.

We're not alone. While sales of mass market beers have been dropping consistently, the growth in sales of craft brews is double digits.

We found that the Jade had different beers to choose from than the Gem. On either, there were plenty of good choices. We lived in Germany for four years and don't drink lite beer or US mass market stuff like Miller or Bud. Sam Adams is my favorite US beer.

Respectfully.... No.

LOL! I am a homebrewer and hophead and I am not expecting to be overwhelmed by a great beer selection. I thought I noticed New Castle brown in a pic (aka Miller Dark or Brown Lite). But it is what it is. I can guarantee I won't be drinking Miller, Bud, etc.

Has anyone been to St John Brewers in St John USVI?

Hoping to find Strongbow in the Pearly Kings Pub on the Dawn next month - any recent sightings? Thanks!

Wanderlust,

We are going on Dawn Jan 25. I will keep my eyes open on the ship but will probably only get good beer ashore. Been to Aruba and found great Belgian beers even in the supermarkets.

Maybe St Maarten will be similar, I hope.

I always buy American. We have lost enough jobs.

Buying American isn't that easy. Budweiser is owned by InBev, a Belgian/Brazilian brewery.

Miller is owned by SAB Miller, A South African Brewery.

Coors is owned by Molson, A Canadian Brewery.

In fact, all major "American" brands are owned or brewed by foreign companies. This includes. Pabst Blue Ribbon, Rolling Rock, Schlitz, Stroh, Schaeffer, Rainier, Olympia, etc.

Thanks! I know the possibility of finding hard cider onboard or ashore is remote but I'm willing to be optimistic!

Supposedly this is the beer list from O'sheehans on the Epic

American: Coors Light, Miller Genuine Draft, Miller Lite, Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Samuel Adams Lager, Blue Moon

International: Heineken, Heineken Light, Amstel Light, Buckler (Non-Alcoholic), Molson, Newcastle, Strongbow, Hard Cider, Bass Pale Ale, Boddingtons Ale, Beck's, Guinness Stout, Red Stripe, Pilsner Urquell, Fosters Lager, Corona, Corona Light, Dos Equis Special Lager, Kirin Ichiban, Sapporo

Draught Beer Selections: Beck's, Heineken, Newcastle, Bass Pale Ale, Stella Artois, Amstel Light, Miller Lite, Dos Equis Special Lager

Classic Beer Drinks: Black and Tan (Guinness and Bass), Shandy (Lager and Lemon-Lime Soda), Snake Bite (Beer and Strongbow Cider)

Tallyho,

Yes I agree, and to go further, the beer is not always brewed where you think it is. :(

The US makes some of the best craft beers in the world. Buying American isn't even an issue here

I was in Arizone last weekend. I met a couple of fellows from Great Britain whilst flying toy airplanes. One of 'em mentioned that there were no good beers in the US. I explained to him that we LOTS of good stuff over here but it wouldn't be available at the Love's in Eloy, Arizona. He sorta understood. He is used to offerings at his pubs.

I live in Northern CO and we have many great craft breweries here. I wish the beer list was better but I will be able to get by.

I really don't understand why the ships don't open up a craft brew bar like several of the bigger casinos in Vegas have done (like the Pour24 in the NYNY). There is a big market for this and you can charge higher prices for premium beer, like they do in Vegas. This would not only be a draw for their cruise, it should be a money maker.

There is a RCCL ship setting up a brew pub. One of the problems is that the ship moves, which isn't real good for the wort.

The biggest reason they don't pursue it is because there are sufficient pax who enjoy the BMC swill. They would make more money by using that much space for three more slot machines (which wouldn't even require crew).

I thought I read about a brew pub on a Carnival ship? Something with a frog in the name. I can't remember since I tried Carnival once and never plan to again I didn't really read the article carefully.

Also, I know Celebrity has a beer bar on their newer ships, the menu looks good. We might make the switch because of the beer selection and the beverage packages where you can pay one price for all you can drink each day.

The Carny has their 'private label' beer on tap. It is assumed to be AB's American Ale with a different name-Thirsty Frog. Hey, it's gotta be better than a Coor's Light, right?
