I've read reviews written by people who really like the outdoor jumbo screens and others who weren't too wild about them. I'm a BIG movie fan but somehow I keep booking cruises on ships without the screens. I've decided the big screen is going to be one of the requirements for the next ship I book. My question is, do they give out or sell popcorn at night for people to munch on while watching a movie? What do they show besides movies and is it constantly showing something? How late at night ?? Thanks guys. I know you'll have the answers for me....

They tried charging for the popcorn and too many complaints. They said a charge so the kids wouldnt throw it around... I guess they gave up. To be honest I dont think they always pop popcorn, not on all ships. I would smell it if so and Im up there a lot.

Just came back from the Dream and they had popcorn for free during the movies. Usually 2 showings a night and other stuff during other times such as concerts. I thought the popcorn was really good and tasty.

.

We don't go to the theater and always joke that if it wasn't for taking a cruise we wouldn't see any movies.

We enjoy MUS but there are a few problems. Since it is outdoors many don't think it is a theater and they will stand as a group in front or along side of you carrying on a conversation. You also need to check the chair before you sit in it because it may be wet from passengers that sat in it after getting out of the pool or hot tubs.

Not a pop corn fan but I seen that it was available. I thought it was a conspiracy to get you to buy something to drink.

Like others suggested. Stop by the buffet first and load up with snacks to go.

i did not notice popcorn but they did have warm blankets

They broke out the blankets on our last freezy january cruise.

We snagged a couple and used them while sitting out in deck chairs for the rest of the cruise and then left them in the room.

Everybody who saw us wanted a blanket.

We sat out in deck chairs wearing parkas and gloves and our blankets.

But hey, at least we were in the sun.:)

When I was on the Triumph, in 2010, they were showing the LSU football game. At that time she was docked in New Orleans. They showed movies almost every night. Two of the movies I remember them showing were, "Alice in Wonderland" and "Book of Eli." They showed sports and other things during the day.

Unfortunately, several mornings on the Magic the big screen had on The View on full blast. Annoying and way too loud. IMHO the big screen was too loud during the day no matter what they were playing, and I usually don't complain about volume. Thank goodness for the spa and serenity deck.

I'll second that! On the Dream, it was so loud that you could barely hear the person sitting across from you talking. I'm a big fan of Tina Turner but her concert was so loud that we left the area.

It was nice in the morning seeing CNN. But again, way too loud. I've noticed that they crank up the volume so you can hear it, yet the announcements on the Lido deck are almost impossible to hear because of the people that won't quit talking when they start.

This is exactly why they have gotten such a bad name on Carnival. Not only do they play them way too lound, but because of where the speakers are located on top, the noise also annoys people on other ships.

I agree volume is too loud in the morning!!!

Movies are good--need to spend more time at the movies instead of the casino:D
