What's happened to the doc dance?

In this day of electronic tickets, the joy of dancing from the mailbox down the driveway with your cruise tickets in hand seems to have faded. Does anyone besides me miss doing the doc dance?

I used to like it too. The color pamphlets, nice boarding passes and excursion information. Yeah you can get it online but it just isn't the same.

I feel your disappointment, too. However, it is still an absolutely fantastic feeling when you pay the cruise off, and you can print those docs without the wait. I admit I do the dance still. "I have my documents. I have my documents. Going on a cruise. Oh yeah, oh yeah!!!!" My family knows that I am nuts. So they just roll their eyes at me :-)

Yeah, Sandy, I know what you mean, but like scchasgal says, it's just not the same as getting that little packet in the mail.;)

Oh boy...those were the days. I remember our first couple of cruises on RC, and being so excited to get our docs and printed luggage tags in the mail with our name and stateroom number. The docs were spiral bound at first, then they turned into cheaper stapled versions. Now everything's online...but I still dance! :D

Sigh, I do miss getting that "special" envelope from my TA, or in the mail. (Ooops, what the hell was a PVP?:rolleyes:) And, I miss the luggage tags! Oh, well, such is life, eh? ;)

It's not the same! I remember my first few cruises when the docs arrived around 2 weeks before you left! There was always a thread about "doing the doc dance!"

My first cruise was back in the mailed document days. There was something about getting that packet in the mail that made it all feel real. It was so exciting. I was just thinking about this today. ;)

I wish they would give you the option to have it mailed and just charge a fee. I would pay 10 bucks or so to get some docs in the mail

I too miss it. I use to read cover to cover, repeatedly. Now we just do the digit countdown. I would be happy with the old luggage tags at this point.

Same here....I have kept the tradition alive by dancing in my co workers faces while my brown a$$ exits the building the last day before my cruise vacation:p

I heard/read somewhere that you can pay a $20 fee and they will mail you the documents...not sure how true that is.

 

 

I miss the doc dance also, those were the days. I will again download the boarding pass/luggage tags for our September cruise on the Glory..I do this in color so it seems a little better...LOL

 

 

I am booked with NCL for a trans-atlantic cruise and found out that NCL still sends the docs.

 

So I will at least get to do the doc dance for that cruise...LOL

Oh, yeah, I miss the "real" luggage tags, too. The printed ones folded or cut and laminated, just aren't as good. Oh, well, those were the days...

Funny! I remember waiting on them, in fact we got them one time about a week before the cruise... we were a bit panicky!

Dang, I would be panicky, too! I probably would have been on the phone to my TA! At least with the e-tickets we don't have THAT problem anymore.

Yea rememeber those times. I really do miss those time when i stand by the mailbox with the biggest grin on my face, reading the docs. But those times are gone, just like gas for $1.50

We still do the luggage tag dance with RCCL. While not as fun as the DOC dance we used to do. Im looking forward to it next week:D

On NCL you still get a book of information on your sailing and ship in the mail as well as luggage tags!

My first cruise was only 5 years ago!! The docs came in the mail for my first 2 cruises, then we had to do everything electronically!!

The only real luggage tags you get these days are those sad luggage tags

the out-bound ones you get on board the ship, on your last night.

 

Those things we get to print for ourselves hardly qualify. :cool:

 

 

I've always kept luggage tags

but then I collect anything that stands still long enough.
