Baristas question

This is such a little thing, but I am curious as to whether they serve cappiccinos/coffee in ceramic mugs? I saw the paper cups on the Baristas bar, but am hoping they can also serve it otherwise. It is such a nice. classy way to drink it:) I compare it to having wine in a paper cup vs. a glass. (Not a deal breaker though:-) Thanx to anyone who has the answer.:)

Unless things have changed ..it was only paper cups ..there is no where for them to store the dirty cups

I prefer cups as well.. just does not taste the same in a paper cup ;)

I guess you could always take a mug from the Terrace up ..

Too bad I did not think of that when we were on Marina ;)

Besides coffee at Brisistas, do they serve like hot chocolate or tea lattes for non coffee drinkers?

Not sure on the tea lattes ( never heard of them sounds like a Starbucks thing) ;)

they do have tea & HC

Does Baristas serve decaffinated coffee drnks? I would love to have a latte or cappuccino in the afternoon, but only if it is decaf. I think one of the problems with age is the inability to sleep if I drink coffee after noon.

Maybe you are talking about a version of chai tea. Hot and foamy! Chai is popular here and many coffee shops have it.

Glass and ceramic glasses. mugs, etc. do have a tendency to break if dropped, and this can be a problem especially in outside areas such as those around the pool or on the sun deck where guests may be barefoot. While it is also cost effective, cruise lines may say it is just a practical (though hardly desirable for guests) safety precaution.

When I asked one of the baristas on Marina about the paper vs china cup issue I was told that it was a space issue. The area was not designed with any storage space to keep clean cups or to handle dirty ones, Plus I guess since may people take their coffees with them, it easy for people to throw them away in one of the many trash cans than leave them around empty some where else for crew to pick up. (Not saying everyone would just sit a cup down on any surface, but...)

I would agree. Baristas is not really a comfy place to sit down and enjoy your latte. There are some stools and a small seating area but I found most people just got their drink and left. This is one of the areas of the new ships that was not really well thought out (as others have commented). It's more of a pass through area than a destination.

Thx to all whohave responded to my original question. I can see why and what they're doing. Even seeing the 'kind of' hallway Baristas is in, it would not be especially comfortable to linger long. Oh well...I'll just have to "suffer";)

Just off Marina today. About four days into our cruise they got Illy espresso and latte cups in Baristas, along with dishwasher. Makes all the difference!

Excellent! Perhaps 'someone' has been listening Thanks for the update Mo.

As far as a sitting area near the Barista, there are a few small tables and seating right before the Library on the left side.

Also, you can sit just outside, there's a door across from the computer area to go out. You can sit under a small canopy if it's not too windy. Nice little granite tables with chairs.

I was on the Marina last March (for my first Oceania cruise) and was at the Barista at least once if not twice a day. Great little pastries in the morning and two kinds of juices, biscotti all the time, and little sandwiches in the afternoon, I think till about 4pm.

The illy coffee is wonderful. I'm a double shot latte girl and I don't care what kind of cup it's in, just as long as it's hot and made strong.

Met some really nice people at the Barista, but then Oceania has really nice people throughout the entire ship.

I agree, I'll be on the Regatta in November and heard I'll have to probably forgo my double shot lattes. I've read somewhere that the bars have coffee machines and I know of the machines in the Terrace Buffet area which is not bad, not sure if they are of the same caliber as the Bartista's on the Marina, but I'll survive.

I had been on the Azamara a few years ago for just a 2-n jaunt, and they had a barista, if I can remember, near the Casino, small, with a few tables.

I wish Oceania would find a niche for one as well. I'm be on the Riviera next March so the Barista will be me every day if not twice day.

While there is no walk-up coffee bar on the R-ships you can order espresso, etc. in any of the restaurants (no charge)

Only during the hours they are open

If someone is in the Terrace you can ask at the bar area during off hours or use the self serve machine
