bookcat, I'm glad you like cruising, as I do too. I have done about 16 cruises in about 20 years, and hope to do one in September on the Golden Princess for a short cruise. I really like Carnival better, but that is OK. My husband retired at the age of 55, as he has diabetes real bad. I am STILL working at the age of 70, when most people would be retired, but I love my job. I work for a large corporation, and I'm sure you have heard of Kraft cheese, well I work for the company that puts out Borden (a competitor) cheese, as well as Starbucks, etc. I live in Kansas City, Missouri close to the airport.

Go for it - as long as you love your job and can do it -- I find 70 is not old... enjoy those cruises too!! Corkey Carol

Borden cheese is in out stores here. Use

it quite often. All of our cruises so far have been on Carnival. The one next May on Celebrity. Curious to see if there is much difference.

Hi Everyone,

We are into winter here now and for us that means rain, rain, rain, rain and just in case you didn't get it....rain! We will get the odd few days of freezing and sunny thrown into the mix now and then.

I think a few of you must be getting into high temperatures now. Lovely!

I have read back a bit and I am not sure if anyone is cruising soon, but if you are...have a great trip!:)

Is there anyone like me, who reads lots of the reviews and "live from" threads (regardless of cruise line)? I enjoy the chance to live vicariously. Some of them have had fantastic photos too.

Have a great week wherever you are!

Mary

Hi Mary

Rain is better than snow. We get about 80 in a yr here in Western NY. Last year only 48 in. In the Blizzard of 1977, we got 100 in over a weekend and 195 in during the winter. But no tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, landslides or floods.

There is a Celebrity Silhouette thread w. a lot of pictures. See

Same ship/itinerary as our 2-9-14 cruise.

love Gambee's write-ups and his photos-- Loved this ship - !!

While in Hawaii I booked RCCL's new Quantum = still in the making and the cruise I will be on seems like it's almost booked!! or so they say - I was able to call during the day I was suppose to and got my stateroom - 12th deck, mid ship-- and locked in a good price - already it's gone up $200... the roll call is crazy - it's wild and so many of the folks I have cruised with and have chatted with on CC are on this particular cruise - I know almost 35 couples on this cruise-- we are wondering where the M & M is going to be cuz seems like everyone on the cruise is on the roll call and most likely will sign up for the M&M -- two yrs out and we are all excited!! look into it -- hopefully some of you will sign up to - Carol

The Brilliance is another one of my most favorite ships!! love all the glass and seems no matter what public deck I am on, I see the ocean - unlike the Explorer/Voyager class and Freedom class, the inside main promenade is the focus - altho' I also love those classes of ships - heck! I love them all!!!! ha!ha!

Also love the Solstice class ships - ! I like the service of Celebrity - and thank goodness they honor my D+ status on X -- I have a new role - Host Corkey

Hi Carol

Congrats on your new role. We prefer Celebrity to RCI because of smoking policy, so we may not join you on Quantum. We are both 67 not quite 70.

Liz wants to visit all 800 covered bridges in the US, so we have concentrated on road trips until recently(550 cbs so far).

I understand about the no smoking on X -- that's what we enjoyed about it too - esp in the casinos - Wow!! good for you guys re: the cb's --

we have lots of Old quaint old bridges in our area here, but they are not Covered - I do enjoy taking their pics but need to take more - they are the draw bridges and sometimes they turn around to let the slightly bigger boats/yachts go thru- I live in the delta area 55 east of SF- you can probably google my area - Antioch, Oakley, Rio Vista, Walnut Grove .. .along the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers --

and thank you, I hope I will do good as being a CC host...

Gooseberry brownies. Oh my. I'm sure my husband as well as everyone else would love them too. I always make a good gooseberry cobbler. I don't mind making the pie/cobble/muffins, etc., but picking gooseberries is for the birds.:) Now that is WORK!;)

I am sure Tom has pics too --

Hi

Yes, 550 cbs is a lot. Liz has pictures of every one. After I retired, I started doing travelogues(pics and commentary) for the Vermont Covered Bridge Society.

See http://www.vermontbridges.com/newspage.htm

Scroll down to Keating trips. Previous trips archived in Collected Covered Bridge Articles. One of our trips was to California, where we visited cbs, trains and national/state parks(archive section). The only redwood cb in USA is in Felton, Ca.

Everyone have a great/safe 4th of July. We had our BIG picnic this past Saturday with 100+ people. The weather was perfect, with my 3 sons doing all the fireworks display that people think are as GREAT as some towns.:)

Sounds like fun. I'll be meeting Wendy soon, Allure cruise in November, and Emmy on the TA from Rotterdam on the Oasis in 2014. I have 3 pink boas since I'm in a flamingo collecting group and we always wear boas when we're together.

I'll be meeting both Chris and Wendy in November, on the Allure. Have yet to see them in person but I feel I know them from the Forums.
