Hi all,

I have just read through ALL of the postings! Love all the travel info! My name is Joyce, I live in So. Calif. in Orange county: Rancho Santa Margarita. Which is about around 18 miles from the beach. We enjoy cruising, road trips, camping, skiing, hiking, fishing, casinos (We are not smokers), gardening, reading, backyard bird watching (OK we are in the 55+ group for sure now).

DH: Mike and I have been married for 35 years! We still act like kids and still dance, swim, and do wild and crazy things! I hope we never grow old in spirit!

We have 2 grown kids: DS Ben and DD Cynthia and are both married; DIL Lisa and SIL Jason. No grandbabies yet. I hope they get with it soon though!

We cruise about once per year...I love getting ready for trips and research everything constantly about the ship and destinations we'll be visiting.

Our next trip is NCL Jewel out of New Orleans over Christmas...so excited!

Welcome to a fellow Californian - ! we sailed from NOLA last Feb and we loved being able to stay in NOLA for 4 days after our cruise - I know you are excited - I would be if I were sailing from there again! Host Corkey Carol

JoAnn and Cheryl: I do hope you end up sharing a cruise - these boards are so good in bringing folks together and making them life long friends!

JoAnn: I just saw your entry on the LIVE from the Allure that my friend Chris (Bugsy) is on with some other Pink Boa Cruisers - they are all on my April 2015 sailing on the Quantum of the Seas - there is also another LIVE thread going on at the same time by MrFunInTheSun -

Dear Carol, I feel like I know you already because I've been reading through all the posts in the last couple of days on this thread and on the California cruisers 2 thread. (although I haven't gotten too far along on that one yet...on page 55 or so:eek:).

Anyway you seem like a very nice lady and I would love to cruise with you and your DH some day. (We'll have to get back on RCCL though). But NCL gives us such good offers through 'casinos at sea' that we can't pass it up:p.

Looking foward to 2 days in NOLA prior to cruise and 1 day after. Love the city, food, music and the freindly people there! We have restaurant and tour reccommendations lined up!

I loved our transatlantic voyages on the QE2! Westbound was definitely the best, as each day lasted 25 hours.....gave us an extra hour of dancing each night in the disco =)

I have original deck plans which I had Capt. Warwick autograph when we were onboard....those were the good old days, when the cruise line would mail you these beautiful drawings and of the ship's plans. I had quite a collection.

Yes, I am a cruise ship addict. There could be worse things to which one could be addicted, right?

Will continue to think about your sept sailing on Breakaway~~ it sounds fun and it is so nice to have all those beautiful days in Bermuda. Sounds like you have a fun group lined up. What sorts of cabins did you book?

Now that I've done my first "solo" trip, I'm ready to head back out again!

I did not expect to like the QE 2 crossing . Our children were young and although the company build the cruise as a family friendly one, there were no activities for children. However we all had a good time, the food, and our small group of friends. It was really special being on a true otion liner with a history. Regarding the September cruise, three of my old high school friends are now travel agents and are working hard to organize the group possibilities for the cruise. We've opened it up to friends of friends because sometimes the more the merrier.

I thought you meant OCEAN, thought maybe that is a new version =)

We loved the history of the Cunard Line and all the proper British customs. As a kid, I think it was good shipboard training for us.... learned so much and had so much fun.

Poor old QE2 sits in the middle east, it makes me sad to think of that sleek and elegant vessel lingering there. Wish the Brits would buy it back and do a "queen mary" sort of operation.

have you ever been to long beach to visit the old QM?

quite an eerie experience, I found.

have you started posting on the roll call for your trip? I'll go have a look.

I better get back to work, or I'm never gonna be able to travel again!

later~~

I dislike posting from my phone. It makes word changes that are improperly spelled. I know how to spell the word ocean (it's NOT "otion"! . Lol

--same happens with my Ipad, but I go back and redo the word then it does what "I" want it to...

Love your travel stories! Carol

Hi Joyce - thank you........feel free to join in ANY of the threads I am on - the CA one is a bit slower now but it's still there from when I started it - all the folks there are very nice - most of the original posters have joined me in other threads tho' - I am on a What Are You Having For Dinner thread and that's a cute one cuz we all go in and tell each other what we are having for dinner! ha!ha! check it out!

I am sure NCL is nice - however, we stay with RCCL cuz of the points we have accumulated and want to continue to gather - I think all ships are nice and all cruises are also -

Well, today I need to go out and do errands and it's gloomy and dreary out there - suppose to rain - bet it's nice in So-Cal..

Hope Everyone is having a nice day!

Hi Corkey

I have sent you polar bear pics, and Panama Canal cruise pics. I also added you to my cruise pics list, so you will get upcoming trips. There is also a picture of our 3 grans taken by Gin a couple of weeks ago. All 3 are well. Julia was in the hospital this summer for a regular "lung cleanout"--happens once a year. Pat had one last spring--heavy duty intravenous antibiotics.

Julia is very excited at the birth of a new cousin. Killian was born at only 28 wks--son of Liz' niece. He will in the hospital until at least Xmas.

Tom:)

Your Grands are so cute - hope they continue to do well, as long as these treatments are routine and not Emergency types -- I love all your pics - thank you soooo much for sharing!

Please keep us informed of little Killian - prayers will be offered for his growth and strength -

Hi Carol. I'm actually thinking of investing in an iPad or something similar that would be easier to travel with than my MACbook Pro laptop (which I shlep everywhere). I don't have an iPhone, I have an Android as I much prefer the Samsung Galaxy S3 to the iPhone. Cheryl

Hi Joann. I live in the capital district of the great state of New York - way upstate near Albany. It's about 175 miles from Manhattan but I'm often in Brooklyn (a borough of New York City) as my elderly mother lives there. For the Carnival Splendor cruise out of the port of New York, I can actually book one of the Yankee Trails express busses at $45 each way straight to the pier BUT a friend has generously offered to drive me, my daughter and her friend. He'll drive my car and I'll pay for gas, of course, but it's not only cheaper than parking at the pier, it's more pleasant and removes the inconvenience of my having to drive. As for the Breakaway cruise in September, three of my old high school buddies are travel agents and although they're located in Florida (and I'm not!), we've been conferencing many phone calls, (even a Face Time on our Macs) and emails to coordinate and organize the group trip, with several different cabin types being held. What I like about the Breakaway is that it seems kinder to solo travelers than other ships. Cheryl

I LOVE my Ipad - so convenient for travelling - my husband as an Iphone and I don't yet -- I still have a Hello/Goodbye phone! it's a flip phone too!! ha!ha! but it's soooo cute! my ipad is the

regular one, heavy, as oppsed to the mini one = a new air one has just come out and it's suppose to be lighter - compare the Ipad to the Samsung Tablet -

I travel with my Ipad and my 2 kindles - altho' my books are also in my

Ipad - plus my music from ITunes and Cloud system.

Hi Carol

I'm pleased that you liked the pics. Thanks for the prayers. Killian is now 1lb 8oz up from 1lb3. At birth, his masculinity was not evident and he was named Cambria. He peed on his mom when she was changing his diaper and the truth came out.

Regarding your preference for RCCL, are you aware that Celebrity is a sister company and you enjoy perks there w/o losing any RCCL points?

As for past cruise pics that I could send you, there are Russian river cruise, 2 Caribbean cruises and 1 Mediterranean.

Also, I don't know if you are a chocolate fan, but I recently acquired a free Kindle chocolate recipe book thru Bookbub. It was a 1 day special.

Liz has not used any recipes from it--she is lactose intolerant--but I couldn't resist free. I have a friend w. an ipad and he buys Kindle books w. a free Kindle app. I have a Kindle and love it for cruises.

Hi Tom - actually, I like Milk Choc but try not to make it a habit to eat choc a lot... I like to make German Choc cakes (box mixes) and also the Milk Choc cake - oh, but I can't resist a good Rum Choc Cake = !!

I love my Kindles - and collect cookbooks of all types - I have over 1000 but I still don't know what to fix for dinner most of the time - and I am not a very good cook - I just like to read the cookbooks and drool over the pics!

that's cute about your little Cambria - oh my - I can't picture a teeny tiny baby as small as he is - will certainly continue my prayers that he will be A-ok and develop into a handsome and feisty little Boy SOON...

I do like the advantages of being an Elite on Celebrity because of the points I make on RCCL - I am fine with that privilege - the points on X do not add up anymore to RCCL perks - both good cruiselines ... I just tend to want to have more points toward RCCl . carol

Yes, I agree. It would be nice if there was a forum for us cruisers who are 55+ and over. At one time I was on one, but I have no clue what has happened to it since.

I am 70, but everyone thinks I am much younger than that, maybe because of the way I look and act. :)

Wellllllllllll as you can see, I am LATE in reading all my emails, but I am home on vacation, and "trying" to catch up. :)

Yes, I hope everyone on this forum had a great Thanksgiving, and a wonderful Christmas. We live in Missouri, and most people like to have SNOW for Christmas. To say the least, we DID have snow, and some ICE :mad:on the ground for Christmas, but the sun is shining beautiful now, and trying to melt everything, which is fine with me.:)

i don't know when I will be back on this forum, but I want to wish everyone a wonderful 2014, and stay healthy.

Here in Kansas City, Missouri we are definately using the snow blowers, shovels, and anything else we can find to shovel our snow, with ICE underneath. The worst part.... is the ARTIC blast of air we have. Tomorrow which is Monday, we are to have a "-7" degrees. Burr!!! Bring on spring and summer as I am READY now!!! When you have to go out in this kind of weather for work, it does make a difference.
