Jolimont Posted July 21, 2012 #26 Share Posted July 21, 2012 The Epic is the only ship that I know of in NCL fleet that does not have a promenade deck. That is good to know, all the more reason for us to try some of the other NCL ships!
che5904 Posted July 21, 2012 #27 Share Posted July 21, 2012 I answered this on the RCL board too. Here's my list edited for NCL: My favorites from other posters on the original thread: 1. lazy river (this may not be logistically possible but wouldn't it be awesome! 2. waterpark in all ships 3. self serve laundry 4. in-room coffee maker or keurig 5. better (free) coffee Also: 1. the option for traditional dining (same waiter each night who can anticipate your needs) 2. the option of expedited meals in the MDR 2. cs reps that are knowledgeable and reliable 3. enclosed pool area (open to ALL ages) for ships that routinely sail out of New England 4. ice skating rink 5. roller blading track 6. lower room:steward ratios so service is better 7. lower table:server ratios so service is better 8. royal promenade (like on RCL voyager class) 9. better layout of buffet to decrease lines 1. Already being worked on, on NCL private island GSC 4. Already in balconies and up 5. subjective, but I also don't like the coffee on NCL, but have read a lot of posts from ones who do. Also: 1. You can request the same waiter, eat at the same time every night and request to sit with strangers (make your own traditional dining) 2. Never had an issue with this. We just inform our wait staff that we are in a hurry 4. tried that on the Epic, it didn't work (Shown on undercover boss) The staff went to all the work of putting it in and nobody showed up to use it. 6. & 7. we never had an issue with this 8. have no idea what this is, never been on RCI
Dolphins Posted July 21, 2012 #28 Share Posted July 21, 2012 Especially for those ships sailing year round out of New York, at least one large solarium pool similar to RCI and Princess or a retractable roof for the outside pool similar to HAL. riddle Posted July 21, 2012 #29 Share Posted July 21, 2012 A specialty coffee card such as their soda card. (Princess has this)

Book in the Haven - they have a covered pool for the suites that have access to it. It's awesome - especially sailing out of a cold climate going to a warmer one. HMK8273 Posted July 21, 2012 #34 Share Posted July 21, 2012 Wish list for itineraries - - NCL to sail out of Baltimore again and return to South America - not just the Panama Canal run - but going around the southern tip. Wish list for stuff on ships - - Separate smoking v. non-smoking casinos would be awesome - but too much $$ to get instituted - even on new builds. - Free internet and laundry for suites and higher - Princess does this and its wonderful. - No charge access to cash in the casinos by charging on board accounts (like they used to) - if you want me to lose my money in the casino don't charge me for the privilege - you are probably going to get it anyway. - Figure out a better way of distributing alcohol purchases on the last night of the cruise instead of the cattle call that happens. I always think of things while I am on board but drawing a blank now. :(

dutchess43 Posted July 21, 2012 #36 Share Posted July 21, 2012 I would like to bring wine onboard & if I want to drink it in my cabin not to be charged the corking fee. A covered pool for leaving out of NY would really be nice.

luv2cruise53 Posted July 21, 2012 #38 Share Posted July 21, 2012 Here's my wish list: Bigger Pools An open air theater like carnival - at night we would watch movies on the pool deck they gave people blankets and had popcorn. A real dancing with the stars show, where the pros really know how to ballroom dance or pro dance classes. A dessert shop or better desserts Wine & Tapas bar. Better children's program But I'm quite happy with all they offer but if I had the power, this would be it. A dessert shop is already in most lobbys or atriums. i.e coffee bar with multi-desserts Ballroom dancing is coming on the Breakaway i.e. Burn the floor The Kids program is considered the best in the Industry i.e. Nicklodeon and second rated only to Disney A raw bar with wine is coming on the Breakaway I would like to see a surf wave pool like on RCCL
luv2cruise53 Posted July 21, 2012 #39 Share Posted July 21, 2012 I think offering the Chef's Table twice on a 7 night cruise would be awesome. A Craft Beer Bar - their regular selection would be served at all the other bars, but craft beers local to the port of embarkation (i.e. - Cigar City Brewing in Tampa) would only be served there. Cooking Class. It wouldn't be hard to set up a rechaud or two or more, plus some cutting boards/knives in some area on the ship and teach those of us who love to cook some of their recipes. Treat your steward to dinner. We always fill out the STYLE cards for people that have treated us well on the cruise. It would be nice to take them to dinner one night - the last steward we had was absolutely awesome, and we always enjoy learning about where they're from, family, what brought them to NCL, etc... I don't think there'd be a crap ton of people taking their stewards to dinner, but it would be nice to have the option or an organized way to do it without impacting the work skeds or other cruisers. Again, Breakaway will have cooking classes with new Chef Zakarian from Food Network who is opening 3 seafood venues on Breakaway
luv2cruise53 Posted July 21, 2012 #40 Share Posted July 21, 2012 adult pool relaxation area like rccl radiance class ships......freei second, third better desserts....even in the speciality res they are not very good Freestyle sundecks are for Adults only H2o on Epic and coming on Breakaway are for adults only Posh on Epic and Vibe on Breakaway are adults only Kev:cool:
luv2cruise53 Posted July 21, 2012 #41 Share Posted July 21, 2012 Late night adult comedians. One hot breakfast option on the room service menu for regular rooms. Better cheesecake in the MDR. Allow a 'special occasion' bottle of wine brought on with no fee. I am pretty happy with NCL overall but there are always some little tweaks that canmake things better :) The Epic and Breakaway have late night adult only second city shows and I believe the rest of the fleet is also doing this or soon will :D Kev:cool:
luv2cruise53 Posted July 21, 2012 #42 Share Posted July 21, 2012 The Epic is the only ship that I know of in NCL fleet that does not have a promenade deck. Correct, and the new Breakaway will also not have a wrap around promenade but it does have a connecting hall to the opposite side and is 3/4 of a mile long:D kev:cool:
rubytue Posted July 21, 2012 #43 Share Posted July 21, 2012 Wish list for itineraries - - NCL to sail out of Baltimore again and return to South America - not just the Panama Canal run - but going around the southern tip. This times a bazillion! But I'm wondering if the skips are too tall for the Key Bridge. I know the CCL whale tail barely clears.

jbscoggins Posted July 21, 2012 #46 Share Posted July 21, 2012 Due to my current status as the mother of a 9 month old, I'd love at least some babysitting or drop-in nursery available during dinner time for that age range. Don't need port play or anything crazy. I want to go on vacation with my child, but the ability to do a Specialty restaurant or the Chef's Table without the baby would be nice. I'd pay pretty well for that on my upcoming cruise. My husband wants NCL to switch to Coke products instead of Pepsi.
Tatka Posted July 21, 2012 #47 Share Posted July 21, 2012 - Larger cabins - Stronger drinks - Minigolf - Movies under the Stars (like on Princess ships) - Better quality Lobster in regular restaurants. Although I am happy with most of the things we experienced with NCL - One of the best entertainments (big shows and small musical performances) - Best shower stalls in regular cabins - Better organized anytime dining
dznymom Posted July 21, 2012 #48 Share Posted July 21, 2012 My husband wants NCL to switch to Coke products instead of Pepsi. YES!! I'd rather pay the onboard price for Coke rather than carry it on like I do now thanks to them only carrying Pepsi products.
