First cruise soda or water

This is our first cruise and we are driving to our port- Vancouver. Can we pack soda/pop and bottled water in our cases?

It might depend which line you're travelling with. Not all cruise companies have the same rules.

Princess allows you to bring soda and water onboard.

 

However, there is no need for bottled water. Just bring your own bottle to fill on board from the dispensers (or from glasses filled from the dispensers).

Agreed, there is no reason for bringing water on board. The ship's water is about the best, in taste and purity, you can find.

I think all of the main cruiselines will allow water and soda (in reasonable amounts!) to be brought aboard. RCI states NO beverages at all, but they tend to ignore anything but alcoholic stuff.

Princess allows you to carry on soda and/or water. As others have said the tap water on Princess is better than most bottled.

Princess and Hal allow unlimited or almost unlimed wine also ( have brought ***** several bottles on Princess and over a case on HAL)

As stated above, the water onboard is fine. We usually bring a bottle of water each to drink as we wait to board..then refill on the ship. We also bring a few sodas for drinking in our cabin occasionally.:)

The water on the ships is way better than what we get at home.

We pack collaspable water bottles that we fill on the ship to take with us when we go on an excursion.

I took some ginger ale onto a HAL ship and nobody said boo. Though they also probably knew what it was for ;)

If we choose to bring sodas on board, do we have to bring them on board with our carry-on luggage and haul them around with us til we get a room, or can we put a luggage tag on them and have them checked with all of our other luggage? I'm hoping a luggage tag is the answer! My hubby likes his Dr. Peppers, and I think he'll want to bring some along, but I don't want to lug 'em around til we can get in our room! :eek:

 

What's the procedure for this? We will be on the Carnival Magic.

I bought mine at a grocery store in the port city and put it in my checked luggage. This was on HAL so I'm not sure how other lines work

Carnival specifies that water/soda needs to be in carry on and not checked luggage. :)

Carnival is different than Princess. Carnival allows 12 cans or bottles of water or soda. Each must be 20 ounces or less an all must be in the carryon.

With Princess, they can be in either your checked or carryon luggage. Plus on Princess, the cabins are ready when boarding starts.
