Carnival Glory disembark New York

We are sailing on the Carnival Glory 9/22/12 and have a flight out the day after we port back in. Can anyone tell us what time we should expect to be off the ship to meet our car service? We are not sure what time to have the car service meet us.

I disagree with the 9am car service pick up time recommended in an earlier post. To make that you'll have to hope everything runs on schedule and also do self disembarkation. There can be substantial lines for clearing customs and immigration in NY.

Particularly since you're in no hurry, I recommend a 10 am pick up. It will give you plenty of time to disembark, clear customs and immigration, and you won't have to drag your own luggage off the ship (unless you want to).

I disagree with the 9am car service pick up time recommended in an earlier post.

I have to agree with NJH an disagree with the 9a. Our Glory return we were stuck in the Hudson for 30 minutes waiting for an NCL ship to pull into 88 before we tied up at 90.

That put us behind and they didn't start calling for unassisted debark until almost 9am.

I would call them just as you leave the ship. Manhattan Port has been even known to stop debarkation for awhile and start up. That happened to me on the Jewel.

Could be that I have no luck (well I don't in the casino).

FWIW

Arrange a car service in advance to go to EWR. You may find the cab drivers not willing to go to EWR.

Technically, NYC taxis are required to go to EWR ( that's the only out of state trip they're required to make), but I agree that it's better to arrange in advance for a car service pick up.

Since the taxi fare to EWR includes a $15 surcharge over the metered fare, you might actually pay a bit less for a car service than a taxi...and you often get to ride in a better car with a better driver to boot. Just remember that the fares quoted by the car services don't include tolls and tip...but taxi fares also don't.

Try these car services:

DCT, there are two other ships in port with us the day we come back so if you want to catch a taxi, I'd be among the first off the ship or you may have to wait for a little bit.

You can either go right out the same level as we walk through after customs in the terminal (if you have your luggage with you), or go down one level and across the street to get taxis.

Thanks Car service looks like the way to go. Thanks for the links. I have never been on a ship I wasn't out the door by 9:00. Im afraid if I do 10:00 Ill be waiting outside for an hour. Where does the car service pick you up.
