Radioguyaz Posted October 18, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Is it standard practice to tip the room service guy or is it included in your pre paid gratuities? I'm all for good service but I'm not going to pay a guy twice for doing his job once.. Any and all thoughts welcome..
Langley Cruisers Posted October 18, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Is it standard practice to tip the room service guy or is it included in your pre paid gratuities? Not included in the pre-paid, so a tip is always appreciated. The four people covered in your pre-paid tips are cabin attendant, waiter, assistant waiter, and head waiter. trojan3000 Posted October 18, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2012 it is not in your pre paid we always tip a couple of dollars
highlandlassie Posted October 18, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Room service was free/included on my last cruise, you don't have to tip. I asked/emailed RCC before I left. However we still gave $3 and that was for breakfast. if it is for a drink, then the 15% will be added to your bill
gcvt Posted October 18, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2012 We always tip a minimum of $3 "per tray" from room service. This is not included in the prepaid.
xxHadleyxx Posted October 18, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 18, 2012 We always take a stash off small bills and do tip room service. if they are bringing just cookies or just an ice cram bar (on a different line--my son has one daily) then we generally just tip a dollar but if they have to assemble a tray we tip 3-5. Clarea Posted October 18, 2012 #7 Share Posted October 18, 2012 I agree with the posters above that a tip of a few dollars is welcome. I just want to add that it's best to have the tip ready, because the room service people are in and out very quickly.
gabbygrrl Posted October 18, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 18, 2012 What would a suggested tip be if they are delivering dinner for 2 in a suite?

PattyG12 Posted October 18, 2012 #10 Share Posted October 18, 2012 I always keep a pile of ones in our safe in case DH wants to order something while I'm not there. It never hurts to tip a couple bucks especially when they get there quickly!
cb at sea Posted October 18, 2012 #11 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Yes...it's common practice to tip for room service. It's the kitchen staff who delivers...they are NOT covered by the suggested tips.
LovesCruising Posted October 18, 2012 #12 Share Posted October 18, 2012 We always order at least coffee/juice from room service just to have while preparing for breakfast. We put a couple of dollars out the night before so its ready for the server when he arrives.

However we still gave $3 and that was for breakfast. if it is for a drink, then the 15% will be added to your bill While you don't have to tip, it is customary to do so in the case of room service as it is not included in other pre-paid gratuities. The only exception I am aware of is the "off hours" room service (midnight to 5AM???) where there is a charge for any room service, which supposedly includes your tip.
