"LIVE" from Enchantment of the Seas / Jan 5, 2013

When you buy the beverage package your tumblers are RFID enabled to interact with the machines. You put your tumbler into the machine, it "reads" the chip on the bottom of the cup and activates the machine. Select the beverage you want, press dispense, and your cup fills up. The choices of flavours are almost endless.

You can only fill once every 15 minutes. The machines are interconnected between each other across the ship so just going to another machine doesn't work.

We LOVED LOVED LOVED these machines on Explorer, hence why I've been so vocal about them in this thread - we are sailing on Enchantment in March.

Radio, thanks for the update on the machines via the captain - so very glad to hear they will be installed before our sailing!

I'm surprised to see the exterior pics still showing a lot of hull rust - I would have figured that they would have done a lot more work on the ship during the refit, but the more I read your review the more I think I'm starting to realize that this was more of a "spruce up" versus a full blown refit.

Thanks again, enjoying all your updates immensely! I'm getting a good laugh out of your coffee related comments - from one coffee addict to another, I raise a hot cup of Starbucks in your honor! :D

Hi Mark. I'm a retired Navy Captain. Just wanted to comment on your astute observation on hull rust. I can tell you, having been a surface sailor, that keeping up with the corrosive effects of salt air is a neverending struggle. I'm sure the ship came out of refit "virtuously white". Places like the Anchor Hawse pipe are always going to be a challenge to keep in that pristine state. I'm betting sometime on the current cruise, in one of the ports, the onboard "boatswains mates" will address this "blemish".

Radio I so love your LIVE post. I know you will miss Enchantment in your home town but I am trilled it is coming to Fl.Does the Park Cafe Have the Roast Beef Sandwiches everyone loves, I didn't see it on the menu board. What deck is Diamond and conciege located?. Sorry that the casino is not Radio friendly. On most cruises it has not been Tigger friendly. What deck are you on. I always do balconeys and want to know what deck to avoid. It has been a long time since I've been on Enchantment. Sorry to see Capt Gus leave. I know you speak highly of him. Again Thank You Soooo Much for your review. Would love to cruise with you sometime. Pat

Thanks for the fantastic day to day updates and all the gorgeous pictures. I have never "tuned in to a Radio thread" and I'm sooo glad I found this one!!

I was hooked from the beginning of the thread and now I can't wait to see even more pictures after you return home. Wow....we are very fortunate that you do this for all of us!!!

We have cruised on the Enchantment 4 times from the port of Baltimore and we will be honored to cruise on her last voyage out of Baltimore in April. It will be bitter/sweet.

Thanks again for a wonderful journey!!! :)

Hello everyone. . . I had a busy day today, and I have to admit that I haven’t really done all the things I wanted to do. I went to the Galley Tour this morning, and then hung out with some friends at Park Café . I really love the variety of choices at the Park Café. . .most (but not all) are healthy choice snacks, and it just seems to be a more peaceful area for dining. I never really saw any kids there. . .I know it is an adult area, and I am sure that there may have been some children around. . . just not when I was there.

The Captains Talk was very informative. Luke Aerowsmith hosted the event while the Captain, Chief Engineer, and Hotel Director answered questions from passengers. The Captain started off the talk with a lot of humor as he suggested that the 4 people on stage would answer any question. . .if they don’t know the answer, they would make something up !

The Bridge Tour is always a highlight of mine, and this tour was hosted by one of the 2nd Officers on board. Captain Gus stopped up midway through the tour and many of us were able to receive a photo with the Captain while on the Bridge. I liked the confidence that the 2nd Officer had while explaining details about how things operated on the Bridge of a Cruise ship.

I just returned from dinner in the My Fair Lady Dining Room, and it did not disappoint. . .Most dinners for me have been wonderful, but I was happy to eat casual a few nights, and go to Chops on the 1st night.

We just picked up the Pilot at the Cape Henry Pilot station at 8:30. . .he will help to guide us up the Chesapeake Bay throughout the night. We are scheduled for arrival at Cruise Maryland (at the Port of Baltimore) by 7AM.

I will be forced to leave, but I am pretty sure that about 2500 new passengers will wake up with a very big smile on their face tomorrow morning. . .and even a bigger smile when they embark the beautiful Enchantment of the Seas. . .

Here are a few pics from today. . .more pics tomorrow morning !

Thanks for tuning in. . .

Drat! It just seems like yesterday that "we" sailed away from Cruise Maryland. And now this is the last day and "we" have to pack. The internet outage did make the cruise seem shorter since there were days with no reports from Radio.

As always enjoyed your carefully orchestrated pictorial essays. It is a lot harder to do then it looks, including remembering when to take what pictures.
