The hair dryers on board are the kind that you need to keep the button continuously depressed, so you may want to bring your own dryer, or a rubber band to hold the button down.

I never thought of the rubber band trick to keep the blow drier button on. Geez, I take binder clips to close the curtains.

We have always done a balcony in the past but the price had jumped up last year (for 2017) so we decided to try a Promenade stateroom to save a little $$. We REALLY missed our balcony! But I can't complain. We were in the Caribbean after all! It was in a GREAT place though. First room off the aft elevators. So easy to get to many places! Booked a balcony next year :)

Thanks for reporting back. I booked my Adventure cruise 700 days ago when it first came out the prices were ridiculously low. We got a Junior Suite for about 60% of what we paid for a D class balcony on Oasis last year. The price has since more than doubled, so we are very anxious to be on board.

While on board, we decided to hold several weeks and then when the new schedule comes out in March, book for 2019. We've never heard of that before meeting some new friends on this last cruise. They said they are cheapest when they first come out. We'd love to do a Jr Suite as we only need a couple weeks before Diamond!

I can't thank you enough for sharing that information. We are trying to schedule one for June 2018 as our anniversary (30th) gift to ourselves to go Emerald. Our hopes are either to find a suite for January 2018 cruise at a good price or to get it for June.

Hey B&J_Pgh! Seems like Freedom was so long ago already, doesn't it? The southern itinerary is our favorite, and we love Adventure of the Seas! We have it booked for March, 2018. That being said, January is part of the high season for San Juan, PR. People from colder places try to escape the snow. As soon as you book your cruise, get your hotel(s) booked if you plan to stay pre/post cruise. They definitely can fill up.

Happy Planning!

How does one become aware of a cruise that far in advance. We are hoping March 1 to be able to schedule one for end of June/beginning of July 2018. Is this a prefered status of being Diamond or above or something?

Thanks for dropping us a line. So sorry we missed meeting. I guess we are still cheap or optimistic as this will be our second time leaving from PR and feeling like the onboard time being so late we won't be staying overnight. That's what some of my concern over the Festival likely being that weekend has made me a bit nervous but not quite nervous enough to anty up the extra bucks which we are hoping can be used to upgrade to a Junior Suite later on. Thank you for your warning though.

The timing was just right, we usually cruise around the end of April /early May. We had just gotten home from Freedom May of 2015 and one of our roll call friends made us aware of the great prices for April 2017, we were astounded at the price and booked it immediately.

I'm getting to the point for my next cruise that I do something cruise related every day. I'll spend a few upcoming Saturday mornings studying the deck plans as it has been 8 years since we have been on a Voyager class ship. Does anyone know if the deck plans on Royal's site are up to date at least a little ? Is the Diamond Club still up on Deck 14 near the VCL? I know Chops isn't open yet, but it is really going to be deck 4? I kind of thought it would be up near the Windjammer like it was when I was on Navigator back in 09.

From what I understand Chops is on Deck 4, it took over one of the nightclubs I believe. I don't think they've made any changes to the DL/SL/CLs at this time.

Yes the diamond lounge is up on 14 in Blue Moon, Viking Crown. Chops is going to be on deck 4 right outside of Schooner Bar, Casino, and Lyric Theatre.

What used to be there?

Never mind I found it. Looks like it used to be Jester's

Which side is port side. Is it the same side on all ports?

Port is the left side of the ship when you are facing the front of the ship. (Port and left both have four letters-that's a simple way to remember it if you can't just remember the fact)

The Diamond lounge is on deck 14. Chops will be on deck 4 as stated by Previous poster. I have photos of the Diamond lounge.

I was told in September on Adventure they were gonna add Izumi. Sometimes RCI confuses me profoundly [emoji849]

Cindy

They have not even finished adding Chops yet.

I had heard that a restaurant was going to replace the Sports Bar, so maybe Izumi is still in the plan, but I have not seen mention of it lately.

There was a problem with the dry dock. Hurricane Matthew destroyed and delayed critical shipping containers. Therefore many of the planned changes did not take place. Some of the changes did happen. The sports deck got a flow rider, water slides, and a new golf course. The pool deck got a water park. Chops will open in March. Izumi has been put on indefinite hold.
