Settle this Argument for us.... To wear Jeans or not

Personally, jeans do not belong on a cruise. This has been said many times, but lots of people look sloppy today. Save jeans for working in the yard.

Actually we were at Wallmart yesterday and the people were dressed very nicely. Maybe it was formal day, dunno......:D

It is one's personal preference if they chose to wear jeans or not since it is allowed by the cruise line, but to call people that wear them sloppy - WOW! I've seen a lot of people looking better and more fashionable in jeans than those that are wearing other outfits on my cruises.

Just IMHO...that is not rude. As a society I find that many, not all tend to look sloppy. You would think that on vacation people would want to look nice. I do not care for the formal attire either, no ball gowns or tuxes, but a good country club casual is a pleasant compromise.

Hopefully, we are never on the same cruise, because, although I don't usually wear jeans, I really hate people that are judgmental and rude.

I say Let him wear his Jeans, we wear ours and dont care what others think. :eek: As long as we like them dont matter what anyone else thinks. We do dress to the nines on formal nights, but the others we will mostly be in jeans. :D

Don't worry, we won't see you. Did our last big ship in June, but we are in the same state. Why does this get people so upset, it is an opinion, and we all have them. So sorry that this caused you to be stressed.

Love my jeans will wear them every night except for formal, and could care less what others think, cruising Sat 14 nights on Eclipse an have my Yard Jeans Packed LMAO :rolleyes:

i love to dress up especially on cruises.... Probably i overdress. But, dh is super casual. So tonight we argued over whether he can/should wear jeans in the mdr or specialty restaurants...i say his jeans (normal jeans, not dressy but not torn) are too casual. He says half the guys will be in jeans....

 

Thoughts? Also, does dh need a jacket or tie in specialty restaurants? Hope not.... As i can't seem to even get him out of jeans! At least i will be looking fab! Lol

An opinion is "I really don't like jeans and don't think they are appropriate on a cruise", being rude and judgmental is saying people that wear jeans are sloppy (which is false) or inferring that all people who shop at Walmart are sloppy (which is not true). Well, I certainly hope you don't cruise on Crystal (a small ship), because I cruise with them as well. BTW, I never get stressed because of judgmental or rude people.

The guys that do the tux thing?? if they really enjoy wearing those monkey suits, ???? Most of them are coerced by their better halfs and go to the cabin and change as soon as they can after dinner to get normal again.;)

 

My husband does the "monkey suit" thing and I do not coerce him and he leaves it on all night. I have suggested he just bring a suit, but he loves wearing it and he looks great in it. We are "slobs" I guess, who wear nothing but jeans all year round since we both work at home. This is our chance to get dressed up and we both enjoy it.

I wear jeans everywhere but on a cruise. The khakis are way more comfortable. By the way, I needed a good laugh today so thanks for starting this thread. Anyone that get's their underwear (sorry) in a bundle on these proper dress threads is just providing entertainment to the rest of us. :D

Not sure why Anyone cares what others wear?? But I will wear a suit to keep my wife happy--keeping other cruisers happy is not my concern,lol Yes I am polite--I don't smoke at all, I'm not loud,lol--I simply mind my own business. As long as people are clean, don't stink of body odor, all is good!!

I just asked DH if he ever had, or would he ever, wear jeans at night on a cruise ship. Emphatic NO. He is wearing them now, wears them everyday at home, but does bring nice pressed khakis or slacks for non-formal nights, generally worn with a long sleeved shirt, and a dark suit and tie for formal nights.

 

We also pack in 24" suitcases, one each, and our last cruise vacation extended to 6 weeks. So the excuse of, 'well, I don't want to pay extra baggage fees' is just nonsense IMO. If we can do it, anybody can do it!

My husband won't wear them on Caribbean vacations because he thinks they're too heavy and uncomfortable. He usually packs light coloured dress slacks or khakis.

 

But for all you guys who do? Rock on with your bad selves! *winks*
