I have pretty thick hair and never had a problem with the ones provided.

We have always brought our hair dryer/blower, 99% of the time. I think one cruise I forgot mine and found that although I have fairly thick hair, the ones inside the drawer worked pretty well, albeit the annoying fact that you need to hold the on button to keep it depressed so it stays on.

I tape the button so I don't need to hold it with my finger while I'm drying my hair. Works like a charm;):)

Smart!! I thought about using a hair tie, like a rubber band, but I like the tape idea better! :)

They're allowed, however we travelled from the UK and my hairdryer didn't have the same power on the ship. In fact the ship's hair dryer worked better and I have very think hair
