Should Carnival rotate ships?

Should Carnival rotate some ships giving some cruisers who sail from only one port the opportunity to sail different ships. Such as, swap the Dream with the Freedom or the Breeze, or Fascination with the Fantasy. Might be too costly to do this though...

They ABSOLUTELY should do this!!!:D:D The only limitations that I can think of, are the ports where the ships have to go under a bridge, and there is limited clearance. IE; The Breeze out of Baltimore-NOT happening. The Pride barely clears those bridges:mad::mad: I am all for it. Anyone know if the NY bridges can take a larger ship?

I don't know if it can be done, but I would love it. I'm one of those that are limited to sailing out of our home port.

But how LUCKY are you, that it's on the Magic?:D:D Would LOVE to cruise on her!!!! Wish I lived in a state that HAD a port. Grrrrrrr:mad::mad:

What sort of frequency do you require for this rotation idea?

I reckon Carnival already rotates ships, but their corporate frequency may not suit you.

I live in the islands.

Prior to November 2008, we used to see DESTINY every Wednesday of life.

Between November 2008 and February 2013,

we used to see VICTORY every Wednesday of life.

Since mid-February 2013 we now see VALOR every Wednesday of life.

Does that qualify as rotation?

Carnival absolutely already rotates ships. I agree with above poster, it might not be on your schedule, but they already rotate ships.

We used to have Ecstasy out of Galveston, now its out of Florida. Triumph was out of NOLA and moved to Galveston, Conquest is being moved from NOLA and Sunshine replacing it. (and before this conquest went out of Galveston)

The two fantasy class ships that used to be on the west coast, Elation and Paradise were both moved and swapped out.

The ship out of San Juan is being swapped out.. and so on. Splendor was on the west coast and now out of NYC or up east some place.

They do rotate ships, just not to your satisfaction?

Aplmac,

We will be coming for a visit in 360 days. Can't wait to see your beautiful island.

Hope that there will be room for us. Looking to go to St. Lawrence Gap, is that a good place?

We will bring the beer!!!:D C.G.

St.Lawrence Gap is a nightclubby kinda area.

In the day there's nuthin happening!

If you're ashore for the day and need a combination of party and beach,

somewhere along the 2-mile stretch of Carlisle Bay might suit you better.

Think BOATYARD or HARBOUR LIGHTS, both of which are along Carlisle Bay

and not too far away from the ship -just across the other side of town!

YES! Please rotate!!! Time to swap Dream for Magic or Breeze or Sunshine PLEASE! 3+ years of the same ship is long enough!

OR Upgrade fairy Please swap the Sensation for any ship in the next (or higher) class! She's been stuck in PC for longer!

The Paradise took over for the Inspiration out of Tampa. It appears that the Miracle used to sail out of Tampa too and is now covered by the Legend. I love sailing from Tampa since the port is only 20 minutes away from me, but we are limited on ships due to the Sunshine Skyway bridge. At least it's not very far to drive to Port Canaveral. Fort Lauderdale and Miami are fairly close too. I'd even drive to New Orleans to sail. Anywhere else we would need to fly. I do like that they do seem to change the ships up around here. I wish it was annually though.

since I have to drive or fly to ALL ports ( stupid Illinois) doesn't much matter to me. I do think carnival should base a ship (perhaps the sunshine) here at navy pier in Chicago...lol

Completely agree. Although it might take some time for them to open up the casino.

I thought they did rotate them. I guess we are lucky in Galveston. In the last 6 years we have had two different combos. We had the Ecstacy and Conquest and now the Triumph and Magic.

Yes, Carnvial rotates ships.

Since 2006 on the West Coast we've had the Pride, Spirit, Splendor, Elation and Paradise. We now have the Inspiration and Miracle. Soon we will also have the Imagination.

In November we are sailing on the Conquest NOLA to SJU. She is then repositioning to Miami.

I agree that rotating ships around is something that Carnival does well compared to other lines. For example, in the past 5 years Southern California had Pride, Paradise, Spirit, Elation, Splendor, Inspiration, and Miracle sailing either out of Long Beach or San Diego and we will have Imagination coming next year.

Our son (who's graduating high school tomorrow) will be moving to SC in a couple of weeks, so I would LOVE it if they changed the Fantasy to something else. We've sailed on it twice and I'd rather sail on something a little larger and a different class.

Hey anybody wants to get rid of a fantasy class ship.... send her to Mobile, Alabama. We don't have a ship anymore and would be glad to get one back. Oh I guess we do have the Triumph but she isn't moving for a while and I doubt she will be sailing with cruise ship passengers out of Mobile.

Or you can send it to San Diego. We have been left without a ship as well.

I think we in the Tampa area lost the Legend to the Mediterranean for the summer months.

Now we're stuck with just the Paradise for the 4 day sailings for the summer months.

I think people who live in Florida are so spoiled with so many ports they can drive to, they dont appreciate what they got.

Texas only has one ship year round, with Triumph out of commision for months now.

NOLA is 10 hours both ways and the only other port I can drive to.

People in Florida have many ports they can drive to.

YES!!!! Every two or three years the ships should be switched and moved to different homeports. They could do that for two or three ships a year. Whenever the Panama Canal is finally widened more of the larger ships will be able to come through and change out ships from the West Coast.

First Post!!

Maybe the right way to put it is Carnival should rotate ships more often. And maybe bring some of the larger class ships into some of the ports.

We are in Southeast GA about an hour from Savannah, so Charleston and Jacksonville are easy drives and Port Canaveral isn't too bad. But my wife doesn't want to cruise the same ships or go to the same ports over and over again. Tampa wasn't quite as easy, but we're going long this year and heading for Miami.

We're hoping that the rumors are true that one of the cruise lines is going to bring a ship in once the Savannah harbor is deepened.
