coordinator23 Posted July 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2013 I would like to do a cruise that would go up the east coast of Australia and then over to New Zealand and return to Sydney via Perth and Hobart. It would be a combination of what is offered now. It would be great if choice air would offer a stop over in Fiji, Hawaii or somewhere else on the way there/back to break up the long flight. PhoenixDawgCruising Posted July 2, 2013 #11 Share Posted July 2, 2013 First off, it leaves from LOS ANGELES (already a dream), and it's either Oasis or Allure. 14 nights. That's It. Don't care where it goes, just not TA or Hawaii. Panama/Central/South America I guess. I just want to sail from LA on a nice ship, not so much to ask for really.:)
hellsop Posted July 2, 2013 #12 Share Posted July 2, 2013 Great Lakes/St Lawrence trip with end points in Boston and Chicago. Ports of call to include Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Detroit and one semi-wilderness for the wreck divers near Saulte Ste Marie. This would probably necessitate a smallish ship able to navigate the St Lawrence Lock System; the Empress would fit for this.

It would be a combination of what is offered now. It would be great if choice air would offer a stop over in Fiji, Hawaii or somewhere else on the way there/back to break up the long flight. You'll need about 30 nights to do that cruise! Maybe a little less but DEFINATELY more than 14 nights! That's is a B2B2B cruise! Actually you'd need to leave Sydney then head up the East Coast, over the top of Australia, down to Perth then across the bottom of Australia, around New Zealand then back to Sydney. Great trip so long as you have the spare time!

Don't care about the ship, CD, or captain Hawaii Sydney (2 nights) Melbourne (2 nights) Perth (overnight) Singapore (3 nights) Bangkok Of course, sea days between each stop. Rare BillOh Posted July 3, 2013 #24 Share Posted July 3, 2013 Ok, I'll play. I'm not going to try and work out the logistics completely, so if I have two ports in a row that can't be done, add a day in. Embarkation - Port Everglades - Same terminal as Oasis/Allure for the great service, ease to get in and out of. Ship - Freedom, Perhaps another in this class, but I've only experienced Freedom and I know it has the upgrades. (Not sure of the others) Oasis/Allure are great, but some of my stops are going to be tendered. Captain, - Don't care. I just want an extremely competent Captain to will get it all done safely. Cruise Director - Don't care, I know some are better, but for this cruise All the questions on Love and Marriage will be brand new as well as all the Quests. He will pick us as the middle couple (32 years married as of today) The prize for winning Love and Marriage will be a free cruise. First stop Coco Cay for scuba diving/ beach/wave runners. We will remain their all day and in the evening there will be a big stage with some first class performers that will have a concert like the Bud Light cruises. Dinner served on the island. Next Stop Nassau where the ship will have full access to the Atlantis resort I've totally ignored Atlantis because of the high prices and short stays all of my cruises to this point have had. Here is another fantasy part of the cruise. The next day will be a Sea day on the way to St Martin. Sometime that night the ship will come to a complete stop and kill all its lights. (Please don't reply with how that isn't possible for whatever reason, this is fantasy and we have found a way. We will be at least 200 miles from any land. Royal will have paid to ship my telescope from Ohio to the ship. (See below) It will be a new moon so there will be a milky way filled sky. I will be on the bow with my telescope and there will be a couple thousand people lined up to get their first ever glimpses of the wonders of the deep sky like the Orion Nebula, Saturn, Jupiter, and a long list. I have probably shown thousands of people these wonders for the first time. People will be so amazed I won't have to pay for any drinks the rest of the cruise. :) St Martin, I will scuba dive early in the morning and be dropped off at Orient beach. Around 3pm we will go to Maho where the participants in the Jumbo jet owners association will be practicing take offs and landings with their 747s, A380s, and special visits by Concords. The next two ports will be southern Caribbean islands that I haven't visited yet, so no details. On the way to Labadee we will have another Sea day and star party with my telescope. More people will want to buy me drinks and dinner in the Specialty restaurants. Labadee will be another beach day with all the attractions followed by another on stage concert by big name performers. You can watch from the beach or floating in the lagoon. Next Stop Grand Caymen followed by Belize, up to Key West and then back to Port Everglades. hellsop Posted July 3, 2013 #25 Share Posted July 3, 2013 Make both the starting and end points in Chicago, and I'd finally be an hours drive away from the port! This could only be done May - October. Definitely a summer-only thing. Round-tripping from Chicago would be a challenge to fit into the 14-day window though, unless it only went as far as Montreal and stayed completely laker. It's about a thousand nautical miles from Chicago to Toronto by water, and it's probably five or six days due to congestion in the locks. (The one laker cruise company I can find that serves Chicago offers Montreal to Chicago cruises in 12 days with daily port calls.)
