Question about Celebrity St Thomas excursion

We purchased the Celebrity excursion to St John for our 12/28/13 cruise and was wondering if the time listed on Celebrity's website corresponds to ship time or local time? If anyone knows it would be extremely helpful.

With Celebrity, unlike some other cruise lines, in 99% of the cases ship time and local time are the same. Very, very rarely has the ship stayed on the original time and not changed to shore time.

You picked a nice excursion :) You set your watch to Ship Time and ship time is generally Island time.

That's generally what I do too, but I'm trying to make rental reservations in St. John and Celebrity says the excursion leaves at 10 am and I'm not sure if that's 10 am in St. Thomas and St John or if it'll be 9 am there.

We have never stopped in a port where the ship time is different than the local time. When they do that, it almost guarantees that someone will miss the boat...

No, island time and ship time will be the same.

 

They will change the clocks on board to match the island time.

 

There will be an announcement to that effect in the Daily program.

 

Your waiter will probably remind you.

 

The television in your room will probably be set to a channel with that announcement when you come in from dinner.

 

Other cruise lines sometimes keep the ship on one time zone throughout their cruise. Celebrity does not.

No. Ship time is almost always local time . . . Look on your pillow for a note each night.

St. John USVI is in the eastern time zone, same as Florida. Given the date of your sailing, you are on the Reflection, Eclipse or Summit. Your entire cruise is in the same time zone. Clocks will not change. Island time is ship's time. All your port stops are in the same time zone: eastern.

Of course you are right. I read the time zone map incorrectly. As you say, USVI is on Florida time now, but will not be later in the year.
