sunsetbeachgal Posted August 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2013 She is a lovely ship...a great piazza area with International Cafe'. Loved the smaller dining rooms as there were more tables for two than in the larger venues. Alfredo's has great pizza!
dorisis Posted August 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2013 We usually cruise on smaller ships and take traditional dining but on our month long South Seas cruise on Sapphire we took any time dining and loved being able to choose between themed restaurants Four of themwith an ethnic speciality. The Piazza area was a nice place for pizza or a snack lunch at International cafe. and the adult area in the Lotus spa was or favotite spot to relax and read while at sea. skynight Posted August 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2013 Just looking for any tips or information about the Sapphire Princess Looking at doing a cruise in Jan 15.Haven't cruised on her before Assume you are speaking about the Jan 16th four night cruise RT LA. The ship will be nice for a 4 night getaway. The ship has a wide selection of free eating venues including the 1 large and 4 smaller MDR's, Alfredo's Pizza, International Cafe, Prego Pizza (pizza by the slice), Trident Grill, Sundaes soft ice cream, and the Horizon Ct. There are four pools, one indoors and 3 outdoors. The Terrace Pool and the Lotus Pool are adults only. There are 8 hot tubs, 2 each by the Lotus pool, Neptune's Reef pool and Calypso Reef pool, plus 2 aft on deck 16. There is also a splash pool for young children. In the evening there will be lots of live entertainment from production shows in the theater, to live bands, and piano player/singers in the various lounges including The Wheelhouse Bar, Explorer's Lounge, Club Fusion, and Crooner's. Skywalker's Nightclub will open late and has a DJ. There is also a large casino more than willing to accept your money. There will be lots to do o a 4 night cruise. dfields1814 Posted August 11, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2013 Because there are 4 smaller anytime restaurants the more popular ones may fill up quickly. So if you don't want to stand in line you can make reservations. Each time I have been on the Sapphire the procedure when you can make the reservation and at what times reservations can be made for differ. Last time it was you could reserve for anytime up to one day in advance and only earlier than 6:00 or later than 8:00 or so. We never had to wait for a table after say 8:00 without a reservation. There are three anytime dining rooms. Then around 7:30 or so they up a fourth. All the dining rooms serve the same menu but each has a speciality dish that goes with the theme of restaurant. Last time we were on the Sapphire was about 2 years ago so this may be different now.,
lovevacadays Posted August 11, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2013 Having been on the Star, Grand, Golden, Caribbean, Ruby, Emerald, Coral, and Sapphire I would without doubt say the Sapphire was my favorite. She is my favorite as well!:) Just looking for any tips or information about the Sapphire Princess Looking at doing a cruise in Jan 15.Haven't cruised on her before The Sapphire is my favorite Princess ship. I'm so sad she will be leaving the West Coast. Tips: She has a wide promenade outside deck with full loungers. A great place to grab a coffee from the coffee bar on Deck 5 or a martini from Crooner's on deck 7 and then go outside and sit in one of the full loungers and look at the ocean. To me, it makes me feel like I am on an ocean liner from years gone by. She has an aft adult's only pool. Also, in that area there are tables right outside the very back doors of the buffet area. A great place to take a meal from the buffet and sit. There are also stools all along that deck where you can sit and watch the wake. One of my favorite places to be on the Sapphire. She also has an enclosed pool area just outside the buffet area (not aft). There are padded loungers there and it is a great place to get away from the MUTS (Movies Under the Stars) that plays at the main pool. The Disco on deck 18 is a great place to go during the day for some quiet time. If you like to read or if you just want to chill there is typically very few people there during the day. You will get an amazing view of the wake and the horizon. In the Piazza area is the International Café, Alfredo's Pizza, and Vines Wine Bar - all excellent venues. Sorry for the run on paragraph and sentences. I'm tired this evening. Hopefully, one of the grammar and spelling ****'s won't come on and point out to me what I already now. If you book the Sapphire, I hope you enjoy her as much as I have.:):):)
loliola Posted August 12, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 12, 2013 Unfortunately we can't book her as she is going to Asia. So much for everyone's favorite ship....
BRANDEE Posted August 12, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 12, 2013 Loved the ship. Took her to Alaska. Baja deck has some over sized balconies midship that are worth the extra depending on where you are cruising.
dcruisers Posted August 12, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 12, 2013 Sailed Sapphire to Hi this January(14 days). Great ship, crew and food! The service was excellent. Baja deck has some over sized balconies midship that are worth the extra depending on where you are cruising. Hi. I hate to sound like a broken record....:D but...we are sailing on the Sapphire in October. Caribe balcony. So' date=' my question is...what furniture is on a Caribe (regular balcony cabin) balcony. ie, two chairs/loungers, one (small or large?) table, two footstools? (I remember two lounges and two chairs, one large table, and no footstools on previous cruises) And, if you remember...approximate width of the balcony chairs? We are contemplating bringing along extra pads to hopefully make the chairs more comfortable for our 28 day cruise. Thank you !!! :)[/color']
BRANDEE Posted August 12, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 12, 2013 The furniture is just as you said..2 regular chairs, 2 lounges that had no foot rest and round table for two to eat. I would say the balcony chairs were the normal 18 inches wide. I actually used pillows from the room on the lounges. I was in room C317. Have a great time! Now, I'd like to verify/clarify your response...(if you don't mind) You actually had TWO lounges and TWO chairs? WOW !! That sounds like the "old" furniture that we had when we previously sailed on Sapphire, and not the new, uncomfortable furniture? ...we should be so lucky.....:D Hoorah! BRANDEE Posted August 13, 2013 #19 Share Posted August 13, 2013 Hi..I sailed the Sapphire two years ago, last year the Golden had the exact furniture on the Caribe deck and last month, the Royal had the same chairs (blue mesh) on our deck. The larger decks on Royal had two lounges with foot rests and one table. Have had the same furniture the past five+ years. Haven't seen or heard about the "new" furniture! The larger decks on Royal had two lounges with foot rests and one table. Have had the same furniture the past five+ years. Haven't seen or heard about the "new" furniture! Hi. Thanks for responding. When we sailed on the Sapphire in Spring 2011, the "old" furniture was still on Caribe. When we sailed on the Star in Spring 2012 we "experienced" the new furniture on Caribe and understood that this furniture would be placed on all of the ships. That is why I was asking the question about the furniture. We felt the new furniture was inferior to the original. They looked somewhat the same, however the old furniture was more substantial, and there was more of it, as you know. I hope we will be pleasantly surprised...:) and again, Thanks! Tricia P.S. If someone has more current information, I'd appreciate an update.

DrivesLikeMario Posted September 4, 2013 #23 Share Posted September 4, 2013 I've never seen loungers on the Caribe Deck reg. balcony cabins. Not sure if this is something really new. What we've always had are 4 chairs and they can recline (just the back portion), a table and 2 footstools. The Caribe Deck is our favorite too.
