Hello everyone. . . I can’t remember when the day was so beautiful. The skies are bright with blue seas and a light breeze. The weather is so perfect that I might feel little sad when the showers arrive tomorrow as Grandeur of the Seas approaches the pier slowly in Bermuda. . . Well the forecast could be off, and I will just hope for the best.

Dancing, music, lectures, and demonstrations were what this 1st sea day was all about. The pool decks and Solarium had tons of passengers and when I went inside, the Centrum, Casino Royale, and Shops were crowded as well.

I might have been able to watch a little news this afternoon, so maybe I can enjoy the Show tonight, and maybe have more fun in Casino Royale. I was able to speak with the Diamond Lounge Mgr (Efron) and he suggested that all of the furnishing had to be replaced in the Diamond Lounge on Deck 6 due to the heavy water damage that happened during the fire. The Lounge is stunning and appears to be much larger than the Concierge Lounge on Deck 11. I just wish that the walls were much higher as you can hear anything that might be going on in the South Pacific Lounge (just outside).

I walked back to the Promenade Deck AFT as the view was wonderful. You can still see where some of the damage was from the fire . . .There was some painting going on, and fresh welds were being primed and treated. Over 20 New Viking Inflatable Life rafts (Barrels) were there due to the destruction caused by the fire. Some of the decks were treated and all surfaces have fresh paint.

I received a nice discount card at Café Latte-tudes (Deck 6 Centrum) that will allow a Free Starbucks Coffee after I purchase only 6 cups. . .No Problemo. The Seattle's Best coffee has been very good up in the Park Café and Windjammer as well. . .

Here are a few pics from this afternoon. . .

Thanks for all of the nice comments.

Thank you,

This is good to know. I will have to try doing a cruise out of Baltimore, sound better than Cape Liberty as far as the port goes.

We like sailing out of Cape Liberty because it is so close to home.

The only thing is the port, just hate it. (Got too spoiled by the Florida ports)

I heard that with Quantum Of The Seas coming out next year they will be redoing the port in Cape Liberty. Just wishing that they will go all out and do the same thing they did in Ft. Lauredale with Oasis and Allure,

a brand new dock, this would be so nice. ( Just wishing right??)

We prefer Baltimore over any other port. It is about 100 miles from us, and Philadelphia and Norfolk are about 200 miles so still within a morning's drive. But unfortunately those are not viable options anymore and also unfortunately we've done most of the major line cruise itineraries that are offered from Baltimore many times. My husband will cruise to Bermuda as many times as I ask him to, but he doesn't want to go to Nassau anymore and he's not interested in Jamaica or New England.

Thanks Radio for the updates. Two quick questions... Can you confirm that the specialty beers (pub offerings) like Leffe, Chimay, Redhook, etc are NOT offered onboard?

Second question is a silly one, but one that caused my wife and I (and many others) to lose money willingly in the casino - Do you see any Super Jackpot Party machines? They are video and have "party" animation.

Thanks

Question please Radio. I love my coffee, as I see you do, but I do NOT like Starbucks (I know sacrilege). Has all coffee on board switched over to Starbucks?

No worries. SteveK51. . . Seattle's Best is also very good. You should be satisfied.

Can you also tell me whether they have cranberry juice - I do not drink coffee or soft drinks or beer, but I do like a glass of cranberry juice at dinner. I've been on ships where they would charge me $4.75 for a little glass with ice in it from the bar and told me that I should bring my own from home if that's what I wanted to drink. I can do that if I must but I'd rather not.

Thanks for the great pics!

If you like the aft view perhaps you could try an aft balcony next time. It is a long walk to get to your room but once we tried a corner aft JS on Grandeur we never went back to a side balcony. Well worth the walk, at least for me. And I don't feel quite so guilty if I eat a second dessert-HA.

Checking in to tag along ... still 15 weeks away from my encore cruise on the Grandeur. We were on the last Panama sailing last year and the 3-day repo to Miami. We're eager to check out the ship since the refurb. Love the room pix. Those nice airy curtains look like a big improvement from the old heavy draperies.

OK ... here comes the REALLY important question. Are the couches and bedding runners green in the JS cabins too? (You know you're going to walk by them on deck 8 at some point and peek in the open doors.) Inquiring minds who are trying to determine how to decorate for Christmas need this vital data.

Yes on deck 7 aft us. Old green.

Thank you "Radio" for all these terrific reviews. We'll be sailing the wonderful Grandeur next week on the way up the Northeast coast. Hopefully, we'll have beautiful weather. The Grandeur looks terrific. We love the smaller ships. This will be our first time in an inside cabin. We usually do the balcony cabins, but decided to go "cheap" this time around since it'll be our second New England tour. Looking forward to your future posts! Have a fun time!!
