"LIVE" (hopefully?) from Allure of the Seas, November 10th, 2013

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the almost daily sunrise photos. It's always my goal to wake up at least once to watch them but it never seems to happen. Unfortunately a sunrise photo most likely will not happen in my live report.

People who miss sunrises miss one of the neatest things about cruising.

When I routinely get up for them on our cruises (as my wife sleeps in)...I'm often met by groups of people awaiting them on the upper decks...all with cameras ready. Many sunrises are spectacular experiences.

Then again...not everyone is a morning early bird.

Early morning is one of my favorite times on the ships. It is so peaceful. Whether it is for the sunrise or watching the approach to a port of call it provides me with a feeling that is hard to describe. And you seem to run into the same people day after day. It becomes a fun group to have a quick chat with as everyone waits for the perfect colors to appear in the sky! If I slept in I would feel very disappointed about missing that time.

Wow, is it just me or does the guy with the flabby abs (sorry, like that narrows it down...the tallest one) look pretty pissed about not winning?! Seems to be taking exception with the crew member, who looks like he's trying to tell him to calm the **** down, LOL! Drama, baby! (and cue ball there doesn't too happy either)

I think they got rid of the rule, if one does so does all just recently with the new packages just announced.

Smeck, you're correct. I had posted my response in the morning, then came to find out later in that same day that they were changing the specifics of the drink packages effective this month. You can now buy just one package even if there are two or more adults in the cabin.

Woke up at 430 am today...sheesh, for the love of God, why can't I sleep in!!!!!! I guess I'm afraid of missing something. I'm so glad I woke up when I did, because I got to see this....

Yup, that'd be totally worth losing three hours of sleep.

Almost ready to wrap this up, everyone!!! many more photos to upload as well as some final thoughts and comments from day 7--but for now we sit on the plane, hoping to get back to Chicago--there is apparently a ground stoppage due to weather....

Yes, Tornados in Pekin, one still on the ground for the last hour by Streator.

Radar showing lots of orange and red. Clearing out by 3. . Most of the TV stations have the weather people on. Bears game just kicked off.

Sadly, I am no longer "live" from the Allure of the Seas, but thankfully, I'll be able hop over to the other live reviews running this week.

Day 7 was spent poolside, more packing, and several trips to the promenade to check out the sales!

More promenade photos...

DD took the cupcake decorating class with her friends. I had originally booked the youth class, but thankfully I stopped by the cupcake cupboard early in the week to confirm the reservation I had pre booked online, and noticed the youth class was for children under 12. I was able to move them to the adult class at a later time.

The creation.....a puppy....

On the final day, there was a designer watch sale, handbag sale, and $10 tee shirt sale. I would recommend coming early and fighting the crowds if you really want the best selection.

Off the promenade is a staircase leading down to the Casino Royale....

There is a smoking and non-smoking side to the casino, however it was blatantly obvious to me which side was which, unless you looked for the ashtrays. Sorry to have to report this ( for you non-smokers), but I found it to be a pretty "smoky" venue. This could have been a result of the recent changes on this cruise that limited the indoor smoking venues to the casino and a portion of Blaze. Also, while docked in St. Maarten, the smoking areas on all the outer public decks were closed all day (ashtrays either removed or covered) because the ship was refueling.
