Excuse my non drinker ignorance. What would be some non alcoholic cocktails that would be interesting to try, not frozen ones?

 

They usually have cutesy names and are listed on the drink menu, usually it'll include some form of fruit juice, possibly pieces of muddled fruit and ginger ale/sprite/club soda to make it bubbly. My son loved one on Princess that had mango juice, strawberry pieces and sprite.

 

Also if you see an alcoholic drink on the menu with different juices/flaors, they can usually make it without the alcohol.

 

I personally like virgin mojitos

Hmmm. Is there still going to be a fountain soda only package? The $20/day is waaaaay out of line for what I'd drink as I don't drink coffee or tea. Now, if they'd include hot chocolate from the specialty coffee shop, we might be able to talk. ;)

 

Agreed. It's about twice what it should be for soda/coffee only, and even worse for soda only....

I am just wondering about the coffee and teas. Do you think that this new package would include items like chai tea or cappuccino?

It looks like the Replenish and Ultimate packages would include the specialty coffees and teas.

Thanks for the drink ideas! :-)

I was originally on the $7 drink package bandwagon but we never get drinks when eating out (adds about $10-$12 for our family of five!). So I'm thinking that planning ahead and being able to just drink whatever whenever will be very luxurious and add to the spoiled feeling we will get on the trip!

They are not really close?? Is one more updated than the other?? Any recent cruiser can tell us which is more accurate??? I know one is an actual RCCL Bar menu, but no idea how old it is.

We will be purchasing the Premium drink package for our Mariner of the Seas cruise out of Singapore in January. We will have a few days where we will stay on the ship. So I was wondering whether that if we both are on a package we could order the souvenir beach cooler with 5 beers at one time. I understand that you can normally only order one drink per sea pass at any one time. I'm just thinking ahead for those hot humid days, sunning on the deck through the Straits of Malacca. Pure indulgence. I know it's lazy and we could just as easy get up and order another drink ourselves, but hey we're on holidays!

The consensus among those who have tried seems to be that you cannot. You could hoard some beers and get a soft-sided cooler with ice.;)

If you did want to order a mixed drink that costs more than the allotted $10, do they charge you the full price or do you only pay the difference?

 

Did you mean a mixed drink as in a cocktail or a mixed drink as in a vodka and orange, whiskey and coke, gin and tonic etc if the latter then it's just the price of the alcohol component that is a factor the mixer is 'free'.

Thanks for the answers to questions this far. Let me confirm I have the info on the new drink packages straight. The new package inclusions have taken effect fleet-wide starting on 11/15 although they aren't going to appear on the US website until 12/1, correct? We'll be on the Allure next week. If bottled water is included with the premium package for us then I'll do it. If not, I won't. I believe according to the info here it will be. Just want to be sure....and I'm getting that calling the call center might not get me correct answers either. Is it bad that I trust the consensus here over the call center? Maybe if I call them 10 times, talk to 10 people, and go with the higher percentage answer. LOL!

So, another thread was talking about how this last sailing of Grandeur had a daily happy hour with most mixed drinks at half price.

 

Why on earth would they start something like that at a time when they're trying to push the alcohol packages? It seems counter-intuitive.

Why on earth would they start something like that at a time when they're trying to push the alcohol packages? It seems counter-intuitive.

 

I can confirm that, I'm just off grandeur today and made good use of the happy hours on board. The Viking Crown Lounge had buy 1 get 1 free martini's from 7pm-9pm!

 

Also the other bars had 50% off deals earlier in the evening. I have the cruise compasses if needed.

The new unnlimited beverage packages will be available for guests purchase starting today, November 15th on all ships, and pre-purchase online the first week of December at http://www.royalcaribbean.com/beforeyouboard/cruiseEnhancements.do or by calling our pre-cruise planning specialists at 1-800-398-9819. Once available online, you can purchase them approximately 2 months before sail date.

All package prices include the 15% gratuity. Also the the basic soda package and water package stay intact.

Guests who have already bought a ‘Classic’ package prior to the changes in November/December 2013, will receive the new Select package once on board and a refund to their onboard account for the $5 per day difference in pricing.

Guests who have already bought a ‘Premium’ package prior to the changes in November/December 2013, will receive the new Premium package once on board. If they wish to upgrade to the new Ultimate package, this can be done at a cost added to their onboard account of the $10 per day difference in pricing.

1) Depends on the ship. Some ships have Starbucks, some have a venue called Latitudes, some right next to Cafe Promenade. You can also get specialty coffee in the MDR. Specialty coffee would be things like expresso, cappuccino, latte, etc.

 

2) My understanding is that the "all in cabin" restriction no longer applies to any package.

Can't help you on #1, I don't know what they consider premium coffee and what's not

 

But yes to #2, no more restriction to saying that all guests in a cabin must buy a package if 1 does. Now says that any eligible guest may buy any package

What's the difference between "bottled water" and "still water"?

Still water, is just regular bottled water. The other would be sparkling water.

 

I think the list should read like this

 

Bottled Water:

--> Sparkling Water (375 ml)

--> Still Water (500 ml)
