Allure of the seas tips

Recommended Posts

Hello......we just got off the Allure of the Seas Yesterday and I have a few tips to share with everyone.

Positives:

-the shows were fantastic do not miss any of them: Chicago-Blue Planet-OceanAria-Ice Games-and the Stand Up Comedy Show-also the belly flop competition was hilarous

-Wait to buy anything on ship until the last few days.....they reduce the shops to 50% or more

-Deck 7 is a perfect deck to stay on BEWARE that the balconies on the PORT side do allow smoking even though the ship claims they do not.

-Service in the Main Dining Room was fantastic. For breakfast tell them you want alacarta and then you can also use the buffet. (this was a staff member tip)

Negatives:

-Chops is NOT WORTH THE MONEY. Steaks were so-so. My initial steak was cold and others in our group of 12 either had too rare or too well done steaks. Service was terrible. A complete waste of $30pp

-The pork chops served in the main dining room were horrible. Luckily we were able to order something else

-Ladies....bring your own toilet paper. RC uses 1 ply very course tp. The same goes for the wash clothes

-A sweater may be necessary to bring to some of the shows.

-The casino was VERY SMOKEY even though they have a non smoking side it is still one big room. NO ONE in our group of 12 won any money at all.

Please contact me if you have any other questions.

-Ladies....bring your own toilet paper. RC uses 1 ply very course tp. Royal, along with other cruiselines, Boaters and RVers, use marine Grade TP. Yes it is 1 ply, but it also dissolves in water, your regular TP does not and can block the pipes onboard. The same goes for the wash clothes

-A sweater may be necessary to bring to some of the shows.

-The casino was VERY SMOKEY even though they have a non smoking side it is still one big room. NO ONE in our group of 12 won any money at all.

Smoking is allowed on all oceanview facing balconies. Smoking is not allowed on balconies that face Central Park and the Boardwalk. This will change next year to no smoking on any balcony.

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. Here are my thoughts about your thoughts. ;)

Smoking is allowed on ALL oceanview balconies. Please explain what you mean by "the ship claims that they do not."

The reductions are fake, but feel free to buy whatever whenever.

Do NOT use any toilet paper except for what is on board. You will BLOCK the sewage pipes. If one ply seems thin to you, USE MORE SQUARES.

I find the Allure and Oasis warm.

Some smoke drifts into the non-smoking side, but it is WAAAY better than regular casinos that have no smoking restrictions.

Isn't she a fabulous ship, though?!?!? :)

Some of your other comments have already been addressed so I won't repeat them, but your above comment is not true, sorry. Anything merchandise you see which is "on sale" is new stuff specifically for what is usually the last sea day and people are bored and shopping. ;) They do not reduce the merchandise which has been out all week. Can you imagine the uproar if someone bought an $800.00 ring on the first day and it was reduced at the end of the week? Imagine hundred, even thousands of passengers complaining about that? It would be madness.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise for the most part. :)

I am going on another RCI cruise - and I do NOT want to have to deal with second hand smoke. I found this policy on the RCI site

Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom and any stateroom balcony. This applies to all stateroom categories onboard. If a guest is in violation of this stateroom policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to their SeaPass® account and may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy.

It sounds like "stateroom balcony" is a no-smoke zone.

The policy you quote starts Jan 1, 2014. Royal's website has been updated with the new policy in advance of the effective date..

There is a breakfast buffet, as well as the ability to order off the menu, and you can do a combination of both. Had two breakfasts in the MDR last week. Enjoyed items from the buffet, and ordered from the menu as well!

Yes, it was quite the 13 hour journey, but we made it back. I'm sure you are counting the days until your cruise, and all I can say is the Allure won't disappoint!!

Thanks for sharing those interesting observations, I was one your fellow passengers. Don't gamble but agree the Casino was smokier than a Shanghai bar. I feel sorry for the dealers. As far as toilet paper, my opinion is any toilet paper is excellent after being stranded in a Nassau restroom sans paper. Luckily I had a couple of five dollar bills in my wallet.

Yes it was, and not meaning to high jack the thread and get off topic, but we are in the western suburbs, Hoffman estates area, and had some major back yard clean up to do following the storms yesterday!

Do NOT put anything into the toilets except what your body produces or the ship provides!

Do NOT flush tampons, diapers, tissues or wet wipes! That is why there are so many "smelly" problems on ships!

Use the provided toilet paper...double up, if needed, but don't bring your Charmin!

We also got off the Allure yesterday and had a fabulous time. We've cruised on the Oasis twice and loved both trips. My son and his wife, who have never cruised, fell in love with the ship and are already planning their next trip.

Unlike RadioBroadcaster we enjoyed dinner at Chops Grille, everyone's steaks came out perfect. We have had dinner at Chops on each of the cruises and have never had a problem.

I also commented to my husband that I was surprised at the lack of smoke in the casino, as my eyes tear up terribly when I'm around it. I'm not saying that there wasn't any smoke but after spending a week in Vegas recently I felt that the Allure casino was quite bearable. My husband and I were in the casino every night and actually did very well this trip. We play craps, roulette and slots.

The service was exemplary everywhere on the ship, and as RadioBroadcaster mentioned the entertainment was fabulous. I know this sounds crazy and picky but I prefer the artwork on the Oasis over the Allure art but both ships are an amazing destination themselves.

The only complaint I had was that the few times we visited the concierge lounge the concierge attendants were no where to be found.

I'm glad you had a good time Radio, it's hard not to on that ship!

The Concierges do not work 24 hours a day. They have posted hours. I have never visited the CL on Oasis or Allure and not found at least one of the Concierges there during those hours.

(they are usually there roughly 8 to 11 a.m. and 5 to 8:30 p.m.)

The current policy allows smoking only on oceaview balconies. The policy you are quoting is the future policy for next year. With any luck your next cruise will be sometime next year and you will hopefully have no issues with second hand smoke.

Very true about the concierge times Merion, that's why I was disappointed that neither were there when I stopped by. We actually only saw one of the concierges during one of our lounge visits.

It was my husband's birthday and I was hoping they could help me arrange something but gratefully our stateroom attendants told me what I needed to do. They even decorated the downstairs area of the loft (they strung up Valentine hearts and cupids, a birthday decoration on the table and a birthday banner on the door), quite a wonderful surprise for us both! Service above and beyond.
