Drinks packages on royal carribean
Our experience with the Old beer wine package last week was largely positive - great service ( except at the casino where they sucked for everyone equally).

For us it was a good deal for sea days ( and we ended up with 4) but we also had drinks included in our shore excursions - so it ended up being a losing proposition on those days. It was nice to have wine with dinner every night and that made it a winner overall.
I think the trick is not to leave the ship. The money you save on excursions would probably pay for the drink package. ;)

Can someone give me an idea about what to order for non-alcoholic drinks? I only drink water and coke but I was thinking it would be fun to get the Royal Replenish package.

Virgin Mary. Virgin Pina Colada.

The Pineapple Blast is an official RCI drink that consists of pineapple juice mixed with regular or sugar free Red Bull. If you're not a Red Bull fan, pineapple juice mixed with Sprite Zero is quite good.

The Pineapple with Sprite/Sprite Zero sounds really good. I am going to have to try that at home. Thanks.

Question: Are you required to purchase the packages for all days on the cruise or can you just purchase it for some days, such as sea says?

The package must be purchased for the entire cruise length.

Not quite. You're correct in that you cannot pick and choose days. However, you can purchase for all remaining days of a cruise, as long as there are 4 or more days remaining.

Thinking about getting the 55.00 package just so I can try a lot of different drinks

We had a stop in labadee so that might make the package worth it

But it's a lot of money to drop on it so still not sold on it

Thanks for the info. Another question: The ship stops at CacoCay, Can you get drinks there as part of your package?

Pretty much they pay attention to the customers. The servers/bartenders check your cards. Also they won't usually bring you a second drink while you are still drinking one & really stick to the not getting getting a drink prior to the time limit.

When we were on our cruise my dh had the premium alc package & I had the non-alc package. They'd check our cards when we ordered drinks. It was funny because I'd order a drink & they'd start telling me I'd have to pay & I'd say I know, it's fine. If you frequent the same places, after a few days they stop asking for your cards & will sometimes bring you the 2nd drink a little early. The only time we ever had the slightest issue was dh ordered a breakfast drink (some kind of smoothie with alcohol) and it came while he was in the buffet line, they weren't real excited to be leaving it with me & I felt like they watched me until he came to the table with his food.

Like I said the main thing is they do really pay attention to the people and the cards. The only thing that was never an issue was getting a bottle of water the same time you got a drink which I've read seems to be an issue on some RCCL ships with the new package.

We had pretty much the exact same experience on Celebrity. I had an alcohol package, the two teens had soda ones, and husband didn't have anything (he had just had a surgery that limited what he could eat and drink). They really watched that we were not sharing with my husband. I ordered a bottle of water with one of my drinks and didn't end up drinking half of it. My husband took it from the table and they politely said something to us about not sharing. It was sort of ridiculous but we laughed about it.

I would have been furious, frankly. Even if it's against the rules technically and they were polite about it, they seriously have nothing better todo than look at who's sipping your water?

It was so ridiculous it was funny. I said something like "Are you serious? It's just going to get thrown away." and the server said something to the effect that it technically wasn't allowed. I just took it from him and said "thanks for holding that for me honey" and we laughed about it the rest of the cruise. It was a polite exchange but one of those conversations you walk away from shaking your head.

Yes, shots are included, but not the souvenir glasses.

On the Mariner in April...four of our group of six had the Premium Drink Package.... every night we all ordered the after dinner dinks...every night we got the souvenier shot glasses & even the last night, our bar waitress brought us empty shot glasses in all the colors we were missing so we all had a complete set.... :D

Another waitress in the casino, was more than happy to bring us multiple drinks at the same time.... or at least before we were completely finished with our first drinks. Was never a problem.
