Live from Century Hawaii

The Century is a beautiful ship. Great service , great food but an unkind casino (I keep begging the slots to give me some respect). We are also fortunate to have great weather. If any of you out there have any doubts about this ship, don't. All I can really say is FANTASTIC !!!!!!!

The food. Everyday I walk through the buffet and see plates piled high with food. With my nose in the air I think "how can these people eat all that food, they probably waste most of it" and then 5 minutes later my own plate is piled higher than theirs. It can't be helped. The selection is fabulous. I have to say, of all of my cruises this is the best food yet and it is consistently good. So all you foodies out there, this is the ship for you.

The stateroom We have a midship cabin right smack outside the elevators. No noise whatsoever and easy access to the buffet and pool area. The balcony is an ok size and the cabin is smaller than we like but still good enough. The bed is very comfortable. If I book her again I'd like to be aft. Nice size balconies and a great view back there. Great cabin service. Great service all over the ship.

How's the food in the MDR? Will you be posting copies?

The food is very good. Only had one thing that wasn't great , a dessert that was dry, but other than that its been over eaters specials (me) every night. Great staff in the MDR. I don't know how to post copies.

Public areas. The interior of this ship is in very good condition. I don't see any worn carpets but I do see some furniture that looks to be from the 50's. (in the martini bar). The ship is so clean and there is always someone polishing something. Some of the exterior areas look like they could use some paint (our balcony for instance) but I don't see anything in disrepair. We love the rendezvous lounge. It is our hang out before dinner and an ok band playing every night. Lots of dancing going on. We haven't stayed up late enough to check out the disco yet because the late seating dinner always puts us to sleep shortly after. Love the Cova Cafe and the burgers by the pool. All of the staff are upbeat and treat you like they really care. It's such a nice touch. I am writing from my iPhone so bear with me as I can't seperate the paragraphs and can't type fast so I'm doing this in sections.

It is so good to hear that everything is great (service, good, ship). We are sailing in Sept 2014 to Alaska. This was the first ship I sailed on back in 1996, it was so special and was excited about the roundtrip to Alaska as we are so close to San Francisco. I can hardly wait...I am too excited. Only 264 days left, hahahaha! My boyfriend took a great picture of the Century when she was in port this year and we can see the cabin we will be in in the picture as well. I look at it often. Love reading all your posts. Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for your reports about the Century. We are getting on in 8 days! Can't wait to see our son, Jordan Peterson, again. He is the piano player/singer on the ship. If you see him, tell him Hi from Mom and Dad!

What! i only have 8 days left. I will find your son and tell him You said hi. I would love to be joining this ship for the Panama Canal. One of my favorite itineraries.

Thanks so much for posting. We will be on Century for 15 days in January for our first Celebrity cruise. Glad to hear you are enjoying the ship. I've heard many good things about her and we are really looking forward to experiencing it ourselves.

Your first Celebrity cruise! Watch out! It is very addicting and fattening.

One thing I would like to tell future Century (and fleet wide) cruisers is there is a happy hour between 4 - 6 pm in the rendezvous lounge and crystal room. There is no mention of this on the ship and I just found out yesterday. On other ships they may be in different locations so you have to ask and ask more than 1 person. They keep it a secret for some reason. Draft beers are $3 and wine $5.

Hi, I met Jordan on Summit and enjoyed his music very much:)

Do you know if he will be on Century in February too?

Yesterday was a long port day in lahaina so I didn't get a chane to go to michaels club but will try to get there tonight to talk to Jordan. I also was only able to talk to one person about the dry dock/ sale of Century. He told me that in February the century is going into a "technical" dry dock' meaning it will be lifted out of the water and bottom painted. There be a little more painting of some exterior areas but not much of an interior upgrade. Then I asked if the ship had benn sold and be said "where did you hear that?' I said I heard it from someone on the ship. He didnt deny nor confirm this but said she would be doing her scheduled sailings. I asked a bartender and he said they don't tell the staff anything. I will ask around more today and see what other stories I can come up with. Today is our last port day so I will not have Internet after tonight until I get back to San Diego in 6 days. I'll do my best to report back tonight.
