Ragdollbd Posted January 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Just wondering what the taxi charges from Ft. Lauderdale Airport to Port Everglades. Is it cheaper to use the Carnival service or taxi? Thanks in advance for your help Edited January 23, 2014 by Ragdollbd
Capt_BJ Posted January 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2014 http://www.broward.org/Airport/Transportation/Pages/ToPortEverglades.aspx There are three transportation options: shared ride, luxury sedan, and taxi cab. 1. Shared Ride - Shared "van" rides offered through GO Airport Shuttle cost $11 per person to Port Everglades. A van will hold a maximum of ten passengers. 2. Luxury Sedan - GO Airport Shuttle also offer exclusive car rides to Port Everglades for $40 (for up to four people). Contact - For more information, visit GO Airport Shuttle or call 800-244-8252/ 954-561-8888. 3. Taxi Cab - Taxi cabs charge $17 (estimated) based on the meter reading. Cabs accept up to five people for the fare stated on the taxi’s meter. They accept cash or credit cards.
Bonnie J. Posted January 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 23, 2014 If you want the ship's shuttle you have to wait until the whole bus is full. If you're near the last on then the wait isn't long but if you're one of the 1st there may be a wait. The airport is not far from the port. We now drive but think it was $18 last time we did it. Give us a taxi any day! Can anyone tell the OP what the cost is now?
LA_CA_GAL Posted January 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2014 No brainer. Take the taxi. Cheaper and quicker.
sail7seas Posted January 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 23, 2014 All the times we've gone by taxi, it costs about $13 plus tip.
kitty9 Posted January 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 23, 2014 All the times we've gone by taxi, it costs about $13 plus tip. This has been our experience also. The ONLY time it might be more is if you're backed up at the security checkpoint when arriving in the port area. Once, we were backed up so long, because of so many semis and some kind of security issue with one of the trucks, that our charge was over $40. But that kind of back up rarely happens. Langley Cruisers Posted January 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 23, 2014 The couple of times we have made the trip between the two points, it was $11.30 and $12.50 on the meter, plus we tipped. Very reasonable. DO NOT let anyone tell you there is a flat rate! There isn't. It should always be metered between Port Everglades and FLL (other cities like Tampa do have flat rates). bonsai3s Posted January 23, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 23, 2014 ...taxi is the best way to go. Convenient and inexpensive. ($12-$15 plus tip) Simply walk outside and you'll see a line of taxis waiting. If you are lucky, perhaps you'll find someone to share the cab with you...and the cost will even be cheaper...it'll be cut in half. Just remember that Port Everglades is close...you can see it from the airport. Most cab drivers are honest, and know exactly where to go. (They see thousands of cruise passengers every week.) But there is always that one driver that will intentionally: take the wrong freeway exit, take the wrong entrance, take the longest line to the ship, or worse go around the port once pretending to look for your ship. :) Happy Sailing. zoncom Posted January 23, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 23, 2014 You can see the sea port from airport. Take cab rather than waiting for big cruise bus to fill.

obnurse Posted January 24, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 24, 2014 If you decide on a regular taxi, make sure there is enough room for all of your luggage. Cruisers aren't generally known to be light packers. ENJOY!
