5Hawkeyes Posted January 30, 2014 #26 Share Posted January 30, 2014 (edited) Waking up that first morning and enjoying my room service coffee on the balcony. Just knowing my first full sea day is ahead. I love getting on the ship and all those first moments, but that first cup of coffee on the wide blue ocean is just the best!!! bingomamma19 Posted January 30, 2014 #27 Share Posted January 30, 2014 The way the water relaxes me like nothing else. I can spend hours just staring out there. I agree, the water is mesmerizing and so calming. I sit out on the balcony and relax (and usually fall asleep to it)
samzgirl84 Posted January 30, 2014 #28 Share Posted January 30, 2014 The meatloaf!!!! JK! DH and I are onboard the Dream in 2 days!!!!!!!!! Reading all of these post are making me more excited (if that is possible). My favorites are: ***walking up the gangplank (I always feel like singing "Happy days are here again") ***getting in the hot tub in the sunshine ***1st dinner in the MDR ***getting up in the middle of the night and walking around the ship and looking at the stars ***getting up early and watching the sunrise and seeing the port as we are sailing in
cynt Posted January 30, 2014 #29 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Walking the zig zag gangway and getting closer and closer to the entrance of the ship. I hop, skip and jump walking along the zig zag gangway. Just when I think it's the last zag I turn another corner to find yet another zig! LOL!! I love it when the anticipation builds and I finally reach the entrance. I just want to run and scream all over the promenade deck. LOL!! Yelling I'M HOME! I'M HOME!! LOL!! 24 MORE DAYS!! 24 MORE DAYS!!!
jdjr74 Posted January 30, 2014 #30 Share Posted January 30, 2014 The feeling of being away from EVERYTHING, no phone, no Internet. hihosilvers Posted January 30, 2014 #32 Share Posted January 30, 2014 I love crossing the gangway for the first time and stepping across the threshold. Love that feeling that we will be away from the "real world" from that point forward. This is my favorite too!
wb3690 Posted January 30, 2014 #33 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Fun post! Only been on one cruise next one is in 52 days, so that first cruise EVERYTHING was my favorite except leaving the ship to go home. LOL I really liked when we pulled out and everyone was waving at us. this is so silly but I wanted to throw streamers like they did on the Love Boat! LOL. I had an afternoon where my entire family was doing stuff. Teen hanging with friends, younger child in the kids club, hubby in the casino and I was relaxing just watching the ocean blue...drinks flowing...it was warm and relaxing. PERFECT day! Another good day was after our port day in Cozumel..we had SUCH a good time and everyone kept laughing over dinner...it was a good day. Cant wait for more memories! beachbum53 Posted January 31, 2014 #39 Share Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) I too like some of things already mentioned. Walking up the gangway and being "dinged" aboard for the first time on embarkation day. Having my first Pina Colada (it's a cruise tradition). People watching. Renewing our membership in the balcony club. :o Being able to get pizza and ice cream for a late night snack if we're hungry. And best of all, being out on the ocean, sitting on our balcony, and watching the waves go by, without a care in the world. Ahhh, cruising.:) Edited January 31, 2014 by beachbum53
RWolver672 Posted January 31, 2014 #40 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Out of the hundreds of things that I enjoy about a cruise, the one that stands out the most was the two times we cruised out of Miami and we had to head down to the turn-around basin before heading out to sea. It was unbelieveable to see that huge mass of steel pivot around on a dime.
Mysticks1 Posted January 31, 2014 #41 Share Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) Wow, I don't think I can name just one. Here are my top few. * When you make that step from the gangway onto the ship. * When you open your cabin door for the first time and step onto the balcony for the first time. * At sailaway when you are standing on the deck and feel the vibrations of the thrusters pushing you away from the pier and realizing you are moving. * That first morning waking up, going out on the balcony and seeing nothing but water. I get to do all of this exactly 100 days from today! :) Edited January 31, 2014 by Mysticks1

Butterbean1000 Posted January 31, 2014 #43 Share Posted January 31, 2014 My favorite part is all the sounds that are only associated with a cruise. The first ding you hear as you card is scanned for the first time. The ladies voice in the elevators. The sound of the ship's horn. The sounds of the ocean on you balcony late at night. The ding dong that sounds right before an announcement. The best part is that I will be hearing all of these things in 8 days!
Rena921 Posted January 31, 2014 #44 Share Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) All of these are great! Another one for me is the horn sounding just before sailing away..... 43 more days and I can't wait to get out of this frigid weather! christyran1228 Posted January 31, 2014 #45 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Our first one was just a few months ago ... and I have to say when they called our zone (2!), walking up the gangway was the most exciting. We've been looking at pics of everyone else's cruises for a really long time ... finally getting to see it with out own eyes was THE BEST! :D Everything else wasn't bad, either :p We won't get to check out the balcony club until November...though. lol Sent from my Commadore 64 using the Cruise Critic forum app
pokerbob Posted January 31, 2014 #46 Share Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) Pouring the first drink out of my RumRunners in my cabin, thinking about how furious the haters would get if they saw me breakin the rules. Really, the favorite part comes prior to cruise. We get a stretch limo to take us to the airport, and the kids really think they are bigshots. Truth be told, a cab would cost us the same amount..... best $ ever spent. When the limo pulls into our driveway, we know we are on vacation. Edited January 31, 2014 by pokerbob
