Navigator Rehab Shakedown Review

Our waiter brought us a sampler dessert tray and everything on it was lapped up with great relish...this they got perfect! Chocolate dipping sauce with Churos, some kind of coconut flan, another pudding like concoction and some other I don't recall, but it was scrumptious. BUT, you really need the other food to be right.

:D:D Sounds amazing! I might have to give this place a shot!

Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts and pictures!

So you're from Dallas?

Down here you hardly ever find Asada, it's all Guisada. And this stuff tasted like little flat pieces of chipped beef not traditional grilled Asada.

never mind...

Becci, thanks for all the info. Between Voyager, Mariner and Navigator, NV was our least fave so we were happy that it was getting an upgrade since we like Galveston departures. I too have been curious about Sabor since we Texans can be hard to please with so many great choices at home. Although it appears NV will only be here 1 year so it is more of a long term commitment for them than thought.

Becci, was Nadja the D lounge concierge? We met her in Dec. as she was helping out with concierge duties in the overflow lounge. She was great. Hope she did get the D concierge spot. Since there is no cover in Izumi, I wonder if there is any way to use a BOGO there?

Almost exactly like Mariner's and Freedoms, just different wallpaper, tile, but the same grey/yellow theme...it had the tree trunk tables, which I don't prefer, but.....

The spread for the cocktail hour was great, drinks great, full bar, unlike the Radiance which only gave us certain pre-selected cocktails:(

The old adage, each ship is different in certain areas applies well.

Was wondering if they had those tree trunk tables. Thanks for mentioning those. Agree with your preference on them. Not my favorite either. I was going to post the Diamond Lounge appeared to be a repeat of the Mariner one. The view and outdoor seating in the Diamond Lounge are the best touches.

Yes, Nadja was there she was very sweet.

Don't know about the BOGO.

We ate in the MyTimeDining area twice. The first night everything was absolutely delish, but the last night I, especially was disappointed with my fried fish mash plate. It was like a Gortons T.V. dinner...really...very surprised about that, when at the same time the starter of Scallops with Cherizo was delicious. It had 2 small planks of Cod I think and 2 itsy scallops fried to rubber...unbelievably bad. And I'm the one who wanted to go back to the MDR instead of to Chops on the last night! MIL and DH had the Manhattan strip steak and were disappointed, although DH has complained about the steak for the last few years...it is definitely not what it used to be. But then that's another story, right?

I can't say for sure, we never got served there, just used the giant picture frame for pics. I loved the old Champagne Bar, they really changed it...don't understand why either.

The lovely Freedom making her turn to back in, isn't she pretty?

Back to Izumi:

We were seated and given warm rolled up wash cloths to freshen up, then the menu which alas, I was having such a good time, forgot to film!

There is no cover here and dishes are priced separately.

The hot rock is a must, you cook your choice of meat and veggies and it works brilliantly. LOVED it! The sushi rolls are excellent, I got the fried shrimp one, yum!

I am still waiting for the food porn to upload, guess I should've waited longer to post....they are such big images its taking a long time, so I may skip around to other areas...sorry:o

That's different than on the Oasis class, they had a cover charge and a la carte pricing

Becci Boo,

Thanks for the pictures and your comments about the Navigator. Debbie and I were just on her in December and plan to get back on soon since the refurbishment. Like you did for this last cruise, as I retired, we will be looking for those great last minute deals.

It is nice to see the new Diamond Lounge. We used the old Card Room each evening and it was always packed. I hope they accounted for the growing size of Diamonds and the outside over flow area will help. Did they have a standing bar outside in the Diamond area?

We just did our first Celebrity cruise and enjoyed it. We also have a 23 nighter to Hawaii, Tahiti, and ends in Sydney Australia in Sept. Hopefully we can catch up with you guys again on the new Navigator.

I'm originally from near Austin... and I much prefer Guisada. But I've been noticing that a lot of places here (and there) are going more to the Asada. Probably because it's not as time consuming to cook ;)

I know the first time I ordered Carne Asada expecting Guisada I was highly disappointed.

And probably a lot less fattening too.

Debbie, they had no qualms about letting us out of the lounge to go sit in Viking Crown proper with our drinks and appetizers. Lot of people were doing that, we liked it because we wanted to sit with Todd's parents.

Yes, asked our waitress about it and she said there was not one, guess they decided to can that...I was glad. But I would've paid it, it was that good!

Here are some more pics of our cabin trying to get all the angles on the VB:

I loved the upholstery with the carpet and the curtains on the faux balcony:

Another great sunrise on Navigator:

New surfacing in the Solarium, we liked it, pretty slip proof and it goes up the steps to the Jacuzzi's:

I also like all the glass linear tile they have installed throughout the ship...its everywhere.

If you've been following the Navigator pictures of rehab on this board you know that the poured surface of both flooring in the above pics are the same substance, just finished differently. They scored and stained the surface of the main pool area so it looked like teak, but opted to leave it natural in Solarium so that it looked like clay tile.

We still have to get Todd's Dad's photos yet and I will be back tomorrow with more:

More food porn etc.
