New C&A Coupons on Seapass Card

I was just on the Navigator for the first cruse after dry dock and did not get the coupon booklet in my stateroom nor did I see any discounts on my seapass account. Can someone tell me how that works?

If there is no booklet, it means that they are done electronically and you should have had a piece of paper in your stateroom listing the offers that were applicable to you. The offers would have then been automatically applied if you were eligible for any of the offers. Did you have the information letter in your stateroom?

Would I be right in thinking that you will not see them directly on your seapass account as such and that if an offer was applicable, it would be automatically applied and then shown on the receipt for the purchase and the copy that shows on the TV?

Obviously this applies for purchases and not things like internet minutes... or would that work in a similar way?

Just inform them at the time of purchase that you do not want to use your coupon.

I didn't say that I wouldn't want to apply the coupon. I was making the point that it will be automatically applied if it is applicable and that the receipt would show if it had been used - to make sure you were getting the offers that you were entitled to.

mpoole3 - that is a really good tip, I was unaware that this was possible - thank you for the information

When Bars/Shops scan your sea pass card you can also request them to print all the remaining coupons you have.

This is the only way I can really keep up with what I have left to use.

Mpoole3; what a great idea. I had seen the sheet of paper in the stateroom explaining that all of the "discounts" will be on your seapass card but didn't use them all on my last cruise. Thanks for the tip!

Our experience has been that it will not be applied unless you tell them to use it.

Oh goodness, I thought with the fact that it was going electronic is that it would be applied automatically to make things easier.

Are you expected to know what is available or carry the piece of paper with you then?

We found that some of the bars either automatically applied your coupon or asked if you wanted to use it at that time but some of them just seemed to ignore the fact that you had a discount. We decided that it was just easier if we told them when we were ordering that we wanted to use the coupon.

Correct - when you look at your seapass account you cannot see the discounts on the folio.

Pretty much. My experience on Serenade was a mixed bag. MDR and bar staff were pretty good about letting you know "You have a coupon for this...would you like to use it?" Logo shop staff had to be shown the letter, but I understand that these are contractors and not RCI employees. In practice it might not be a bad idea to either remember or keep the letter on hand.

The internet minutes are automatically applied when you first setup your account. Also, if you buy additional minute pckages , any discounts are also automatically applied. The only difficulty I encounted was in getting my free minutes combined with my wifes for one account.

Off the Allure and we received a letter listing all of the perks loaded on the Seapass card, due D members. My only complain was the lack of info. on using/initiating the internet free minutes. You need to get "Access Codes" from Guest Services. I learned this the hard way when I initially tried to use the minutes and accidentally chose the $229 internet package. Got it reserved by Guest Services.

Just my opinion, but they should go back to the coupon book. It's easier to just hand the coupon. No arguing with staff about what has and hasn't been used already, no having things automatically applied when you don't want to, or not applied when you do want them to.

When your SeaPass Card is scanned, your Folio Number is the key that will let them know what has been used and what hasn't. You can always get a print out of your Account from GR at any time and it will show you which coupons have been used or, if available, use the Interactive TV and look up your account.

We had no such letter in our stateroom and we are C&A members. Nothing to do about it now but will sail again on March 2nd so will make a point to look for the letter. Thanks for all the input and great tips.

There is a crown and anchor paper describing all the events for your cruise for your tier level, such as the welcome back party,etc.. On the back of this are listed your electronic coupons, so if you got the paper telling you about the welcome back party then you got the list. Its left by your cabin steward along with the compass etc.

Yeah, I know how it works.

But we never got to use the BOGO coupons on our last cruise because when we went to use them we were told they'd already been used.

I didn't bother dealing with Guest Services to try to get an answer because I didn't want to waste my time, but either we never had them to begin with or some server mis-applied them because I know we had not used it as we had not ordered ANY beverages in pairs up to that point.

But I stand by my statement that the physical coupons are easier for the customer to keep track of what they have and haven't used. You are not at the mercy of RCI's IT system that is prone to error and says you have already used a coupon when you know you haven't, or their human employees, which are prone to error and either aren't fully trained on the SeaPass coupons or use them against your account when you don't want them applied. Just one more thing you now have to remain vigilant about in order for it to work the way you want it to.

I agree about the paper coupons ...

we are just off Adventure, using the electronic coupons was very difficult.

Once or twice they were applied without asking, when we didn't want to use them, and almost every time we did want to use them there was a problem.

Our waiter & the asst waiter in the MDR had no idea what to do with the 2 for 1 wine or soda. When I tried to get my extra bingo cards the staff pretended they had no idea anyone got free cards and then they tried to give me fewer cards than I was entitled to ... when I tried to collect my free photo staff also had "no idea" what I was talking about ...

We really had to push to get our perks. I think it's easier for them to just charge you whatever the regular charge is and not have to work the discounts ...

No problem using them in the casino, or in Johnny Rockets ...

Trying to use the internet freebies was a joke ... Mr Chew had to go back & forth to Guest Services multiple times and they never did get it figured out. The good news was that once they let him behind the desk and he was able to show them the problems, we got a lot of free internet.

But they still have a lot of bugs to iron out ... and they need to do a better job of training all staff how to implement the electronic perks ...
