RCI - Ice cream included??

Hi,

 

In Sep 2014 we will do our first RCI cruise (Liberty, Med).

As we know it from Celebrity and NCL, there is a Station at the Buffet restauran where you can choose ice cream for free.

Princess offers soft ice cream for free.

 

At RCI, is ice cream included in the cruise fare as well??

Yes on the ships we've been on they do have a self serve ice cream machine (not opened 24 hrs) and in the Windjammer they usually have 2 kinds of hard ice cream at dinner time.

And ice cream for dessert is always on the MDR menu!

The only ice cream not included is from the Ben & Jerry's stands on some ships - otherwise, ice cream in MDR, Windjammer, and the softserve machine on ships that have them are all included in your fare.

The soft serve is not icecream but made with yogurt and is really nice.

Ordinary icecream is offered in the Dining room in evening and when open for lunch.Also in evening in Windjammer.

You can get ice cream as explained above, but there is no ice cream station equivalent to what is found on a Celebrity ship.

I agree with cruisegirl, do not expect what you see on Celebrity unless you are willing to pay at Ben and Jerry's.

 

On RCI, the soft serve machine is called Sprinkles on the Liberty and its on the pool deck mid ship. Its the type that has vanilla or chocolate and/or vanilla or strawberry and if its working properly (only 50% of the time), you can do a swirl.

 

It was broken on the Liberty when I was on her a couple of weeks ago. If you wanted vanilla and chocolate, you had to get creative as the swirl part wasn't working.

 

There are always kids making a mess, I hate to walk near it as the floor around it is always sticky. They have very small cones in which to make your ice cream cone.

 

Again, don't expect the caliber of Celebrity's ice cream buffet choice.

You can get REAL ice cream for dessert in the dining room nightly. The "soft serve" is frozen yogurt.

I have gotten ice cream with cookies for dessert before in the MDR. They brought it for me off menu :)
