luvtosing Posted March 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2014 Has anyone ever had any trouble asking room stewards to remove balcony dividers for adjoining cabins? I am booked on Radiance in two adjoining cabins, so Radiance info would be great, although any Royal Caribbean ship info about balcony dividers would be appreciated. Thanks! Gilpet Posted March 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2014 I can't help with Radiance I'm afraid but we had the balcony dividers opened on Independence last year. The stateroom attendant unlocked it and then it was clipped to stay in place - it was no problem at all. Gill

The balcony dividers on Radiance class ships are fixed and can not be opened or removed. Edited March 1, 2014 by cruisenfever

Clarea Posted March 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 1, 2014 How about on the Oasis? Can they be opened? Thanks. Yes, by the stateroom attendant, subject to approval my ship's management.
setsail Posted March 1, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 1, 2014 Yes, by the stateroom attendant, subject to approval my ship's management. Would that include the CLS's facing the sports deck on deck 17?

Merion_Mom Posted March 1, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 1, 2014 Do they open on the explorer????? The Explorer is "first generation Voyager class", and the balconies are set into the hull. There are no "dividers" as such. They are solid steel walls.

Merion_Mom Posted March 2, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 2, 2014 Since we're on the subject, what about deck 7 Navigator cabin dividers? Those are capable of being moved. As stated previously, you have to get permission. Most captains allow it, but not all.

Merion_Mom Posted March 2, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 2, 2014 @merion mom... How about the Enchantment? Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app Sorry, no. I could be wrong, but I believe that the Navigator was the first RC ship to have balcony dividers that could be opened.

Caneschic Posted March 2, 2014 #18 Share Posted March 2, 2014 We sailed on the Allure in 2012 and they opened up our oceanview balconies without any problems. We just asked the room steward and gave him a tip.

Clarea Posted March 2, 2014 #20 Share Posted March 2, 2014 Does any one know about deck 10 on serenade of the seas whether they can be opened? I don't believe aby balcony dividers on Radiance Class can be opened.
frisbeewife Posted March 3, 2014 #21 Share Posted March 3, 2014 We had balcony rooms on deck 10 on Freedom of the Seas that were directly underneath the whirlpools that extend over the side of the ship. Our divider was a solid metal wall, presumably because of the weight of the whirlpool. So we could not open them. But the divider on the other side of me, the side that wasn't under the whirlpool, could have been opened. So even if most balcony dividers on a ship can be opened, it's possible that some will not be openable for structural or design reasons. akcruz Posted March 3, 2014 #24 Share Posted March 3, 2014 Since we're on the subject, what about deck 7 Navigator cabin dividers? We were denied on Navigator. While they are able to be opened I have heard that the way they were designed they tend to close by themselves with the potential for injury so the request on Navigator/Mariner is often denied. Supposedly they were redesigned starting on Freedom to be more secure. Therefore Freedom and Oasis class can be opened. We did have ours opened on Allure without any issues. rummenroman Posted March 3, 2014 #25 Share Posted March 3, 2014 what about on Liberty, deck 7? Did the Liberty in January. We had 18 of us, all in hump cabins. It was pretty cool to be able to have one massive balcony across the entire hump.
