I was on the Reflection last month, when my luggage didn't show up the cabin attendant found it in the 'naughty room' I has a steamer but they said it was ok, they just didn't allow irons.

In my opinion their charges are far from reasonable.

I copied and pasted this from another thread where someone posted all the prices for laundry services.

I don't know what you pay in the UK, but compared to what I pay in NY, these prices arent bad at all.

Pressing Only

Item Price

Suit $5.95

Jacket $4.95

Pants $3.95

Long Sleeved Shirt $3.95

Short Sleeved Shirt $2.95

Sweater $3.95

Shorts $2.95

Dress $5.95

Skirt $3.95

I agree, have two homes, one in rural Pa and one at the Jersey shore. Their prices are are the same as I pay in Pa, less than what I pay in NJ.

All I can say is that you are both very posh if you pay people to do your ironing,

Me? i just get the Mrs's to do it.

Strange, in Celebrity's Q&A's they say

Steamers or irons are not allowed onboard. However, there is a full laundry and dry-cleaning service available onboard for reasonable rates.

No Steamers allowed but Mussels are okay.................;)

I was thinking Steamer Trunk and picturing Rose boarding Titanic and then trying to figure out where you would place a steamer trunk in your cabin:D

I'm the same. Never let her see the laundry prices on board in case she starts charging! :D

If they catch you trying to bring them on board, they will wind up in the "naughty room" and you will be able to get them at the end of the cruise. Not worth the trouble.

I just got my edocs for my 7/4/14 cruise on Reflection. Nowhere does it say steamers are not allowed! It just say irons are not allowed.

I iron everything and get teased about it. I have never needed pressing or ironing on a cruise. I simply put the item on the hook inside the bathroom, turn the shower heat all the way up and give it a few minutes. It works every time.

I wouldn't be one to tease you! I believe ironed clothes look so much better - unironed clothes really leave a lot to be desired!

I do not find these prices to be reasonable at all. I pay less than that at home to have things cleaned AND pressed.

There was some back and forth in another recent thread about steamers. The prohibited items list from cruise docs or getting ready-wjhat to pack section does not mention steamers as someone pointed out to me, yet I know I have sen it someplace they are not allowed...must be FA's?

Any chance you can link to it?

The other thread they also said power strips were not prohibited, only extension cords....same deal the what to pack did NOT say anything about power strips, yet I was certain I had read of them explicitly being not allowed, though I say a power strip has an extended cord therefore it is a fancy extension cord. though many (myself included) do travel with both extension and power strip....however I make sure mine are bevy duty appliance rated for safety reasons (meant for air conditioners and heaters).

Irons and Steamers have been forbidden items for several years now, as someone stated enforcement is spotty.

From Celebrity Web site

Q: Is my stateroom furnished with amenities that I don’t need to pack?

A: All stateroom bathrooms are equipped with soap, shampoo, conditioner and a wall-mounted hair dryer. All ships in our fleet have at least one North American and one European outlet in every stateroom. Millennium Class and Solstice Class ships each have multiple North American and European outlets.

Steamers or irons are not allowed onboard. However, there is a full laundry and dry-cleaning service available onboard for reasonable rates.

Regular service, picked up before 9AM - returned next day. For same day service, picked up before 9AM and returned same day, add 50% express service surcharge.

All suites have a safe located in the closet. All staterooms have a safe behind the desk mirror or in the closet.

So, the questions on the floor (aren't you glad you asked, OP?) are

Which of these lists is the most official?

If something is on one list as forbidden, but omitted from the other two, what does that mean?

Which list should passengers adhere to?

-------------------------------

The fact is, that passengers HAVE been stopped and had items taken from them, including kettles, extension cords, clothes irons, steamers, electric coffee pots, and power strips.

OTHER passengers have gotten through with all of the above.

One passenger's success at taking on a steamer, or a kettle, or a pair of scissors, or a hammer does not mean that the next passenger will be equally successful.

On a recent cruise I was on, some passenger's scissors (less than 4 inch blades) were taken by Security in Auckland, New Zealand. Others on the same cruise brought the same kinds of scissors on board with no problem.

Some posters report bringing steamers aboard with no problem. Others have theirs taken.

Just be ready for anything.
