Suite Breakfast in Sabatinis

We (DH, DS and I) are cruising in a suite for the first time on the Grand soon and I was wondering about breakfast in Sabatinis. We are traveling with other friends and family. Does it have to be the people actually staying in the suite, or can I take others with me if my DH and DS would prefer the buffet?

Suite occupants only.

They will have a passenger list.

IMO, it's totally over-rated so tell your friends they won't be missing that much. I guess I'm in the minority on that opinion though. It IS a more civilized way to have breakfast, but I haven't been that impressed with the service or the food. I guess I like to get what I want in the buffet, eat and get going.

Sabatini's for breakfast is wonderful! We've been in a suite on 2 different Princess ships - the latest the Grand last summer to Alaska. Since starting the suite approach we've stopped doing room service for breakfast because we can't bring ourselves to not do Sabatini's.

 

As the other poster said they'll know you by day 2. The food is the best breakfast on the ship, the service is great, and it's soooo relaxing of a setting - especially if you go toward the end of the time slot as we like to do and you have the place almost to yourselves.

 

The hours differ between port and sea days so be sure to watch for that. And then just enjoy!!!

I will second what KruzeKrazy had to say. I had my first suite recently and breakfast at Sabatini's was by far the best perk associated with booking a suite. The service was outstanding; the food was excellent and cooked to order; and it was quiet and relaxed.

We had the opposite experience. The food and service were much better than the MDR and it would be one of my main reasons to book a suite. We are Elite and get most of the perks anyway.

We have always been there when Sabatini's opened and had the same experience, had the place to ourselves everytime but once.

 

In any case, it is quite the relaxing breakfast.

Everyone that has breakfast at Sabatini's is occupying a suite so captain's circle status is irrelevant.

I totally agree. We have been booking suites for ten years and it just isn't the same. We did a month long cruise last year and breakfast was the best part of the day. It was like a big family - everyone stopped and talked at each table as they entered and the staff was outstanding. They joked with us constantly and we really hated to have it end. And we were treated like royalty when we dined there in the evenings. But our last two cruises we very disappointing. Not sure if they were understaffed or what but we ended up eating in our cabin half the time. Maybe we have done it so many times that the food isn't anything special anymore - nothing new.

 

We just feel the suite life has gone downhill in many ways. Maybe if it is your first or second time, it may be great but the perks aren't anymore. We get the same ones for being elite.

We've not had that experience in Sabatini's and have been having breakfast there since the perk started so hopefully your recent experience was a fluke.

 

I definitely agree the suite life has been degraded with the loss of free internet, and other little things that made it special.

Just exactly our opinion as well. I would not book a suite in order to have breakfast at Sabatinis. We have had no problem getting what we want delivered to the suite. IMHO, a much nicer way to start the day.:D

We just came off the Emerald TA and experienced the same high level of personal service at our Sabatini's breakfast as we always have. The staff was superb throughout the cruise.

 

On day one we explained that we liked our breakfast potatoes sautéed with equal parts of onions. The chef came to our table and said they would be made to order each morning. They were and were perfect.

 

We still enjoy our Sabatini's breakfast as a special treat and we have not seen any drop off in service or personal interaction.

Actually on our last three cruises (Golden, Ruby, Ruby) the service has been the best we have experienced since this perk was begun.

As to breakfast in Sabatini's being overrated, I guess it depends on who's doing the rating. For us it's breakfast done very well.

 

If you're on the run, Sabatini's is not the place for breakfast...HC is better suited. We enjoy eggs Eggs Benedict and have found the offerings in HC or the MDR just don't cut it.

 

Breakfast in Sabatini's is a great way to begin the day...

We also enjoy breakfast at Sabatinis. IMHO that's the only real benefit left for suite customers who are also elite passengers. We have been able to order things not on the menu and get it - maybe not that very morning but on the next one.

 

I would also like to say that we don't book a suite for breakfast at Sabatinis. Some of us really do like the additional space including a large balcony. We're atypical cruisers perhaps because we don't go to shows or the casino. We like to spend time in our cabin relaxing. We also prefer eating in the alternative restaurants because, frankly, on our last few cruises we felt the MDR food, service and general ambiance had declined. My DD and I will be on the Emerald in a few weeks and we'll see if we find that it has improved. Regardless, we have always had a wonderful time on our cruises.

We just completed the last cruise on the Caribbean Princess before drydock and really loved our breakfast in Sabatinis each morning. Since we're elite this perk and the extra mini bar are the only extras for the suite (of course, we like the extra space too).

 

My husband wanted oatmeal several mornings (not on menu) and they got that for him, they also had our juice ready for us (a mix of orange and cranberry - not on the menu like that). Loved that the speciality coffees were included and mimosas if you like. We exchanged one of our mini bars for two coffee cards and never even used them this cruise (saved for the next one).

 

We mostly skipped lunch each day since this breakfast was more than we usually eat (but I still gained weight):D I can't compare to past cruises since this was our first time in a suite.
