Anyone been denied The Vibe?

You are the first person who has posted about how hard it was to get a pass, so if you don't mind, may I ask you a few questions? What time did you go to Guest Services to buy the pass? Was it immediately upon boarding... and if so, were you in one of the first boarding groups? And since there were lots of people behind you in line waiting to buy a pass, did you see or hear of people who were not able to get a pass?

Sorry for following up so late. We arrived at the pier around 9:30am and were in boarding group one. That sounds great but.........they board, at least when we where there in two locations. I knew it was going to be a race, their were at least a dozen people around us all talking about the Vibe. We boarded and I walked very fast, passing some older couples down to GS. Like I said before they had 40 passes, I got 36-37. Their was at least 3-4 dozen people who arrived within 10-15 minutes of myself who did not look too happy. If your cruising is warm weather be prepared to arrive very early. Their must be a better system.

FYI. One of the older couples I passed offered me $250.00 for our wrist bands.....I didn't need the money that bad:D

I can't stress enough......if you really want a pass arrive at 9:00am. The $79.00 each is well worth the price!!!

Thank you for your responses :) You mentioned something that I was actually thinking about... the two boarding locations, forward and aft. CC member Winston Wolf just did a review on the BA and he acquired Vibe passes, but he was in the aft boarding group and spoke of only having to walk down one flight of stairs and a few steps to arrive at the counter. One seems to definitely have the advantage if boarding AFT if you want Vibe passes. So the new question of the day...

How do they decide who boards in the forward groups and who boards in the aft groups? Can you choose which location to board? Is it determined by your cabin location? That would stink, because mine is mid-forward, so I would be boarding forward :(

Anyone???

On last weeks Getaway sailing they still had passes at 9PM on the first evening. We arrived at port around 10:00, boarded around 11:45 in group 7 and received ours around 11:50. There was no mad Vibe rush that I could tell.

Your cabin aft or forward has nothing to do with it. Its all done by cabin deck. We had a Spa Mini on deck 14 and boarded aft. We were told this in check in. The couple next to us on deck 11 boarded forward. All of the suite passengers board forward and early. One thing that irked me a little was we met a couple in the Vibe who had a suite, they weren't even on the ship yet and ask the concierge for Vibe passes. The had the wrist bands before they even boarded. Seem's a little unfair when the rest of us are rushing to get there, what are you going to do?

I'm in a spa balcony on 14... so I guess I will be boarding aft... yeah for me!

I am surprised people could get the passes before they even boarded, suite or no suite... just surprises me

Yup, I was the 36th person in line. The line started about 3 minutes before I got there. I could here the first couple asking for a cabana......sorry the 6 or 8, I forget how many their are were all taken by suite guest........never even had a chance lol

Keep in mind that as a suite guest you board first, so you would have first dibs on the cabanas and passes anyway. As a suite guest with Haven access you are taken to the Haven to meet the concierge and a brief introduction of services. If they didn't reserve the Vibe prior to boarding, the opportunity may be missed. Personally, I don't obtain a Vibe pass because since we have Haven access, I think it's a bit unfair and excessive. But then again, I am not a Sun worshipper and spend most of my time in the spa and ( until recently) casino:p

Hi K! Agreed on the "watchers". I saw couple guys come in one time while the door was open and ask the bartenders how you get access to the area. I probably wouldn't have had a clue if not for reading CC after we booked last summer! Read enough threads and you know exactly where you board, where to go, and and how to get there! :p

Any advice on where to board, where to go, and how to get there? I am on deck 11 on Getaway so based on a different post I think I am in forward boarding?

FYI -If someone misses Vibe passes, the Vibe bar extends outside of the Vibe entrance to a sundeck that is open to everyone. Those chairs were always empty on our at-capacity Getaway cruise last week. Same bar. Same bartender. Same view (only opposite side of the ship), and no extra charge. Of course, Vibe didn't sell out so it didn't really matter. I just want to make sure people know that it really isn't the end of the world and makes little difference if you get passes or not. (Other than the price.) Oh, and they have the fruit skewers, cold towels, etc. on all the sundecks. These are not a Vibe perk only.

.....last year when we sailed on the Breakaway I wanted a Vibe pass for the Queen. We stayed in NYC the night before the cruise. I explained to the Queen that she would have to get to the port early with me to try and accomplish this. She obliged since this was for her.

We got to the port in about the 10:00-10:30 range. Received the first boarding group whatever number it was. We were waiting at the entrance for the number to get called and when it did, I went directly to Guest Services, found the Vibe line and went on it.

The attendant was handing out numbers since only 50 are available. We got numbers 48 and 49. When the attendant went to the person behind us, he said he needed 2 and they gave him the 2nd one, so that made 51.

He then went to the next person on line to tell them they were shut out of the Vibe passes. The gentleman, who was a CC member, said he got to the port @ 9:30 to specifically get these for him and his wife and it would be a tremendous disappointment if he could not get them. The attendant was nice enough to give him 2, making it 53 and everyone was happy. (except for ALL people behind him. ;))

We were in there the majority of the week and it might have been filled to capacity only once.

We have a Haven Spa Suite this year and I think I will try and surprise the Queen with a cabana. If I can get one then great, if not I won't bother since we can be on the Haven sundeck instead.

:)

At what point do ADA passengers board?

A) Before anyone including haven and suite passenger.

2) After haven and suite passenger, before regular boarding.

c) With boarding group 1.

IV) Some other time.

101) My numbering sequence is bizarre especially using binary 5.

I believe it was group 2 or 3. Definitely before 5.

Just got off the Breakaway today and wanted to note that Vibe is worth every penny. Totally made the trip! We got to the pier around 9:30 and were boarding group 6 (but 1-5 are reserved so this was really the first boarding group they handed out). When we boarded we went straight to guest services. There was no line and no rushing crowd. We got passes 15 and 16. We were also offered a cabana.

Vibe was never packed. It was very serene. We loved it.

Just for the record, we got to the port early (like the 8th-11th people at the port) and were easily able to get the passes. In fact, both couples got the cabanas. It. Was. Perfect. This wonderful lady working at the port has to sit according to your arrival and it is all very civilized. Sailing away just the four of us in one of the two hot tubs watching the NY skyline disappear (not the mention Lady Liberty and the bridge) with drinks in hand....... That cruise was, without a doubt, the BEST vacation I have ever been on and The Vibe had a lot to do with that. We actually just booked her again for this coming September but this time in a Haven Spa Suite!!!!! This year will be even better!!! =)

YMMV

Per the wind/heat/etc for the Cabana. It does block the wind...which can be a really good thing, especially on Sea days. We never noticed it being overly windy up there (except the last day which was like a hurricane in there and rendered all of Vibe unaccessable), but if you're sailing in May or October where temps are in the 70's....blocking the wind isn't a bad thing. It can make sitting up there under the sun pretty nice actually.

.

We were disappointed With the Vibe because of the high winds on all of our sea days. As you said it was like a hurricane and totally unusable. All chairs and cushions had to be tied down and no bartenders on that side since it was so dead. The only people up there were the in the cabanas since they did block the wind. It was very disappointing and a waste of $158 bucks. If it was usable it would have been great. I m not sure why they couldn't put up a higher wind wall? I'm on the fence on if I would try it or not again. I don't know if that was unusual or just how it is in November?

We were in group 7, on the Getaway in November and the 4 people behind us got passes too. No numbers were given.

Vibe does have it's own bartender, TV's, showers, restrooms, hot and cool tubs, umbrellas, loungers, beds and peace and quiet. The latter is what I enjoyed most.

On the Getaway we shared the bar tender with the open (non-vibe side). Sometimes it was hard to get his attention.

Vibe doesn't have a pool - just hot tubs. Unlike The Haven, it's adults only.

What is considered an adult age in POSH, as we are traveling with a young adult? But if she can't get in with us, we wouldn't even bother purchasing for ourselves. I had not even thought of that yet.

I have bought vibe passes on both Getaway and Breakaway and my wife and I thought it dramatically enhanced our vacation. The lounge chairs are padded and comfortable there are day beds and most importantly it's never been crowed or noisy.

According to NCL's website:

Guests ages 18 and over will also have the opportunity to enjoy another private retreat ? Vibe Beach Club ? by purchasing an access pass. Complete with ocean views, a large hot tub, luxurious chaise loungers and a soothing water feature, Vibe Beach Club will be the ideal spot for adults to escape, offering a serene, comfortable setting while soaking up the sun. A full-service bar, water spritzers and chilled towels complete the exclusive experience.

Enjoy!!

Having read everyone's responses I think it's safe to say that the passes are strictly the luck of the draw. On some sailings, they sell out immediately and others not so fast. If I wanted one, I wouldn't chance it by boarding later.

On Epic last year, we were in Group 3. We were in line to buy when they began cutting off the line behind us. I believe we were #11&12. Best money I ever spent on ship.

Why do they make us run for these passes? They say they don't want you to arrive at the port earlier than 11:00 (Epic Miami) but then they have something that is first come first served. It forces people who want the Vibe/Posh passes to arrive earlier and earlier and then when boarding does begin jockey and elbow those less able to "run" to the GS desk. Thus starting at least some people's vacation on a sour note. It just doesn't make sense to me. It should be available for pre-booking online just like dining or entertainment. That would have the added benefit of encouraging early cruise booking, too.

I agree 100%, on our BA trip I had to walk very fast to get to guest services. We got 38 and 39. Their were a LOT of pissed off people behind us, they just kept coming and coming. We did stand there for another 12-15 minutes because they were having some issues with the bands. I think it should be an option to buy them either when you book or on the NCL web site
