Semi LIVE Review:Oasis of the Seas - June 21, 2014 - Western Caribbean

Recommended Posts

Not sure what happened, but suddenly the pics got really big! I have to scroll across to read the text, which isn't easy. Can we make it smaller for the next page?

Sorry about that Sunny AZ Girl. I thought I was making them more vibrant and here I was making them way too big. Should have left well enough alone. Thanks for letting me know. I sure appreciate it!

For others posting pics looks like for Flickr the 800 is large enough. Thanks again Sunny AZ Girl.

Day 3 Labadee, Haiti

This is an all beach day for everyone. You do not get to go into a town and tour. This area was built up by RCCL for your enjoyment. It includes all the water sports you can ever imagine, a Zipline and even a Roller Coaster.

You can choose how long you want to stay ashore as the ship docks and you need not worry about tendering.

RCCL staff prepares a Bar-B-Q that you can partake of without going back to the ship for lunch. It begins about noon and includes all you can eat chicken, ribs, corn on the cobb, salads desserts and fruits etc. The lines get long quick so if you ate breakfast early you may want to get in line before noon.

Just be sure to check as there are a couple of pavilions to eat and there are a few lines at each pavilion. When I arrived there were a couple of long lines and then I spotted a much shorter line that was just waiting for me.

There are cabanas for rent and Suite guests also have choice cabanas for their enjoyment. You will find plenty of lounge chairs and shade if you want it.

There are also trams to take you around and lots of shopping areas for you to buy souvenirs etc. and beach wear.

Ms Oasis looked GRAND sitting there in all her glory!!!

For those who may need help walking that long distance from the ship there are Sand Chairs available. Ms Rosalee used one. It is suggested that you give the driver a tip.

Trams are available to take you to various spots.

True Cruisin'Kim because when I looked at the larger ones even on my iPad they were fine. I'm glad Sunny AZ Girl let me know though as I want everyone to be able to see all of the pics and posts.

More to come cruisers!!!

JC it was pretty cool especially since I wasn't expecting it. Evidently you get your first one at 140 sail days and then one every 70 days after that. So get ready!

Hi,

Do you know if that for 140 days or 140 cruise points?

Thanks

Bar B Q lunch that I got from the pavilion with a Labadee Labadoozee purchased from an RCCL bartender who walks along the beach serving you. They make it real easy for you.

One note about the Labadoozee. It was very tasty!! I like sweet drinks and this was fruity and very sweet. I can not drink the frozen ones as it is an instant brain freeze. This was smooth but not frozen. However, we watched him pour the liquor in and it appeared to be a lot that he poured in yet none of us got even a buzz from the drink. For $10 a pop we at least should have felt a lil buzz, don't you think? Perhaps some liquor experts can "splain" this one Lucy. (Said in my best Ricky Ricardo voice)

Hi,

Do you know if that for 140 days or 140 cruise points?

Thanks

PCWalton1, Right, now they call it 140 points. I'm from the ol way when we worked in days but it is better with points. On a Navigator cruise Dec 2012 that was 7 days I actually got triple points (21points). It was a 7 dayer (7points) in a Suite (7 more pts) and Diamonds in December (which added 7 more pts). That was real SWEET!!!!:D

By the way thanks for this picture I picked up from live Allure review. I forgot to take one.

This is a picture of the famous Park Cafe (in CentraL Park ) roast beef sandwich that should be part of your embarkation meal.

The pictures are fine on my tablet also . But on the computer they are way too large . They are so big that you have to scroll the page left to right in order to read the text.

I can see how that could be frustrating - glad that they are all fixed! 😄

Reminder our embarkation lunch was at Giovanni's. With the Family Style service for appetizers and sides we pretty much had the opportunity to check out majority of the dishes.

Just when you thought they wouldn't think of any thing else for Labadee RCCL surprised us with a Roller Coaster.

Let's finish our day at Labadee with a few pics of The Dragon's Tail Coaster.

...but before that take a look at what you have to wear on the Dragon's Flightline AKA the Zipline...

please be aware also there is a weight restriction of 250 for the Dragon's Flightline ...I understand part of the line is over the rocky portion of the water and with too much weight you might end up in that rocky water...:o

Be sure to visit the water park...also please note the side of the beach we were on had the Dragons Flightline AKA the Zipline but don't forget you have all of the water toys on the opposite side of the street where there is a whole other beach. If I can find a pic of the water toy side I will post it.

I was incorrect. The person who took pic was not standing on the Allure he was on a bridge on the way to Atlantis. This is his narrative:

"I took this picture when were going over the bridge towards Atlantis. From the left' date=' Majesty of the seas, Disney Dream, Carnival Dream, NCL Sky and Oasis of the Seas. You can see that Oasis was doing a life boat drill, the funny thing is we did not see this at the time, the ship is so BIG that she blocked everything."

Thanks again cruiser Gambee.

New Crown and Anchor Drink Coupons for Diamond and above.

We did not have them loaded on our cards on this cruise but I had an email waiting for me when I got home. The Diamond Lounge is never crowded when I go in there on any Oasis class ship. I never go every day. Most days I forget about it as most people I cruise with are not yet Diamond. I did go to the lounge a couple mornings to grab a quick something to eat. Mostly fruit and a small Danish.

This is what the email said:

"YOUR ONBOARD LOUNGE BENEFITS JUST GOT BETTER

We are excited to introduce an expanded Crown & Anchor Society benefit for you during your upcoming cruise! In addition to the nightly receptions at the Diamond Lounge and the Concierge Lounge (for our Diamond Plus and Pinnacle guests), you now have the flexibility to enjoy happy hour at a wide variety of bars onboard.

Your SeaPass Card will be pre-loaded with three complimentary drink vouchers for each night of the sailing, which can be used during nightly lounge hours. Toast your way around the ship, on us!

This expanded benefit will be slowly rolled out across the entire fleet by Fall. Kindly note, drinks vouchers are not valid in the main dining room, the Windjammer Café or in any of our specialty restaurants, and expire daily."

What do you all think about the new Drink Coupons? Has any one used them yet?

The Hilton is only 5 minutes from the pier so once me and Ms. Rosalee found each other in the lobby we got a taxi and in no time at all Ms. Oasis was sitting right in front of us.

For newbies you leave your bags with bag checkers (with a tip) and go into the terminal to check in. Have passport and SetSail Pass available and then proceed thru the security check point. Make sure you have meds' date=' swimsuit, and anything you may need because you may not see your bags you left outside with the checkers until after dinner.

Ms. Rosalee goes thru security just fine. My bag is put thru X-ray twice and then I hear the security person who is checking the X-ray of my bag say "cork screw". SAY WHAT?!!!! Did she say Cork Screw? Where? Who has a cork screw? Me? Dang it!! I don't remember packing a corkscrew this time. And if I did I have no idea where it is at this point. Now the security person who checks bags for naughty items has my bag and is escorting it over to the counter.

Me: No sir I do not have a cork screw but if I did what difference would it make? If you're allowed to bring wine on why can't you bring a cork screw?

...To be continued[/quote']

So let's continue talking about security at embarkation. We were last talking about the fact that the person looking at the X-ray of my bag thought she saw a cork screw.

So I got called out of the line and had to open my bag. Now people who know me know that I carry everything but the kitchen sink in my bags. But rarely do I carry Naughty Items but I have on occasion included a corkscrew in my repertoire. I am the go to person when folks forget things. I never was a Girl Scout but I like to say I travel with a Girl Scout mentality. "Better to have and not need than to need and not have."

So there I am, with Ms Rosalee looking on, with my carry-on bag opened so that the security person who checks carry on bags for naughty items (SCOBCFNI-Security Carry On Bag Checker For Naughty Items) has full disclosure.

The SCOBCFNI commences to take certain items out of my bag, one item at a time that he suspects shows up on the X-Ray machine as a Corkscrew. We will not mention what items he took out but none of them were naughty items and frankly none of them resembled a corkscrew.

Each time he discovered a new suspected item, he removed it from my bag and sends my bag thru the X-Ray Machine again. This goes on for about 4 or 5 rounds. Each round the x-ray security person says that she still sees the corkscrew looking item.

Finally the SCOBCFNI discovers this item. Does anyone know what this is?
