I am concerned about getting bored on sea days. This will be my first cruise. What do you do besides lay around the pool?

We are going NCL.

.....there's something else to do besides lay around the pool?

;)

While we wait for our next cruise we have sea days on our deck. We listen to good music have a few drinks and take naps. You've got to love the sea days.

My favorite days are sea days, lol. We love having nothing we have to do but at least 10 things we want to do. Lazy mornings with coffee on our balcony, a little sunbathing, maybe an afternoon nap or another reason to return to the cabin in the middle of the day, lol, a martini tasting, a few games of trivia, schedule a massage or workout in the enormous gym onboard. I hope to do a transatlantic crossing at some point so I can have 8-10 sea days!!!

What do you do at home? On a rainy day? Oh wait... I clean and do laundry. And I don't think NCL would approve.

Work out

People watch

Take photos or videos

Meet new people

To add a few. Sea days are the best!!!

We are going NCL.

Which NCL ship? Even the older ones provide plenty of activities.

Each night you'll get the ship's newsletter and it will include activities available the next day.

Most, such as Trivia or Wii activities are free.

Some, such as wine tasting, have a charge.

There is a gym on board and using the equipment is free.

There is a deck for walking or jogging.

Most ships have an observation lounge for enjoying the view.

There is a library with books to check out and read, or reference books to use.

There are bars if you like to drink. Many have live musician to listen to during the day as well as in the evening.

Cards and board games are available.

Sometimes craft lessons are available.

There are other passengers to chat with.

Sometimes there are lectures to attend.

Except on POA, there is a casino.

My very first cruise I felt the same way - we sailed out of NY on a Sunday and our first port was San Juan, arriving Wed afternoon. THREE full sea days - I thought I'd be staring at the coastline wishing for three days to hurry up!! Boy was I wrong.. I LOVED the sea days. There's tons to do (or not), you'll find your groove. You may even find that you really do like just hanging out by the pool. Initially my husband was anti-cruise, thought he'd be bored.. "not gonna lay around in the sun all day" kinda attitude.

I think he loved it more than I did

ROFL, too funny Donna

OP DH thought the same thing before our first cruise, he is anything but a "lay around relaxing" kind of person.

I really can't add much to the list you have already been given, but I will say that we have never been bored.

I actually find sea days to be the most relaxing. Less "running around" to and from places in the port.

The things I do on sea days:

Wine tasting

Casino

Watch shows on the ship

Dip in the pool/jacuzzi

Eat

Nap

Read/relax

Listen to music

Shop

Play mini golf

Do the rope course/rock wall

I'm also doing the same active training regimen for our upcoming cruises. Sea days are to infrequent to take for granted. Relaxing is hard work but someone has got to do it...
