QM2 - table for 2

We have requested a table for 2 .... Are we likely to get it? :)

It all depends on your Maitre d'. We were always under the impression that the earlier you book, the more chance you have of a table for two. We booked our crossing last month eleven months before sailing. We got our table for two but it was only a few inches apart from the next one - virtually a table for four. So when we went to the Maitre d', he more or less implied that we should have told him beforehand that we wanted a more separate table for two. I'm not sure how we could have done this though?

Anyway, he got us a proper table for two on the restaurant upper level. I wonder what made our Maitre d' think we would want the table he assigned us?

Just to add:

The table behind us which was another table for two was empty all the first week.

Our experience has been that the earlier you buy your tickets, the greater your chances of getting it for early dining. If you don't mind eating late, the odds of getting it seem to be much better. If you don't get assigned to a table for 2, be sure to talk with the Maître d' about it as soon as you can after boarding. Of course, there is no guarantee, but we did have our seating changed after boarding on the QE by the Maître d' on an previous voyage.

This as always been our experience also. If you requested a table for two, you will be assigned a table for two. But you will probably have to line up and see the Maitre d' on the first day to get a "real" table for two that is not four inches from another. Go to the Dining Room and find your assigned table immediately after boarding to determine if you want to waste the afternoon seeking an audience with the Maitre d' to seek a change.

If you have paid full fare your chances will be good. However if you have booked a late deal, I wouldn't hold your breath! As has already been said, the late seating dinner is least popular, so if you try and change on boarding day, this might be worth remembering.

As others state..It depends on when you book the trip. Either way a quick talk to the Maitre D usually gets the desired results. It could happen the next day & not the first day of your trip, so be patient. If the Maitre D does a good job for you, slip him/her a $20 for their service.
