tipping at bar?

Recommended Posts

Hi all. New to RCI and have a question about purchases at the bar. We have pre-paid our gratuities and purchased the soda package, but I know we have to pay for alcohol. My question is, if we purchase a drink from the bar, do we tip the bartender? I thought I had read somewhere that bar drinks/specialty drinks automatically had a certain percentage automatically added on to them, as a gratuity? But I didn't want to seem like a cheapo and not tip the bartender, unless they already know they have a tip added in?

I'm bringing along some $1's for room service tipping, just needed to know if I need more for bar. We will be on the Adventure, if that makes any difference. Thanks!!!!

Every drink you buy they will add a 15% tip. Just sign the receipt.

If you wish to tip more, go ahead.

Gratuities are automatically added to each bar purchase.

The best answer you will get! :)

BTW if you do tip extra, cash, OR adding 1 buck or two to the receipt also works.

As previously stated there is a 15% automatic gratuity added.

If you decide to add more you can do so right on the receipt similar to a restaurant or bar in the US. Cash is not needed at the bar as a tip but is certainly welcome. :)

Although every bar purchase will include the automatic 15% gratuity, some folks choose to tip additional. You're certainly welcome to do so, if you'd like. The auto gratuity applies to drinks that are brought to you by the bar servers (on the pool deck/at a club), or if you go to the bar counter and order it yourself.

As mentioned, any bar receipt will have 15% added as a gratuity.

When we go to a bar and order a drink, we do not tip extra. But, when we order from a server in the casino, lounge, or pool deck we like to tip them extra in cash. But, that is certainly a personal decision and the extra tips are appreciated, not expected.

Or buy water when you are in port and walking off the ship.

Blimey !!!!!

It surprises me how many people would be willing to tip bartenders more than 15% just for a drinks service

?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

It depends on how good the service is. No???

I always tip extra, and go to the same person.

You would be surprised how he remembers you, and makes you " Better " drinks.

Also I get free shots " To try out " :D

This is your answer!!!!! I do the same and it is amazing what 10 dollars cash the first day can buy you the rest of the week!!!! Edited by cruisinghawg
