Concierge Lounge ruined me!

Recommended Posts

CL on the Allure and Oasis are the BEST. Cooked to order breakfast and lunch are worth cruising in a suite. However, I have seen less than well behaved children in there. One child was even permitted to climb on the support poles that are near the windows overlooking the boardwalk. (Of course, she was a "well-behaved" angel to her family. Because, after all, aren't they all.)

Just off the Rhapsody yesterday from a great Alaskan adventure. I'm ruined forever because I will NEVER cruise again in anything other than a suite. The CL is the best thing ever! We spent so much time in there. The espresso/coffee machine make the suite price worth every penny if you are a coffee lover. The cocktails in the evening, and the appetizers, morning noon and night, make it even better. But most of all, I just loved going in there to sit and relax in a very private room. Our concierge made reservations for us almost every night and escorted us off the ship at all our ports ahead of the big long lines. We were extremely spoiled. That's why I'm ruined. I will never be able to enjoy a regular cabin again. I'm ok with that, we just have to save up for a long time before we cruise again. I'll be writing a review as soon as i get thousands of pictures off various cameras.
Saw from the Google Doc spreadsheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hKBiGZ9Gqcp2G2owtX3RyQy7yQ0ijgxCL0nPjQKK8j4/edit?pli=1#gid=0 that Amit was your Concierge. He was in the CL & DL on Freedom when we sailed in 2010 and 2011 and he is a great Concierge.

We LOVE the perks associated with sailing in a suite, on RCCL....and the suites "ain't" too shabby either. Our cruise on the OASIS in January went so well, we booked the same suite on the ALLURE in January of 2015. however, the CL didn't impress us too much. It seemed the concierges were never there and we had trouble getting a waiter to serve..let alone NOTICE us. I felt like "Mr Cellophane" It was very uncomfortable and we really didn't feel welcome. I'm willing to guess that this was just a "fluke" and we'll try again next year. We're going to have another great cruise. Haven't had a bad one yet!

Ugh, my husband now has the same mentality. Now it's longer between cruises! :P

If I waited any longer then I am now, I'd pull all of my hair out.

Well what's left of it. :o

So, with the access to the CL, would you say it negates the need for a beverage package if you are not much of a drinker? Or would, say a replenish package be worth it for the other areas of the ship? DW and are on our first cruise in an OS in October on Jewel for 7 days that is relatively port intensive with only two sea days.

Access to the CL/DL certainly negates our need for an alcoholic beverage package.

We had the drink package and had several drinks in the lounge daily. That would not stop me from getting the package again. The R Bar makes too many good drinks you can't get elsewhere. We had so many Cucumber Fizz (fizzes??) we lost count.

Who in their right mind would allow their child to climb on support poles???? That's crazy.

If I saw that, I think I may have to record it. Someone surely would be interested in seeing that, even if the concierge does not.

Ugh.....

We love the CL/DL, love the atmosphere, the drinks are nice but the best is the great people we get to meet and mingle with throughout the cruise.

Can't imagine my life without the CL/DL.....

We have tried a few other companies but RC has got us hooked....

Keep cruising....

This is why a lot of us cruise a lot getting up to diamond plus or pinnacle for the concierge lounge and diamond for diamond lounge

You also meet do many wonderful people there

Enjoy

Greg

Yes, as D+, we have also "paid" our way in with thousands of dollars being spent on multiple cruises.

The CL is definitely great. It's where have met some of the nicest people and made "forever" friends. Of course, the drinks and hors d'oeuvres are nice too!

I'm looking forward to my first cruise in a suite next year. That one will make me Diamond, so I'll have DL access from then on. Too bad my cruise companion for the following cruise isn't Diamond so I won't be able to use the lounge too much :(

Only another 12 cruises or so and I'll make D+ :p

But you should have the drink vouchers, so you can join your companion at any bar and still get some free drinks.:)

Yes, I know that, but still, my very first cruise as Diamond and I'm sailing with a newbie :p I suppose I can find a way to get her a drink with one of my vouchers. I sure as heck don't need three drinks per evening

Maybe I've missed it, but I cannot recall seeing any prohibition on using a drink voucher to give a drink to someone else.

I've never had a problem with kids in the CL. They are usually well behaved and don't stay very long. Seems like a strange reason to leave a cruise line altogether!

Agreed, the kids are usually well behaved and I never minded them and they usually don't mind me:p

There were children in the CL who were so well behaved. However it was the mother's behavior that was appalling. She reprimanded her child for something ridiculous and put her hand on him. I did not witness this, but my friend did.

We are D+. Still a few points before we get to Pinnacle.

We love the Diamond lounge as they usually have windows

We have never had a suite, prefer to have several cruises each year. Already had two this year and another three booked including one over Christmas.

So glad you enjoyed it. But it's funny how different strokes for different folks really is the case. I've traveled Oasis twice, Allure once, and Liberty once with access to the CL, and never got much out of it. I travel quite regularly, and as nice as the lounges were, I felt like I was hanging out at an airport lounge. Noting wrong with them, but it honestly felt like the environment where I pass time between flights. And even on Oasis and Allure, way more removed from the water than I tend to care for.

We have only cruised three times, but the last two have been in a GS. One was a B2B. We love the size of the room and that is why we book them. Have another B2B booked for next summer on the Adventure. We really enjoyed the CL. We met many wonderful people and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. The coffee machine was nice too.
