Froggitt Posted October 1, 2014 #27 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Take an afternoon nap on the days you want to absolutely stay up late- I have trouble staying up on a cruise- the nice motion just rocks me to sleep, so I schedule dinner, the show, and whatever is EXCITING (no violin music, thank you) to keep me up and going until whatever party.....:D +1 My normal routine is bed at about 1.30pm. And then bed at 3.30am or whenever the casino kicks me out......after a plate of spicy wings and fries in the Blue Lagoon.
againin13 Posted October 1, 2014 #28 Share Posted October 1, 2014 I don't sleep very much the entire week, usually up at 5 AM with room service and lots of coffee ,and we are usually in the casino until 1,2,3,or 4have been the last to leave a couple of times.on Sea days we will usually nap A couple of hours.i'm retired so I can sleep all I want at home.hey I'm on vacation Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

MrsMcCruise Posted October 1, 2014 #31 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Every vacation we take, the hubs and I say we're going to stay up late and party but every time we end up in bed early! Last cruise, I slept the while time! And we're only in our Thirties!! Ha! My best friend always makes fun of me for napping on vacation!
Theresa522 Posted October 1, 2014 #32 Share Posted October 1, 2014 (edited) Although I would LOVE to stay up late we always end up in our cabin by 10:00 and sleeping by 11. I normally get up at 6am so I am exhausted by the time I get back to the cabin.. Maybe one day we will go crazy and stay out till midnight :D Edited October 1, 2014 by Theresa522
gra2172 Posted October 1, 2014 #33 Share Posted October 1, 2014 I am an early to bed and early to rise. Every time I cruise I have plans to go to all of the parties and live it up for once. But, I never make it because my circadian rhythm dares me to defy it. This time I'm really really really going to AT least go to the glow party and the 80's party. I just wonder how many people are still out enjoying cruise night life when I'm snoring by 11:30PM. What's your bed time when you cruise? Haha, we're the same way! This next cruise, we both want to stay up and see the fireworks from the Getaway, but I just know neither of us will have the energy to stay up that late. We are usually up early enough to see the sunrise, but tend to pass out around 10pm.
jertom Posted October 1, 2014 #34 Share Posted October 1, 2014 When we go to North Myrtle Beach, and go to the dance clubs, we stay up late every night. On a cruise, the music isn't normally that exciting, so we hit the hay around 11-12.... No Shag dancing on cruise ships
kcwingwalker Posted October 1, 2014 #35 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Early to bed and early to rise. Agree 100% with the nap, makes all the difference if you want to do a little late night partying:)
gaiamother Posted October 1, 2014 #36 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Cruising makes me so sleepy. I manage to do a couple of laterish nights, say 11-midnight but mostly I'm so tired after dinner and want to crash. I'm in my early 40's and at home up until 11- midnight every night. I blame to ocean air, lol.
trish1c Posted October 1, 2014 #37 Share Posted October 1, 2014 (edited) I'm usually in bed by 2-3 but DH stays up until 4. I swear one of these cruises I am going to manage to stay up to watch the sunrise. Heaven knows I'm never going to get up to see one. lol Our late night preferences are one of the reasons we like NCL. We felt like they practically rolled up the decks at 11 on Princess. I do warn the cabin steward that we don't care if they don't make up the cabin because DH would rather sleep all day. srlafleur Posted October 1, 2014 #38 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Midnight is a LATE night for us! But, then, we're early risers and usually seem to have early excursions. I just can't justify resetting my inner clock or being exhausted just because I'm on vacation (time zones make it bad enough). Maybe after I've retired and can sleep ~whenever~, that'll change. Back to college-style all-nighters...because I can? Perhaps.:)
Hawaiidan Posted October 1, 2014 #39 Share Posted October 1, 2014 It depended on the night, what we did during the day, and the next day's activities and desired wake-up time for us last week. Some nights we were out by 10 or 10:30, others we stayed up until midnight. Neither of us had any interest in the late night parties, we just enjoyed sitting on our balcony with a book, tea, and each other. And no, we are not 70-somethings. We just act like it sometimes. We like our peace and quiet, both of which we found plenty of during the cruise. Hey, it all goes to why you cruise.... to party and whoop it up or to enjoy the pleasure of ocean travel. In some 30 years of sailing, I have only been to 7 shows, 1 midnight buffets and 3 deck parties..... and zero casinos. We skip the faux ( to us) captains welcome in total.. ( we don't know him and likewise he doesn't know us.. no emotion connection. Really like its a big deal for either of us?) To me all that is fluff and not why I cruise. Then again there are people who are the exact opposite. Shows, bars, pool parties, meet the captain sort of stuff which is cool if that's you want in life. I find the more I cruise the less I want in terms of activities and the more I want in enrichment of the journey and the conversations with fellow like passengers... weltek Posted October 1, 2014 #42 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Depends on the musicians, primarily. If we find one we like, we are often up until well after the set is over. If there's not much engaging me, it's usually in bed around 11:00. On my last cruise, I think my head hit the pillow before 2 a.m. only twice. shealea Posted October 1, 2014 #44 Share Posted October 1, 2014 We get to bed anywhere between 11pm and 2 am. We are in our mid 50s. Some nights we stay up pretty late dancing or watching the other folks dancing in the night club.
SteveH2508 Posted October 1, 2014 #45 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Depends on (in no particular order of preference) 1. Whether the alcohol has won the wake v sleep battle:rolleyes: 2. How mean the casino is being:( 3. What we are doing the next day:cool: 4. How frisky we may be feeling;)

NH Cruisers Posted October 1, 2014 #47 Share Posted October 1, 2014 11 PM, a couple nights maybe after midnight. One night near the last few days I get so tired though, I may be in bed by 9 PM for a night.

medicalma'am Posted October 2, 2014 #49 Share Posted October 2, 2014 I am another one who has plans to stay up late for the parties but the sandman usually gets to me first. Planma'am and I (when cruising together) like to get up early and walk, then meet DHs for breakfast. DH is up with the crack of dawn and goes for a run for 5 miles or so. I did manage to stay up the latest on the Epic this January. There was so much to do and we loved Fat Cat's late at night. I told Screenma'am on that cruise "we're on vacation, you can sleep when we get home!" LOL
