This is Admiral Nelson. Barbados put up a statue of him before England did. He was stationed here for a while, before he sailed off and got himself mortally wounded at the Battle of Trafalgar.

Someone asked about the status of Deck 4. You still can't go out the door. (there IS no door) You can't go all the way around the Promenade Deck.

After our day in Barbados, we had a day at sea. It was a much needed day of rest, after three ports in a row.

It was also the Top Tier event at which I was officially feted as Pinnacle. :)

There were a zillion presentations of crystal blocks.

When you were in Harrison's Cave did they do a segment where they turn off all of the lighting to show you what true darkness looks like? I still remember that vividly.

Carol, lucky you......you got to ride a tram thru the caves. When we were in Bermuda we did 2 caves and we had to walk down and walk up. I did fine in the 1 but the other one had more steps and it was hot in there - had to stop halfway up to rest!! I wouldn't have loved to ride!! LOL

The Bermuda Caves, Crystal and Fantasy, are beautiful but Harrison's is really awesome. Riding the tram is a very different experience from walking.

So, next up was Curaçao. This is a very beautiful island, and I look forward to returning her in just a month. ;)

It was very very very hot. Every island was hot, but Curaçao was just particularly enervating.

When we first ventured forth, the famous Queen Emma pontoon bridge was marked "closed for construction".

This bridge floats on pontoons, and can thus be easily opened and closed to allow ship traffic into and out of the harbor of the city of Willemstad.

We walked to the "FERRY", which is a free water taxi across. It was jam-packed, but quick. I was SO jammed in that I could not take any photos.

The Explorer is too large to fit into the harbor. Later on, the Vision of the Seas "pulled in" to a parking space right in the center of town.
