tpredmore Posted December 11, 2014 #26 Share Posted December 11, 2014 Nothing other than a passenger on the current sailing letting us know that there have been divers under the ship in Aruba or Curacao, can't remember which. Still nothing from Royal Caribbean. And customer service says they have no idea. Where was this info originally posted? Haven't seen that one. kruzerci Posted December 11, 2014 Author #27 Share Posted December 11, 2014 Where was this info originally posted? Haven't seen that one. A few people on our 12/13 roll call are onboard for B2B cruises. One of them posted the information there.
Mass2Cruise Posted December 11, 2014 #28 Share Posted December 11, 2014 We leave on Explorer in one week for a quick 5 night cruise. I just logged into the website to print my SetSail pass and happened to notice our itinerary has changed. It was initially Port Canaveral, CocoCay, Nassau, At Sea, Freeport. It's now changed to a late (7:30 PM) sailaway from Pt. Canaveral, a late arrival to CoCoCay, two full days in Nassau , and Freeport. We've had itineraries butchered because of hurricanes before, no problem whatsoever, but I can't help but feel annoyed at the change from a sea day to two full days in Nassau. I just can't imagine any logical reason for the change exactly a week before the cruise. The weather forecast is perfect, no problems with the ship (that have been posted), etc. It's kind of annoying that they would not even notify passengers of the change. I know itinerary changes are part of cruising and I have never objected before, but there has always been a good reason and plenty of notice in the past. Very frustrated... I was already struggling with the idea of just one sea day! No sunsets at sea this trip, it looks like. Does anybody have any ideas on what could be going on? Guess we will be seeing you from the Quantum on Tuesday as that's when we are scheduled to visit.
cruisegirl1 Posted December 11, 2014 #29 Share Posted December 11, 2014 Only info I have is the person at RCCL I talked to on the phone earlier this week said "I see no change in itinerary." *sigh* My biggest worry was casino, and, I was told while staying overnight at Nassau the casino is open from 7pm to 3am. So, not so bad... But, I'm bummed about the next day not being at sea.... And there better be plenty of bars open on the ship while we're in port as I got the booze package! :) Bars WILL be open. The casino and shops will be closed during the day. They will open about 7 PM. M
Whitnee1 Posted December 11, 2014 #30 Share Posted December 11, 2014 True, however, the Royal Caribbean ships are still fully functional... not leaving passengers stranded. And to my knowledge the Explorers propulsion issues are just speculation at this point. Not true on the repo cruise during the captains corner he confirmed that the propulsion issue is with the shaft on the fixi pod and as such it has been totaly disabled until dry dock. They run now only on the two azupods.
Royal2464 Posted December 11, 2014 #31 Share Posted December 11, 2014 I am currently onboard the Explorer. We are in Labadee today, no new propulsion problems and we are on schedule. The problem with embarkation on the 13th may be because we are returning to a different terminal. I'm not sure of the numbers, but I believe we left from terminal 10 and are returning to terminal 6. Disembarkation will take longer because those who parked at terminal 10 will have to be bussed from terminal 6. The new terminal on the other side of the channel is the cause of the problem. It was supposed to be completed prior to Explorer's rotation to Port Canaveral. The new terminal is not open yet so Explorere has to move from terminal to terminal because of scheduling conflicts with other ships.
marci22 Posted December 11, 2014 #32 Share Posted December 11, 2014 I don't mind where we go as long as I don't have to cook or do the dishes! Why do people say this.
btoneill Posted December 11, 2014 #33 Share Posted December 11, 2014 I'm not sure of the numbers, but I believe we left from terminal 10 and are returning to terminal 6. I just got a text from RCCL that we're leaving from terminal 6 on the 13th and we return to terminal 10 on the 18th....
kruzerci Posted December 13, 2014 Author #34 Share Posted December 13, 2014 It is definitely an engine/propulsion issue. We received a letter at boarding regarding the engine trouble causing us to change our itinerary.
