Charger2008 Posted December 30, 2014 #27 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Receiving disembarkation information in the cabin before the cruise is even half over. It's as if almost as soon as you're onboard, they're already plotting to get rid of you. :( OMG, RIGHT? It seems like from day one they are leaving literature about how to disembark from the ship, bit of a buzz kill :( I was also going to say, only allowing boogie boarding on day one AND only getting two hours for advanced stand up in the mornings. hamrag Posted December 30, 2014 #29 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Listening to all the whingers complaining about the most petty things that have "ruined their cruise", and demeaning staff members.....!
ehfl Posted December 30, 2014 #30 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Other than returning to port :-) Mine is the small circular shower. Yes as a solo I book interior rooms. Coming from an area with hard water and low pressure, I LOVE the showers with their adjustable heads, high pressure, and soft water.
mcd2745 Posted December 30, 2014 #31 Share Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) The final day when everyone is ordered out of their cabin's, buffet is closed and everyone wandering around looking for a place to sit until they are allowed off the ship. Agreed. The way the last morning goes down just seems wrong. After a wonderful, relaxing cruise, the hectic nature of that morning is unfortunate. Probably not feasible, but I would gladly push back the time you can start boarding at the beginning of the cruise if it meant you can get another couple of hours on the back end and allow for a more liesurely disembarkation. kontraxed Posted December 30, 2014 #32 Share Posted December 30, 2014 I've been on five cruises so far with another scheduled in May 2015. There's nothing I hated about any of them. Some points on each were better or worse than other ships or cruises, but overall, I love cruising and that's why I keep coming back. That being said, I'm a big guy and I do dislike those skinny little shower stalls where you can't even bend over to wash your feet. Of course, I can always go to the workout center and use their showers or I just book a mini-suite with the bathtub/shower combo. I think as I become a more experienced cruiser, I find more ways to avoid those things that might irritate me on a cruise. Accentuate the positive! There is always something good about your cruise! crilski Posted December 30, 2014 #34 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Having the misfortune of a table mate that was racist, sexist, condescending, potty mouthed, know-it-all, demeaning to staff, drunk, loud speaking, horses #@(% !!! . . . . by the 3rd night, he spent the rest of the cruise sitting alone at a table for 8. The entire table was able to escape with the more than helpful dining staff! They felt our pain, and we felt theirs!
SSVacation Posted December 30, 2014 #35 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Getting the sea pass bill on the last morning  kinda Ironic, the higher the bill generally means a great cruise :D
DonnaK Posted December 30, 2014 #36 Share Posted December 30, 2014 After returning from Quantum, I strongly feel that Dynamic Dining was the worst thing ever. The restaurants are beautifully decorated, but the menus in the complementary venues are too limited for repeated visits throughout a cruise, and service was not up to RCI (or any cruiseline's) standards. karena1 Posted December 30, 2014 #37 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Other than returning to port :-) Mine is the small circular shower. Yes as a solo I book interior rooms. Doesn't matter if you have inside or not, the showers are SMALL!!! I have learned to work around it. Nothing makes a bad cruise - someone is waiting on me, making my bed and taking care of me. Podie Posted December 30, 2014 #38 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Since you asked, as a non-smoker the worst part of the cruise for me is the prevalence of smoke indoors, usually in the casino. Since RCI went to their new smoking policy, the casino is now used as an indoor smoking area (which I do understand). Unfortunately the smoke doesn't "stay" in the area and seeps out into the neighboring areas of the ship - into the Centrum on Radiance class and up the casino stairs into part of the Royal Promenade on Voyager class. The outdoor smoking areas do not bother me.. Absolutely agree! When I'm on Celebrity, where no smoking is allowed in the casino, I drop a few hundred dollars on blackjack and the slots. On Royal I can't be within 50 yards of the casino because it smells so horrible.

Redgrove Posted December 30, 2014 #42 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Well you wouldn't think people take trivia so seriously but there are some frequent cruisers that have been known to keep their answer sheets. I think the staff have caught on though and vary their questions rather than use the corporate office ones. There are some smart phone offenders and others that want to win so bad that they have extra people sit in etc.
DirtyDawg Posted December 30, 2014 #43 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Having the Caribbean salt water play havoc with my clothes. It seems they start to get tighter as the cruise goes on:eek:. But alas.................... On our last cruise we walked the trak twice a day for 2 miles and stayed indoors using the gym and this must have cut down on the shrinkage:D. Amazing. Sea Ya Brilliant!:D Thanks for the chuckle.

Paulette3028 Posted December 31, 2014 #47 Share Posted December 31, 2014 We were on Allure last summer and had arranged to have dinner with a couple we had met on our Roll Call. Dinner was great getting to meet them and the other couple who was sitting at our table, that was set up for 8 people -- but only the 6 of us showed up that first night. At the end of dinner, after we are having dessert and coffee the waiter brings over a cake with candles to sing Happy Birthday to the wife of the couple who are our friends. All is fine, but since we had all eaten dessert already, Dave (DH) asks not to cut the cake then, just bring it back tomorrow night and we will have it for dessert then. (Please note -- no one looks at the name written on the cake.) Waiter says fine. As waiter leaves, Dave comments that he ordered a cake but for Tuesday night because Tuesday was actually Denise's birthday -- but it did not matter that they brought it on the wrong night; all was good. Now fast forward to the next night.....we all have dinner, and the waiter brings out the cake and when they look at the writing on the cake it isn't for Denise (who is at our table), it had someone else's name on it. Now remember Dave did order a cake, so he did not make a fuss about it. Dave just thought they screwed up the name on the cake....it became a joke, because we kept called Denise by the name on the cake. But what happened next was the sad part. The Maitr'D comes over the next night (now Tuesday evening) to berate Dave and Denise for accepting a cake that wasn't theirs....and then turned on the waiter for making the mistake of 'allowing them to keep the cake that wasn't theirs'. But Dave did order a cake and paid for a cake.....we the cruisers were enjoying some fun with the mix up in the names and no one was angry at the waiter, except the Maitr'D. Dave was angry at the MaitrD for making such a fuss over it, and what we learned later was that the MaitrD is actually responsible for specialty cakes being delivered to tables -- NOT the waiters themselves -- they just deliver what arrives for the designated table. MSN-Travelers Posted December 31, 2014 #49 Share Posted December 31, 2014 They’re nothing more than minor annoyances but they seem to affect everybody: Chair hogs . . . The people up at the crack of dawn that dump their crap on a lounger (day after day) and don’t return until sometime in the afternoon. Or worse, pick up their stuff six hours later and just walk away without using the loungers at all. Casino smoke . . . As others have indicated, the casino has become the indoor smoke shack and the odors billow out into surrounding spaces. The cruise lines should install an air exchange system that can scrub the smoke. Princess specific . . . The Anytime Dining system used to work quite well when it was rolled out and was first come, first serve. Over time they started taking reservations and that lead to tables sitting idle while people waited at the door. Over time they let Traditional diners routinely crash the ATD room and that lead to extended wait times and empty tables in the Traditional MDR’s. jbooth2099 Posted December 31, 2014 #50 Share Posted December 31, 2014 Having to search out a particular spot to smoke is a real PITA. Next cruise will be the first since they outlawed smoking on the balcony. Suspect this will be a challenge. JB
