FiggyWig Posted February 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2015 I'm aware that the town of Bruge is a bit of a journey from the port. We don't plan on doing a ships excursion, but does any one know if P&O (Oceana) provide a shuttle bus from the port directly into town (or as near as possible)? And if so - any idea on costs ? Thanks Fig
PurpleMoonlight Posted February 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) The only time I have been there, 14 months ago, there was a shuttle to Blankenberge which dropped you near the train station. Rare Presto2 Posted February 22, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2015 Have mentioned before that in the past we have been to Ghent rather than Bruges. It is a stunning little town and is well worth a visit for somewhere different if there is an excursion. :)

Thanks Fig The standard practice is to get the shuttle to Blankenburg station and get the train to Bruges. There is however a walk of about 20 mins at the other end to get to the centre. Josy1953 Posted February 22, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 22, 2015 As other people have said there is a shuttle to Blankenberg which is a small seaside town that is very pleasant to walk around if you don't feel like going on the train to Bruges or Ghent. The shuttle is free, when we were in Zebrugge in December we took the train to Bruges it was 6 euros each return and took about 20 minutes. BrianI Posted February 22, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 22, 2015 The shuttle bus at Zeebrugge to Blankenberge is free even for saver fares as you are not allowed to walk in the port area. The train to Bruges runs every hour. Brian

If you use P&O shuttle bus to Blankenberge unless you have booked a Select fare then there is a charge.

Floflegs Posted February 22, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 22, 2015 We shared a taxi from port gate which took us into the centre of Bruges and came back for us.
Scriv Posted February 23, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 23, 2015 (edited) Just confirming there is no charge to anybody for P&O's shuttle bus to Blankenberge - unless it's changed since December. Edited February 23, 2015 by Scriv

leesam Posted February 23, 2015 #14 Share Posted February 23, 2015 As mentioned previously you can get the free bus to the port gate where, there are a line of taxis, they will take you to the centre in market square (approx. 20mins) then you can arrange a pick up time for the return journey, you can also take their phone number just in case there is a problem. The cost of the taxi is fixed at €50 each way.
Floflegs Posted February 24, 2015 #15 Share Posted February 24, 2015 As mentioned the taxi is €50 each way but if you get a large taxi and share it us very reasonable as it us the same price irrespective of size of taxi, At least it was for us.
