I notice there are quite a few commenters from Tampa and the surrounding area (me too, hi!). Is that there anything we can do to help?

Eight phone lines for 2,500 passengers has to be a challenge. I'd be happy to offer my email address if anyone wants contact me and have me make phone calls to hotels, family, etc on their behalf.

Wow, that is incredibly nice of you. I don't need your help, I'm at home just reading along, but want to say how very kind of you.

Yes very kind. I will let people know if I hear of anyone needing that kind of assistance. Most have email out it is just the need for phone lines with the airlines, etc.

I am about 150 miles north of where the ship is.

I went out to ride my bike before the predicted front makes it way through the area with rain.

The good news is front edge (wind, no rain) of the front is just passing now. Bad news is that the visibility has dropped from the 10 miles of this morning to less then a mile.

So the visibility may drop as the front comes through before it gets better.

Is the laundry service available? I'm sure by now people are running out of clean clothes.

I don't know but yes it is becoming an issue. Most people around here on deck are in their same winter clothes now for 2 days.

Silly question that is really irrelevant, but I was just wondering.

I read early in this post that casinos and shops are closed. At what point do they have to close them? Would it have been feasible to sail out far enough to reopen them?

Please don't criticize me if this is a stupid question. I have always wondered when shops and casinos had to close.

THANKS!

I work in Palmetto on overnights, and it's like pea soup out there right now. Hopefully they can get her into port today sometime.......

Meanwhile - this happened in the bay last night.....it could be worse!

"Ruskin, Florida -- One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after the boat they were on crashed into a waterfront restaurant on Bahia Beach Monday afternoon.

The driver of the 39-foot Sea Vee said he didn't see Sunset Grill at Little Harbor at 611 Destiny Drive due to the sea fog.

The driver of the boat said he didn't see Sunset Grill at Little Harbor, located at 611 Destiny Drive, due to the sea fog.

FWC says there were seven people on the boat at the time of the crash. One person suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. No one in the restaurant was injured.

Due to the lack of structural integrity, the building was turned over to Hillsborough County Code Enforcement.

No further information has been released at this time."

The Sea Vee story was on the A.M. Local news (KMOV) this morning! The story was compelling because the Midwest has been enduring some very cold temperatures. Good luck everyone on the BOS.

Will keep all this in mind for when we sail out of Tampa again in April.

You probably won't have problems with fog in April. It typically happens in the winter months when warm air flows over cold water. Unfortunately, we just had a few days of very cold (for us) weather which dropped the water temperatures down. Then warm air came in and calm winds so there's nothing to blow the fog apart. I don't remember it ever lasting this long before!

By April, the Gulf water is warmed up so we shouldn't have this kind of sea fog.

They can only open in International waters usually 3 miles.

View of Port Tampa right now. Looks all clear.

I heard the tail end of a message embedded in there from the coast guard? All zones 1-7 are still closed....so that doesn't sound like anything has changed.

So many times the fog stays just off shore so what we see here on land doesn't matter too much :(

For all of those people on Cruise Critic who see no value or use in a Travel Agent and ONLY book them for the perks, this is exactly the kind of thing an agent would be doing for their client(s). Calling hotels, family, rebooking flights etc.

This has much more value to many than some onboard credit, a bottle of wine or being in "control of their reservation.":rolleyes::rolleyes:

Urban Meyer is stuck on the boat. So fans of other schools can breathe well. Your recruits are safe for at least another day. ;) Just kidding.

Now if we could just manage to keep him there until after the Michigan - Ohio game :D

Just kidding of course. He is a class act!

GO BLUE!!!!

It's gray here in Clearwater but I think it is clouds from the approaching front and not fog. Let's hope this front will blow the fog away quickly!

What a nightmare for everyone - the people on the ship, the people waiting to get on and all the staff.

Yep often think I would like an extra day on the ship but not like this:(

Delay - Brilliance of the Seas

February 24, 2015

12:00 p.m. E.S.T

Unfortunately, not much has changed since our last update. Because of the dense fog, there is still a Coast Guard advisory and the Port of Tampa is currently closed. We still do not have an exact time when Brilliance of the Seas will arrive to Tampa, since this will depend on when the fog conditions improve and the local authorities allow the ship to travel to the port.

We ask that guests scheduled to sail on Brilliance of the Seas not travel to port until we are ready to begin check in and boarding. We will be providing regular updates on our website – http://www.royalcaribbean.com – as well as through e-mails and text messages.

Royal Caribbean will continue to closely monitor weather conditions in Tampa and will update this information again at 2:00 p.m.
