poffles Posted March 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Where can you smoke on the Reflection? Is this allowed in the bar at back of the ship? I ask this most specifically because this seems to vary by ship and also seems they may have more recently eliminated this area as being allowed. No flaming as I would be quite fine if the ship was entirely non smoking, I'm asking for someone else as I do not smoke (quit many many many years ago). This will be their first cruise ever and as smokers they are mentally preparing for what they will face in this regard. As for me, after experiencing the extremely smoky main areas of the NCL Epic and the casino that ran down the inside centre of the ship, I thoroughly enjoyed the lack of smoke on my recent Summit cruise in December. It was definitely allowed on that Summit sailing in the back of Oceanview then (outside) as there were ashtrays on the tables. I since read more recent passengers saying this is no longer allowed and wonder if this will be the same on the Reflection. They will find out for themselves for sure when they get on the ship but figured I'd throw the question out there to at least give them an idea of what they might expect. upwarduk Posted March 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Not yet been on Reflection, but I understood that smoking was allowed on the port side of the Sunset bar. Also on rear port side of deck 5, which I took into consideration when booking my cabin on Eclipse, deck 6 ( I therefore choose starboard)
thon Posted March 17, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Just got off Reflection Saturday. The only 2 places I noticed people smoking was port side of the Sunset Bar (Deck 15) and the Mast Bar (also Deck 15). One day at the Sunset, a gentleman started smoking more in the middle of the bar area, albeit right at the rear, and one of the waiters immediately told him that he had to move further away to the designated smoking area. Don`t know about anywhere on deck 5 as we never went outside there.

Algebralovr Posted March 17, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Deck 5 -port side (odd numbered staterooms), Deck 14 -starboard side at mast bar (grill with burgers is on port side), deck 15 - sunset bar port side. Fairly easy to avoid for non-smokers
helen haywood Posted March 17, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2015 And if you are talking about cigars, they are only allowed to be smoked at the Sunset Bar on Deck 15 port side. The tables that allow smoking will have big blue ashtrays on them.

Fairly easy to avoid for non-smokers I'm pretty sure the Mast bar is on deck 15, on the starboard side as you say. I also think smoking is allowed on deck 14 on the port side of the pool area. poffles Posted March 17, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted March 17, 2015 Thanks everyone. Sounds like they will be able to smoke at at least one place other than deck 5.

Rare ORV Posted March 17, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) No Mast bar is on deck 15, sunset bar is also on 15. No smoking on pool deck Yes, I said Mast bar is on 15, the poster I was quoting said 14. Read my post again. There was smoking on the pool deck, 12, port side, when we were on Equinox in Jan. I'm almost sure of it. After looking into this apparently the decks are different on Reflection from the other ships. But I did find this for other S Class ships, which allow smoking on the Pool Deck, Smoking areas on S-class ships (Solstice, Equinox, Eclipse & Silhouette) include the following locations: Deck 12 (Pool Deck) – Port (left)-side only – outside just forward of the mid-ship elevators Deck 14 (Sun Deck forward/mid-ship) – Starboard (right)-side only – outside at the Mast Bar Deck 15 (Lawn Club Deck aft) – Port- (left) side only – outside at the Sunset Bar – This is the area where Cigar & Pipe smoking is permitted. Deck 5 (Entertainment Deck mid-ship) – Port (left)-side only – outside of the mid-ship elevators Deck 5 (Entertainment Deck forward) – Port (left)-side only – outside of the forward elevators/Theatre Edited March 17, 2015 by ORV

This is almost correct, but they got rid of the smoking on the pool deck listed here. The complaints were that the overhang was trapping the smoke. When the wind is strong, they have been known to close the deck 5 areas. If they are refueling they also close the deck 5 areas.

I've been complaining about the smoking on the pool deck every time I'm on board. On Reflection, with a strong wind on several days, when the automatic doors opened, the smoke back aft on the pool deck will draft into the buffet area, and on some ships with the smoking area on the pool deck up forward will draft into the solarium.
