dkjretired Posted April 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Have we make a mistake to take the cruise before the Solstice goes into dry dock in 2016? Pam Do not believe any drydock has been announced for Solstice. The various websites that say ships are going into drydock are not real accurate as well as the rumor mill on board ships. Grandmaanne7 Posted April 4, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2015 We did a cruise on Century just before it went into drydock and had no issues whatsoever.
Rare ghstudio Posted April 4, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Have we make a mistake to take the cruise before the Solstice goes into dry dock in 2016? Pam not sure if you actually have a cruise before a drydock or before a charter...but in answer to your general question about cruises before drydock....it varies, but there is a risk that they will start to get ready for drydock during your cruise...closing off some areas, turning off some pools and similar. Generally, it's noticeable, but doesn't really inconvenience anyone....it's well managed.
CRUZBUDS Posted April 4, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2015 The much higher risk is the first cruise after a dry dock. The work is often not finished. :)

TeaBag Posted April 4, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2015 We sailed Constellation before drydock and it was great. The first cruise after dry dock had Noro, as did many more after that.
vivi9909 Posted April 4, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) We sailed on the Equinox TA last spring just before it went to a dry dock in Cadix. The consequences were minimal and didn't affect significantly our cruise: 1- The TA finished in Malaga rather than Barcelona as it normally does but we new it when we booked the cruise, many months before it. 2- We saw 2 or 3 piles of plywood panels in some corners of deck 14. 3- They started to remove the ceiling of the pool deck to install new cables during the last day of the cruise. Nothing that prevented us to have access to any of the main public areas. Enjoy your cruise! Edited April 4, 2015 by vivi9909
