yet another drink package question

Recommended Posts

If anyone did not purchase the drink package, could you tell me what you ended up spending on alcohol?

My husband and I are moderate drinkers but are traveling with a group of friends. I'm sure moderate may be a conservative estimate on this cruise. :D We are planning to get the drink package but have 3 days in port and are not sure if, in the end we will drink enough to make it worth it even if we include bottled water.

Friends of ours (they are coming with us) went on a 5 day cruise last year and their bar bill, no package was about $1000. That's a lot of money! In this case, the drink package would have been well worth it.

Thanks

I just posted my feedback about the Royal Replenish package as a virtual non-drinker. Got home last night! It was a great value.

It IS a great value for a non-drinker. Two or three alcoholic drinks ON TOP OF THIS would make an alcohol package more of value. I decided on two of my three upcoming cruises with only 2-3 sea days, the alcohol package isn't worth it-- I got replenish (especially since people are saying you can't even taste the alcohol in the frozen drinks). On Anthem, I'm unlikely to even get off the ship-- going with ultimate. No question.

I've never had a bar bill under $1000 on a 5nt or longer cruise. But we haven't cruised for 5yrs, so with the current prices I'd hate to think what our bill would be. We just took advantage of the B.O.G.O. drink package so we will break even by the 3rd day.

Hi all,

I'm purchasing the "select" package because I drink more beer than mixed drinks. My question is, if I buy a mixed drink, will I pay the difference between the two, since I paid for a package? example: beer $7.50 & mixed drink $12 = difference of $4.50

Thanks for any info

Heather

If you purchase the Select package, you get zero credit towards mixed drinks. The only credit you get fom the Select package is towards a glass of wine more expensive than $8.

What ports are you going to labadee coco cay? If so you can use the package there. It's well worth the price for myself and my wife and we are also moderate drinkers at home.

We will be on Labadee on May 13th and two days cruising before returning home. What would be the minimum days needed if I wait to see what I will be drinking? I've read that you need to have at least 4 days left on cruise in order to purchase.

If you you plan on having more than 5-6 drinks a day then you are better off with the package. 5-6 drinks is a very easy number when your on vacation for anybody that drinks. You might have a fruity drink or beer early in the day or in the mood for a Bloody Mary. Then a drink or 2 before dinner...glass of wine at dinner then probably a drink or 2 at the show or casino whatever you do to spend your evening. Our last 2 cruises we had the package but really debating on our upcoming Alaska cruise if we will do it. Alaska is different cruising ...no laying out by the pool having beers ...it's port intensive so this trip it may not be worth it us but I love the idea of the ultimate which includes the good coffees and fresh orange juice because I don't normally spend the money on those things.

No. We're going to Bermuda. The fist day we get in late and the last day we leave around dinner so it's only 1 full day we will be off the ship. I'm thinking it will be worth it on the sea days for sure!

I chose to do the replenish for port intensive cruises-- it's much less expensive (obviously) with no alcohol and I can get a virgin piña colada, as well as coffees, waters, and sodas. I figured 1 alcoholic drink per day would be also figured in, but with so many port intensive days, I didn't think it was worth it to pay over $400.

Thank you ...I hadn't thought of that but was just reading somebody else's review of that package ..I just looked it up and for our cruise it's $154 pp for the week.

I was thinking of the "select" just to have and maybe upgrading to the "premium" after a few days (to test the waters). I also have access to the concierge lounge, but I've heard that it is usually packed with no seats and not worth it.

If you're going to Bermuda with friends, get the package. I am a moderate drinker, but when Im with the gang I will imbide a little more. If you have the package you won't worry about how much you're spending, you can enjoy. We're planning Bermuda this fall & I'll order the packages and prepay them. To me it's one less thing to worry about post cruise. We should have at least one other couple joining us, we like to play cards and it's easy to sit there and drink several while playing.

Drinks by the pool during the day, one to take back to cabin getting ready for dinner, one while waiting for dinner/at dinner, in the evening? That is easily 5-6 drinks for me.

Especially if my dh and I were going with our friends.

We are 48 and 50 and getting the package.

For the Premium and Ultimate package, all drinks under what amount are included?

Thank you.

The limit is $12 for cocktails and glasses of wine. Beers are not specified with any monetary limits.

Last two cruises we did not get the drink package. We did Oasis on both Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. 7 day cruises with three ports of call. We are not heavy drinkers but had an $800 bar tab on the first one and about $600 on the second. So about equal to buying the drink package. If you are thirsty or traveling with a group of friends, the package would be a great deal. Basically a few beers in the afternoon and couple cocktails at a show and you are there.

Yes-- as long as you have 4 days remaining on the ship.

Im on a five night cruise and would like to get as soon as I board to purchase the drink package so I can use my OBC. Where exactly do I need to go on Independence to purchase the package.

Thank you.

Thank you.

There will be crewmembers on the Royal Promenade selling the beverage packages.
