Royal wont honor price!😠

Recommended Posts

They advertise a guarantee for $239 pp But a SINGLE crusher can't get

This price. Can someone Please tell me Why?

Let me start by saying that we have cruised many times with RC, I even have

A next cruise booking with them which After last night I will most likely book

Something and cancel so I can get my money back. 😮

I called to book a guarantee on the Majesty of the Sea on the 18th of May price was 239 pp plus tax an port fee of course which was 98 I knew I would have to pay Double occupancy rate an port fee an tax for one as I have done this many

Times We are D+ But the agent insisted the rate was different for a single

Cruiser wanted to charge me 708 for a cabin that 2 people could have got for

675. I figured 239 x2 was 478 plus tax port fee of 98 would be 576 ,which I was willing to pay for one . I was on the phone over a hour an he kept going back an forth then

I ask for someone else the tell me that's new policy! Well if your a single cruiser

Your basicly screwed , this is just so wrong.

What a way to treat your return customers, this is one that won't be returning !:mad::mad:

The promo is for double occupancy only and it says so in the t&c. The price you would pay as a solo is 319.00, clearly stated:rolleyes: If you want the lower price get someone to share the cabin

*Prices are average per person, cruise only, based on double occupancy, reflect promotional savings (if any), for new individual bookings, are subject to change and availability.

Taxes, fees and port expenses are subject to change.

Additional terms and conditions apply to offers; click on the respective link for offer details.

So just book yourself and a fictional person in the cabin and have the fictional person not show up on boarding day. Taxes will be refunded.

When I mentioned that to the guy he said that it would cause me problems

At check in an could be penalized, but not sure for what.

They don't require cabin mates to check-in together, so I don't understand what could happen.

Less occupants = less onboard Revenue.

Doesn´t matter anyway, as OP already made their choice to rant here and then walk away from RCI.

Bye bye and Happy cruising:)

You must work for Royal. LOL

This is what what this site is for to let people know the Good and the Bad that

Happens. And you can't say less Revenue you don't know anything about me,

The fact that I usually donate a couple grand to their casino every cruise hardly makes for less revenue, i could go on but not going to get in a bashing match.

It's the principle of the thing they should not charge one person more than they would 2 that's messed up. An I'm not one to post an run away! Been here a long time.

My mom cruises solo all the time. She booked during a WOW sale last year for a cruise this year. She got the 50% off second person (which meant she paid 1.50% vs 200% solo rate without the BOGO), she only paid 1 set of taxes and fees plus got the $200 per cabin OBC. She booked for 2016 during another BOGO promotion and got the same deal except without the $200 OBC.

I just did a quick look at the pricing for that sailing on Royal's website. I assume you are looking at an inside guarantee. The cheapest category is Z, which is only available for two people. If you do a search the inside guarantee categories for two are L,Q,Z for one you just get L,Q. So what happened is you were probably given the price for category Q, and the price you saw was for category Z, which is not available to solos.

I have two upcoming solo cruises on Z category. Call and do it on the phone.

Read the *....prices are based on DOUBLE occupancy! Everything about pricing says that! I don't know why folks get so upset about this! ON everything it states the price of a cabin is for 2 people.

Perhaps the cruise lines should simply state that the price of a cabin is, say $500, for UP TO 2 PEOPLE!!!

And yet, if you call, they will adjust the price.

So you are happy to spend $2000 in the casino but quibble over $132?

I have sailed solo on RCI 10 times, and have 5 more booked. Including 4 on Anthem. I have never paid over what 2 persons have paid, and most times pay 175%. This includes my cruises on Anthem. They do reduce my diamond balcony discount to reflect the cost which is lower than 200%. I sail in balcony or Junior Suites, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Example of some of my cruises booked.

January 15, 2016 D7 solo 2355.46 2 persons 3236.92

March 7, 2016 D6 solo 2843.18 2 persons 3922.36

October 20, 2016 D1 solo 2693.02 2 persons 2885.04 (same as 2 persons less tax port charges)

I have cruised approximately 40 times or so, and I TOTOLLY understand the fact that it is double occupancy, but what No one is seeming to understand is that the RC phone Agent would not let me book the guarantee for the advertised price wanted me to pay more that what they were charging 2 cruisers😠so yea I guess that does up set me just a little. Read my post, want me to pay 708 an 2 people can go for 675. How does this seem right?

It's the principle of it! That all , a single cruiser already gets the shaft by having to pay the double occupancy price , they should NOT have to PAY more than the double.

And of course this is my opinion an I'm not even the one going just was doing the booking LOL.

I would call and get a different agent. I booked a solo with an RCI agent and he told me that I was the highest point person he had ever dealt with. He was so excited, then he told me that I was almost Pinnacle at 500. I told him "no, Pinnacle is at 700". He had to put me on hold to go check to find out who was right. What a dork. So perhaps you got an agent that was new and didn't know squat. Call back and try again.

Call back and get a different agent. You may get a different answer. This happened to me awhile back, and a different agent got it straightened out. There is no reason for you to pay more than 2 persons in a cabin.

cancel and rebook with fictitious 2nd person. when you check in let them know you travel mate canceled last minute if they ask.

This could be more of an issue-- I would not let it get this far. Do I need to say again to call??? They will honor the price. I've got two cruises booked under Z category, neither of which was available on the website to single cruisers. But I now have confirmed prices. Not difficult. (You do need to call during regular business hours Mon-Friday)

Not sure either this was going to be a last minute booking, we normally sail together , and haven't had this problem, I just don't think it's fair for anyone sailing solo to pay more than what they would charge 2 people.

I think RC has every right to do what they are doing. They were running a special that was limited to double occupancy only. You are asking them to change the rules of their special pricing just for you. It is like a tire store that offers a sales price but only if you buy four tires and you are asking for the same pricing for only two tires. While it may not seem fair to you, it is the promotion they are offering, though not the one you wish they would offer.
