denmarks Posted June 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2015 (edited) There are no tender ports on your cruise to Alaska. I have never seen a tender port in Alaska. Edited June 6, 2015 by denmarks
Cruisin' Chick Posted June 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2015 Any tendered ports should be listed on your itinerary. It would help to list which ports you're visiting so those here can answer your question.
Cruisin' Chick Posted June 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 6, 2015 There are no tender ports on your cruise to Alaska. I have never seen a tender port in Alaska. The route schedule on the Princess site will always indicate a tender port. On my Alaskan cruise, we did have a port that we tendered into. Rare Essiesmom Posted June 6, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2015 Your itinerary from Princess should tell you if you have to tender. EM
Parvatiiv Posted June 6, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 6, 2015 (edited) Tendering will depend on the number of ships in port and when you arrive in port. Ships have had to tender in Ketchikan, Skagway, and Juneau based on capacity. I know Princess rarely has to tender but it does happen. See your own itinerary and do a search of what the port's schedule is that day too so see who else will be there and their scheduled times. This is always subject to change. julie3fan Posted June 6, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 6, 2015 Last year we tendered at Ketchikan, as there were 5 ships and only 4 docks. This year we get to dock!

Eaglecw Posted June 6, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 6, 2015 Here’s a link to the berthing schedule for all the Alaskan Ports http://claalaska.com/?page_id=318 click on the Port that you’re going to be in and you can find the date you’re going to be in that Port and you can see where your ship is going to berth on that day. BruceMuzz Posted June 6, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 6, 2015 There are no tender ports on your cruise to Alaska. I have never seen a tender port in Alaska. Even after Sitka finally built a pier, most ships still tender there. Icy Strait Point is always a tender port. As the others have pointed out, when ports get congested at high season, just about any Alaska port will have one or more ships tendering.

Rare Kinkacruiser Posted June 6, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 6, 2015 There are no tender ports on your cruise to Alaska. I have never seen a tender port in Alaska. We tendered into Ketchikan as there were 4 other ships due in that day.
Putterdude Posted June 6, 2015 #16 Share Posted June 6, 2015 We have tendered in Ketchikan but not for some years now. There are some dates in Ketchikan where the Golden will tender but not on July 14th, she will be using pier #3.
peety3 Posted June 7, 2015 #17 Share Posted June 7, 2015 7/14 Ketchikan dock 3 (you should celebrate not being at dock 4...) 7/15 Juneau "AMP" - Anchor Marine Park. So it looks like you'll be tendering in Juneau. 7/16 Skagway RRA - Railroad Aft. Railroad forward would be closer, but RRA isn't bad IMHO.
Putterdude Posted June 7, 2015 #18 Share Posted June 7, 2015 I rather like the railway dock aft as I can see all the names of ships painted on the shale wall. There is a lot of history there including the ship I crewed on 50 years ago and the captain I sailed under.
donaldsc Posted June 7, 2015 #19 Share Posted June 7, 2015 The way you usually find out about details on your ports is to look at your cruise documents or to call the cruise company. The documents will indicate if you tender, DON

Things change once onboard so the Princess reps may not have good info either. Edited June 7, 2015 by Colo Cruiser
