TC ... Have not seen anything video wise other than what is available via MSC.

Happy ... Yes its good to see some detail at last on the deck plans though Deck 19 still evades everyone.

RL ... The only thing to see currently inside is construction works, cabins are being put in but they are sealed so no one has access once installed, which is understandable.

There will be changes made I have no doubt as they go along so final deck plans may be some months off.

Sidari - Thanks for your feedback. There is still a lot of info/detail that is still not available especially with many of the different cabin types and the actual floor plans. I know those folks that have the aft Aurea Suites as well as those who have a GS Suite on Port and Starboard side want to see and know more.

I have looked at several photos of the bow and front facing cabins and wondered why some don't appear to have a window or porthole. Someone on the boards mentioned recently after seeing the photo with the "smile" from MSC Fans site, why they would wait until now to cut out some sections of the steel. If you take a closer look at the image (and many others from Google Images) you will notice that most of the front is covered with some white/off-white material. Looks like it's not painted and rusty, right? The same type material was used with Meraviglia (notice the frosted glass on Meraviglia that looks like metal from a distance). So behind this material could be the openings or portholes. Most renderings show a dark glass section for the front facing cabins. Like Meraviglia they will probably use a darker version of that frosted glass to outline the "smile" section. Maybe it's not frosted glass but some other material to block the wind.

So I was looking at the Suites only availability on the dates I was interested in are on deck 9, not the 2 aft ones. SO the suites are basically the same size as the non-suites except for the bigger balcony? Is it really worth paying a premium just to have a bigger balcony where someone can look down on you?

When i was doing the mock bookings to get those screenshots earlier, if i put in 4 guests, it only showed me aft suites. If I put in 2 or 3 guests, it only gave me the deck 9 suites with the larger balconies, but not the aft suites. I thought that was weird.

I'm not sure i would pay that much more just for the larger balcony, but there are plenty of people that will.

Hi TC ... There are Inside cabins within the area you mention which is Deck 10 and are the Wellness Inside cabins, no`s 10002/3.

With the protective coverings over the front we will have to wait to see if they change the two Wellness cabins to Outsides with a Porthole window or even a balcony.

The centre Suites on 11 to 14 have a small cubicle added to them at the front as per the renderings and cabin layouts. Think I saw a forward facing picture of Meraviglia that has them.

I would hazard a guess that the front of the ship will not have what appears to be a dark glass cover on it and that it was merely for looks but we will again have to wait and see. There is still quite a way to go in the build process.

BosJoe ... The sizes on the deck plans are usually generic and show all the balcony cabins as the same size, although the cabin descriptions on the UK MSC site show Aurea Suites as 28 to 33 Sq Metres (possibly 28 for Deck 9 and 33 for the Aft suites)

Balconies are shown as 14 Sq Metres although the Forward Deck 9 balconies are larger than a standard one.

As for the rear Deck 9 Suites with the long balconies they will have a partial cover for shade which extends out from the ship while the rest of the balcony will be open.

As OG says people are paying for the longer balconies and many are not bothered by people looking down to where they are.

Just as a random thought on the Seaside. It looks as if they are going to do a really good job spreading the passengers out. 3 main pools all on different decks and a waterpark. The Promenade will keep some people down on 8...This was the case on the NCL Getaway which has a similar feature. Also it looks as if there are buffet restaurants on 16 and 8. That should be great during Breakfast and Lunch when buffets can get really crowded. I know it's big and will have a lot of passengers but the use of space and the 8 to 16 express elevators between the pools should move people around well and keep them spread out. Going in March '18. Can't wait!

Sidari - Thanks again. Indeed we will have to wait and see what things will look like. Hopefully it will be soon with some good surprises.

I think that was me, and I later figured out (believe?) that what I thought was a balcony cut out, or maybe dark glass forward walls on those cabins (wouldn't that be cool?) is most likely just the bulkhead painted in MSC-blue.

When you look closely at the model photos, you can see what appear to be portholes looking within the dark blue section.

Mike ... You may well be right, I have just zoomed in on the photo stored on my pc and those Blue circles could well be porthole windows behind a smoked glass screen.

Notice that they all run in line vertical, as time moves on we will know if that is what they are.

I have some info for everyone. It is thanks to FB and MSC fans page. I think it is Kevins page.

MSC unveils the restaurants, lounge, pools and activities name launching an updated deck plans on official web-site.

The two main restaurants on decks 5 Cape Cod and 6 Copacabana will be named Seashore Restaurant and Ipanema Restaurant. The stunning two-deck long (6 Copacabana and 7 Miami Beach) high-tech theatre will be named Metropolitan Theatre. On deck 6 Piazza Grande will be the MSC Seaside?s shops area focal point with boutique, accessories, jewellery, perfumes and cosmetics, duty free and Venchi Chocolate Factory, Ice-cream and Coffee Bar. To the lower aft pool on deck 7 will be given the name South Beach Pool with the near South Beach Bar. On the same deck we can find Drive in Club, Heaven Lounge, the Champagne Bar in front of the Atrium wall and finally the Miami Casino. The casino will be connected to the Piazza Grande on deck 6 and to The Piazza on deck 8 Pink Sands through a staircase creating a kind of second three-decks atrium. Around The Piazza we can find the Sports Bar, Broadcasting Room and News & Comedy Bar. Complete deck?s interior space the main buffet Marketplace, AUREA Spa and the MSC Gym by Technogym. But the most important feature on deck 8 will be the outdoor Waterfront Promenade and the Infinity Bridge on the sea.

Upper aft pool on deck 16 Siesta Beach will be named Panorama Pool and to near suspended passage on the lower pool will be given the name of Bridge of Sighs. On the same deck we can find the dedicated family buffet Colonial as well as the special restaurant like Ocean Cay Restaurant, Butcher?s Cut, L?Enoteca Wine Bar, Teppanyaki Restaurant, Pan Asian Restaurant and the Sushi Bar. On deck 18 Playa Paraiso there will be the Forest Aquaventure and Adventure Park, the Baby, Mini, Junior, Teen and Young Clubs and the indoor pool Jungle Pool with the Jungle Bar and the Magrodome Area.

Hope everyone has a great day,

Gerry

Hey Mike - Thanks. I think we are now all thinking along the same lines as what the front may look like. And yes it would be be cool if all those had a rap-around balcony. Maybe this week or next we could see updated photos from MSC Fans. I haven't seen any updates for the month of February.

Hi Sidari,

Thank you, I rather have a bigger room then the bigger balcony or both bigger room and balcony. The deck 9 suites are the basically the same room size without balcony as other balcony room. I don't know what the Suite title brings. Is the suite size worth $200pp for a bigger balcony on deck 9 no, but the aft balcony, yes. I am going to try and get the aft balcony which are available if you book for 4 people on the website.

RL ... The staircase is now an MSC feature so I would be surprised if they did not have them on Seaside.

BosJoe ... I cannot see the Deck 9 side suites being the same size cabin as a standard balcony, it would then only be a balcony cabin and not a suite! We will have to wait until MSC believe that we are worthy of knowing the actual sizes rather than a guestimate of what they are.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. It appears to me that we do know the actual sizes of the cabins. When you go to do a booking on MSC's site and get to the cabin selection part, the stateroom details option shows the exact cabin and balcony sizes. You can see this in my previous post #749. They seem to be pretty specific on every category cabin throughout the ship.

They do show the deck 9 suites as the same size cabin as a regular balcony only a larger balcony.

Something else that I have noticed that I am curious about. I mentioned this earlier, but it appears that you can only book an Aft Suite if you have 4 guests. I have tried mock bookings on multiple dates using all different combinations of guests, tried different websites besides MSC. I wonder why they won't let you book one of those with only 2 or 3 guests. If you have 2 children that are basically free you can.

There's an exception to everything. My DH and I are booked in an aft suite--we are doing a BtoB and MSC said that that overrode the 4 guest rule. We used a TA who dealt with MSC to work it out for us; took several calls because at first they said no. We got such a good deal that our TA even booked an aft suite for a BtoB. :D We've never tried MSC and are really looking forward to being on this ship; the renderings are just gorgeous.

We booked an aft suite very early and the 4 guest requirement may not have been in place at that time cause its just the two of us. I may go ahead and add my granddaughter just to show more than two in the room with her being a no show on cruise day.

Just wanted to chime in here about seeing rooms available if you have only 2 guests , we booked the seaside for March 2018 , we always travel with our best friends now , and they only want to be right next door to us , so we can open up balcony cabin doors. They didnt show 2 next to each other when looking online , but when i called the great agent we spoke with got a supervisor who opened up the room next to one that was available so we can have 2 next to each other , the agent explained that they do keep alot of rooms off online booking holding them for 3 or 4 guests. so always call if you dont see the room you want available....

OG ... I had a check through the UK site earlier after the last post you made to see what came up regarding cabin sizes, Bella,Fantastica and even Aurea balconies are all listed as 16.5 sq metres or 178 sq feet, as you mentioned the Aurea Suites on Deck 9 side aft even come up as the same size as do the Aurea Aft Suites! So I believe just generic sizes for the time being.

The Aft suites are not going to be the size stated at 178 sq feet and a look at the deck plans tell you that, it may well be that the Deck 9 side aft Suites will also be larger.

In the Fleet section under Seaside, the Suites as I said previously are given as 28 sq metres/ 301 sq feet to 33 sq metres/ 355 sq feet, these cannot be confused with the Aurea Suites with a whirlpool as they are given as 35 sq metres/ 376 sq feet.

The Aurea balcony cabins I can understand being 16.5 sq metres / 178 sq feet, but not the Suites on Deck 9 and especially those on the Aft.

Our Aft cabin for the xmas sailing this year will only have the two of us in it, we booked direct with MSC in December 2015. The price has now doubled for the Aurea Suites compared to when we booked, the price being almost ?4,500 for two people, approx $5,500.
